Logos worked diligently to keep her demeanor calm as Lesath had instructed, following the group of Dark Mirrors are they were escorted by the strange, crystalline servants. The way they moved seemed human enough, but they certainly were not human in construction. There was much she did not understand about this whole ordeal since being awakened not a few days ago. Being pulled into mirrors so suddenly, there wasn’t much time between then and now to train and ask questions.

She followed quietly behind Lesath, taking note of the others she’d pointed out earlier. Two cadets among them and another eternal, the same rank as Lesath. She knew a rank existed between Lesath and someone like herself, though she couldn’t recall the name at the present time. Bright blue eyes were busy taking in the details of the hallways in which they traveled - mentally mapping the basics of the castle they could reach.

When the crystal servants were finally relieved of duty, Logos let out a small breath in relief. The servants unnerved her. Now that they were escorted to their rooms, Logos imagined many would turn in for the night. “Ma’am, are you tired? I’d like only a few moments of your time, if you wouldn’t mind.”

Lesath glanced at Logos and nodded, giving a little smile. “I’ll always have time for you, don’t you worry about that. Come on, let’s head in here and we can chat.” It was the room that Lesath had picked out for herself, and she inwardly hoped that Logos wasn’t planning on staying...she liked the girl and all...but she was kind of hoping for a different visitor to come join her in the room tonight...and well.

...Well.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, feeling much better when the door was firmly closed, Lesath looked at her newest recruit, still marveling by at how pretty her fuku was. Those colors complimented her so well. At least...she had a good taste in who was going to be a pretty recruit...though some of the pretty ones...well.

Kibirev was pretty too, but look at what…

“What’s up, Logos. Are you okay?” Lesath patted the spot next to her on the bed and gave a little smile. “This is all a little crazy, isn’t it. And you being so new, I’m really impressed that you’re keeping it together so well.”

”Crazy is definitely one way I would describe it, ma’am.” she breathed, sitting down as gently instructed. Hands in her lap, Logos sighed and looked down at her outfit. The overlay was admittedly gorgeous, though for some reason, she felt it didn’t belong to her. She wasn’t someone who typically wore heels simply because she was a runner - she couldn’t run effectively in heels.

But magic was different, wasn’t it?

“I’m afraid I’m far out of my element, ma’am. Magic existing wasn’t something I had ever considered… my family and I operate firmly in reality. My father is an officer in the military, very proud. I’m not sure how to broach this with them. …or even if I should. Truthfully, there’s a sort of thrill being a part of something my father has no hand in.”

She turned to Lesath, who seemed very knowledgeable. Certainly she must be, having the wings of the highest rank. “Does your family know about this, ma’am? How do you balance your normal life and this?” Logos lifted her hands, waving to the room. All of this crazy.
PostPosted: Sat Sep 16, 2017 7:05 pm

“You shouldn’t broach it with him. Honestly, and I understand why this will be difficult for you, Logos…but you have to guard this secret. It’s…it’s quite literally your life…If others find out who and what you are, you put your family at risk. You put yourself at risk. Honestly, nowadays, the only ones who you should trust with your identity are other members of the faction…in the past…we had an agreement with the Negaverse, but I’m honestly…not quite sure where that stands. I know that there are still a few that I would consider at least mild acquaintances, but none that I would consider friends. All of my friends are in the court.”

Lesath flopped down on the bed beside Logos and thought for a moment. “Well…I’ve been doing this for a very, very long time now. About six years…and I’m lucky that my fiancé is in the court…so that’s how I balance my life…well. No. That’s how I get away with not doing much, to be honest. We have a daughter, she’s almost two now, and I spend a lot of time at home with her. Honestly, I’ve only very recently gotten back into court life.” She smiled wryly and sighed. “And look at where that has gotten me. Stuck up in space. Again.”

It may put your family in danger.

Logos nodded solemnly. “...very well, I won’t say a word. I don’t want to put my family at risk…” Lesath was knowledgeable in such things, being that she’d been involved in this war for six years. While Logos wasn’t exactly sure she understood who or what the Negaverse was, keeping secrets within the Court was the sensible thing to do.

The cadet looked down at her hands folded neatly in her lap. “Do you have the option to retire, ma’am? Bow out and take care of your daughter? Family is incredibly important. I can’t claim to know what the overarching goal of the Court may be, but I’m sure motherhood is very important to you.”

She shifted her weight to look down at Lesath, the one who had brought her into the fray in the first place. The blonde looked sullen, worn and likely missed her daughter terrible. This only strengthened her recruit’s resolve. “Ma’am, I will do everything in my power to ensure you return to your daughter safely.”

“I know it must seem difficult...especially since you seem as though you’re close to your family, but it’s really for the best, and I know that’s honestly one of the worst and most aggravating phrases that anyone can say.” Lesath blinked at the question, her brows furrowing. “...Retire? I...I’ve never really thought about it. I mean, I love the court, and as long as it needs me, I’ll be there, but...I’m not sure you can just...retire from your destiny…”

It was an interesting question at least...she had thought about just leaving, of course. But she always came back. Everyone always came back. You couldn’t just escape the red strings of fate that bound you to whatever magic that you had inside of you…

“Besides...until Remarque retires too, I’ll never really be free from all of this. Though when I get annoyed with things, at least he keeps his mouth shut about it.” She smiled, shaking her head. “And I will do everything in my power to see that you get home safely too. If anything happened to any of the people I brought into the court...I would feel like a failure...I’m just glad that you have a good head on your shoulders. Honestly. It just keeps reinforcing why I chose you. You’re going to make me proud, I know you are.”

“Destiny?”

