The hallways were long and dark, Logos realized, and mapping out the place wasn't turning out to be as easy as she'd hoped. Some rooms were locked though she didn't explore too terribly much outside the major hallways - if she did, she risked losing her bearings. Logos had secured a room to herself, for now, which she appreciated. It gave her some time to decompress and parse through everything that had happened in the last few days.
Heels clicking on the black marble floors, Logos looked up to find the blonde man Lesath had mentioned. She had said he would be an excellent person to train with and... wasn't he in a relationship with Lesath? If Logos remembered correctly, that might have been the case.
"Good evening, sir." came a respectful greeting. He too wore wings like Lesath, indicating his superior rank and strength. Best to be polite and respectful. "At least, I think it might be evening. I haven't found any windows or clocks as of yet."

Remarque had been taking his time, trying to map out the area, himself. In some ways, it was reassuring that this place wasn’t like Mirrorspace—at least, as far as he could tell. The hallways didn’t seem to be constantly shifting and the rooms were always there when he left them.
There was some stability in it, in an otherwise unstable situation.
He nodded his head to Logos. “Evening,” he parroted. “Or thereabouts. My sense of time is off. I haven’t been able to find any clocks or windows.”
It was messing with his head, with his perception of time. What sort of castle had no windows? It didn’t seem like it had been constructed overnight; far too many of the rooms seemed worn with age. No illusion could have that much detail.
Probably.
“You're Lesath’s?” he asked; they were alone so far as he could tell. There were no silent servants, no Queen, no energy signatures and no eyes in the wall that he could find.
“It’s nice to meet you. I’d have preferred under more favorable circumstances, but,” he shrugged, “We’re an unlucky bunch.”
He held out a hand and introduced, “Remarque.”

With a curt nod in the affirmative, Logos confirmed. "Yes, sir. Just a few days ago, in fact. I'm still learning everything, and Lesath was right to ease me into it over time, and then... all of this happened." Her upbringing taught her not to make excuses whenever possible, and while there was some shame associated with being such a burden on the Court, it was true - she hadn't had much time to develop an understanding of what it meant to be part of the Dark Mirror Court. Taking his hand gratefully, Logos gave a firm shake in return. "I can assure you, sir, I have combat training and other assets that may be valuable to the Court. My father is a military officer. I'm afraid I might be too green to be of service initially, but you have my word that this will change in short order. I'm a hard worker, and I intend to make Lesath proud. She mentioned you would be an excellent person to train with. Perhaps, after this ordeal, we could set a schedule, sir?"

Remarque nodded easily. “I was wondering why you were giving me so much respect. You don’t need to call me ‘Sir’, just Remarque. I don’t need any fancy titles.”
Remarque wasn’t humble; he’d always thought himself important. ‘Sir’ just sounded so stuffy; he wasn’t old enough to appreciate it just yet.
“You don’t have to win me over with a resume, if Lesath thought you were good enough, you’re good enough. I’m only sorry that your first few days have resulted in this. Though, Lesath and I started with a similar experience, so maybe this is a good way to get exposed to it all.” He flashed a grin and seemed confident that they’d get out of this all right, no matter how little evidence he had to base this assumption on.
“I’ll train with you. Now, later, whatever’s good for you. You’ve got combat training? What experience do you have with that?”

"Duly noted." she replied, nodding firmly. The fact that someone else thought she might be a good fit for the Court gave Logos a bit of a confidence boost. Being unaware of the existence of magic and all it entailed put her at a disadvantage, she thought. A completely different world seemed to exist parallel to their own, people bestowed with magical powers living with and among those who were not. How much had been going on without the United States government and military being aware of it? Or were they? "Remarque, if you don't mind, I have a question. Is the government aware of our existence? If so, do we work with them, or against them? Why is it that our existence isn't common knowledge? Is it to keep the public safe? I imagine having magically-inclined renegades would cause a great deal of problems on a city-wide level, at the very least. Are we classified information?" Logos would have thought Lesath would have mentioned such a thing, since Logos herself came from a military background. The fact that she hadn't gave the cadet pause. She couldn't let Remarque's question go unanswered. "My father taught me self-defense from when I was very young. I also have experience in firearms and knives. My father thought any of his children should learn how to defend themselves, but being that we are... non-White, unfortunately, our family is especially vulnerable. I'm sure you understand."

Shaking his head, Remarque didn’t seem too alarmed with the question. It was something new Senshi usually wanted to know, but it was always difficult to explain while they were first coming into the Court. Who would trust a Court if one of the first topics they broached was how you had to hide yourself from the government? From society?
It made them sound shady and untrustworthy. But, the questions always came out. He just hoped Logos had been a member of the Dark Mirror Court for long enough that she was ready for the conversation.
“Destiny City is usually a safe place. I mean, once you get past the war and all. People care more about your energy signature than they do your skin color.”
But, where to start?
“They don’t know about us,” he finally said. “They can’t. Generally we try to work with the police force—low key, you understand, because they can’t tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. But we don’t all want entirely different things. They want to keep their city safe from people that are out to hurt and kill others. We, by the way, don’t kill. Generally. Some of our Court might, in extreme situations.”
Or, if you were Leto, whenever you felt like it.
But he wasn’t going to jump into that; that was another conversation that wasn’t really fit for new recruits.
“The media covers us up as ‘gang wars’ or ‘terrorists’, so it’s best to let them stay in the dark. I don’t know where they get their information, or if they’re all just that ignorant that they actually believe it. They might be in denial. But, the fact is, it’s never wise to put too much attention on yourself. Truthfully, I don’t know what the government is doing, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Negaverse had some hand in them and was forcing them out of our situation. If people knew what we were, there’d be chaos, everywhere. People would hunt us down. It would make our jobs a hell of a lot harder, so we try to lay low.”
He shrugged again. “It’s not an easy job, but it’s got its perks. I mean,” he looked around. “How else would you wind up sucked through a mirror and spat out in some castle across the universe?”