Logos blinked in confusion towards her mentor. Something like destiny was a word she only saw in books of fairy tales. Surely a thing as silly as destiny couldn’t possibly be why Lesath chose to continue working in the Court, despite a daughter and other responsibilities?

Inwardly, she kicked herself. Daniyah reminded her logical brain that magic existed and also she was stuck in a castle in space where a probably plague was raging outside. Destiny, on a grand scale of trippy-things-you-just-learned-about, was fairly low on the list. It came right after crazy swirl shoes and forget about ever blending in with an outfit like this.

She shook her head. “Well, I admire that kind of dedication, Ma’am. From a cadet to superior, you’re setting a good example to the rest of the Court. What is our end goal, Ma’am? What exactly are we, as a group, hoping to achieve? And what can I do on an individual level?”
PostPosted: Sat Sep 16, 2017 7:13 pm

She supposed that it did sound kind of stupid, and the way that Logos had repeated the word…well, it made Lesath feel rather silly. “Yes, Destiny...It seems like that’s the only reasonable explanation. Like, Remarque and I, we went to highschool together, both of us at Meadowview, and I was one of the cheerleaders, he was a year above me and I had the biggest crush on him...and then about six years ago him and I were...uh. Taken? Kidnapped? I’m not sure what you’d call it, but we ended up in space for a good six weeks or so, started dating and both ended up being brought into the court...I don’t really have any other term for it other than Destiny…”

And now they were in space again, trapped...though this time it was by their own doing.

How strange life was.

“Our end goal? Well…” She pursed her lips and gave a weak chuckle. “You know, that is a good question. I think we had one, once...but then...you know how life goes. Things changed, alliances shifted. Right now I’m not sure if we have a real ‘end’ goal, but right now the present goal is to stay alive. Stay around and help the court to grow. It’s been so stagnant, which is why I wanted to bring you in, you’re going to do good for us. I know I keep saying it, but I do mean it, I honestly do.”

She yawned and sighed. “And the end goal for all of this current nonsense is once again, stay alive and get home. Watch out for those you can watch out for, and I’ll be doing the same. You have a good head on your shoulders.”

“Hmm.”

Logos sat quietly for a few moments, contemplating all of this. Their Court, as Lesath saw it, didn’t have a goal at the moment. Ensuring the survival of the Court seemed like an excellent idea from her point of view. One step at a time. Build from a solid foundation. Logos liked that strategy. It was sound, it was logical. From the basic steps, one could branch out and aim for loftier goals like expanding their numbers and strengthening the new recruits. With her own military upbringing, she felt qualified to do such a thing once she had her feet beneath her.

From there… perhaps it was best to take things one day at a time.

“Thank you, ma’am. I’ll do my best not to disappoint you. Have you...eaten any of those crystals? I haven’t yet - I worry about their effect on our physiology. What if this Queen Altea isn’t human, and our bodies cannot process the crystals the way hers can? I can’t say I’m a scientist by any stretch of the imagination, but I worry about the other members who might have eaten it. What if they’re poison? However, I can’t say I’ve seen any other food in the castle yet. I’d rather not starve. We can’t defend ourselves if we’re starving. My father says survival is about the Rule of Three: three hours without shelter, three days without water, three weeks without food. While we have secured shelter, I worry about the other two.”

The newbie senshi crossed her arms with a deep, weary sigh. “Three weeks is a very long time, and even after a few days, one is not in prime fighting condition. You and the Court have my loyalty above all else, and I pledge to keep myself in fighting form at all times, ma’am.”

“I haven’t eaten any as of yet, but I have to say, I’m weak when it comes to things like that. I don’t do well with ‘roughing it.’ I will say right here and now that I am spoiled and pampered and I’m sure I’ll end up eating them tomorrow, or something. Whatever…tomorrow is.” There were no clocks and no way to tell what time it was, so she figured when she woke up hungry, there was no way she wasn’t going to eat.

“Your father sounds like a very good guy to have around in a pinch. You do too…don’t starve yourself, Logos. Even if the Crystals aren’t…the best food, they’re all that we have at the moment, so we’ll have to make do. There’s no sense in starving ourselves when there is food available…the others who ate it didn’t die yet, so we have to assume that if they are poisoned…perhaps it won’t take effect until we leave here, right?”

Lesath winked and shook her head. “I have to say, with you and me, Logos. If we spend enough time together, either you’ll end up softening, or perhaps you’ll manage to get some of the softness out of me, I doubt it, but it’s possible. She reached out and placed a hand on the brunette’s shoulder. “Go get some sleep, we’re all tired. It’s been a crazy stressful day. We’ll be fine without your watchful eyes for a few hours. You need to take care of you first, the rest of the court second. You said so yourself, we can’t defend ourselves if we’re starving, and we sure can’t defend ourselves if we’re sleep deprived either. I’ll see you in the morning, Logos. We’ve got this. We’re all together, we can get through anything.”

“You’re right, ma’am. I’ll do what’s best for you, myself and the Court. I’ll… see about getting something to eat tomorrow. The idea just doesn’t sit right with me, but I can’t afford to starve. None of us can.” Logos stood and brushed off the black skirt of her fuku - something she wasn’t used to. She was a more pants-and-tennis-shoes type of girl, and this was way beyond her comfort zone. At least she could lay in bed and take her heels off.

She turned and gave Lesath a respectful nod and salute, just as she would her father or her supervisor. “Don’t worry about roughing it, ma’am. We’ll see to it that everyone is cared for as best as circumstance allows. I hope to see you in the morning, ma’am.”

Logos knew Lesath needed her rest, and she prefered to room with other cadets anyway. Taking her leave, the newbie senshi quietly searched the rest of the hall for an available room to sleep, hoping it wouldn’t be too difficult to drift off to dreamland.