Terrorist was a term she'd heard well enough of growing up, and was perturbed to find the word still in use to describe the magical end of life here in Destiny City. "How is it that the government doesn't know about us, Remarque? I imagine, with a magical war going on, something would have been leaked by now. With everyone having a camera in their pocket these days... Social media and YouTube would have been all over those stories." Truthfully, the participants in the war must've been doing something right to keep things under wraps for this long. Even a simple slip would have blown the whole thing wide open, with headlines on news tickers and papers around the country in days, if not sooner. Logos noted the rule about killing, unless under extreme duress. An odd way to do business, but it wasn't her judgment to make. "No offense intended, but is this really a perk, sir?" The cadet gestured to the walls between which they stood. "While I am very grateful to still be alive, I wonder about this Queen. Of course, I'm just a cadet. I will defer Court decisions to the higher-ups, like yourself."

Remarque laughed, but it lacked much mirth. “If you go on youtube, you’ll find things. But this day and age, people reject what they can’t believe. It’s easy to see something online and just assume it’s been edited. Look up the conspiracy theories about it. Sometimes they get reported or taken down—I assume cats might hve something to do with that. Order, Chaos—everyone knows how problematic it would be if we had to deal with each other and the government. Civilians can’t tell the good from the bad, so we don’t need them hunting all of us just because there’s a few bad eggs.”
He didn’t seem particularly alarmed with anything and continued, “There’s a lot of young people involved. A lot of them don’t think about their actions and have to learn the hard way. Sometimes someone else has to clean up their mess, but,” he shrugged again. “It’s a learning process. We’re doing all right so far, but we’re not entirely invisible. Media reports don’t want to be labeled as insane, and until someone has scientific proof that we exist, they can’t really report on us. It’s why we have to be safe. But,” he glanced around the room, taking in what he could before his eyes finally settled on Logos again. “Sometimes things like this happen. We won’t know if this is good or bad until the end of it. If it winds up with steady access into space, it’s good. We need a backup plan for when the Negaverse screws up Earth.”
Which was a whole conversation unto itself.
“We’re trying our hardest to keep Earth safe—to make sure we, and our loved ones, have a place to comfortably exist. But the Negaverse is a lot larger than us, and they’ve got the upper hand. Right now they’re mostly distracted with Senshi and Knights and it’s given us a little bit of freedom to do our own thing, but one day our luck is going to run out and they’re going to turn on us, too. We have to make sure that we’re prepared. If they manage to take over Earth, we need a secondary location outside of it where we’ll be safe. Ideally, somewhere big enough and stable enough to fit everyone we care to…”

"Somewhere big enough and stable enough to fit everyone..." Logos took mental note of the Negaverse. It was an organization Lesath had mentioned, and mentioned that they were a larger organization with a Chaos bent, somewhat like themselves. However, they were a harsh military outfit, something Logos found both interesting and was somewhat jealous of. The people of the Dark Mirror were not organized in this way, nor did they seem interested in being so. Perhaps this was the destiny of which Lesath spoke. It was quite a bit to process and analyze, and it was something Logos would put her efforts into. Remarque was one of the leaders of the Court, someone she sought to impress (after Lesath, of course, who was someone of the highest rank in Logos' mind). She would take notes and study intensely... after some much-needed sleep. It was odd - she didn't start to feel the effects of all the excitement and action until a few moments ago, when her eyelids started to droop. Adrenaline could only last for so long. "Thank you for the information, sir. I fully intend to make use of it and learn to do work for the Court without attracting attention but... I should probably go to bed. This has been... exhausting." Without thinking, Logos gave Remarque a military-style salute and waited patiently for her dismissal so she could wander back towards the room she claimed as her own. Today was... something.

Remarque seemed content with this idea; he nodded. “It’s been a long day,” he agreed. “You get some rest while you can. Tomorrow will go a lot smoother if you’re as rested up as you can be.”
He bowed his head just slightly, far less keen on salute’s or gestures of formality. “You have a good night, and don’t hesitate to come get me if something seems out of place or if you’ve got any more questions. I’d rather we be safe than sorry.”
And he had the ability to tap into a power that they didn’t—and he wasn’t going to waste any opportunity to keep the Court safe, if he could. He might not have paraded himself around as a Royal Senshi, but it didn’t mean that he wasn’t itching to change the second things seemed to go South.
For now, he just had questions; it didn’t seem as though they were in any real danger. At the very least, nothing seemed to be threatening them.
Yet.
He’d have been wise to get some sleep himself, so he raised his hand before he turned to depart, himself.
