While earlier in the night Avior had wandered around just observing everything around him, taking in the sites and making note of where everyone was, this particular stroll had a purpose. During the dinner shared with Queen Altea he had a certain masked senshi by his side, a young woman, and though they had went their separate ways, he wanted a chance to talk to her again.
The difficult part of that, however, was that her name wasn't quite there on his tongue... Lavern? Taverna? Ah... He just couldn't quite remember; there were so many things going on at once and it was embarrassing to think that he couldn't remember the name of someone so memorable..
But, he could say he very much remembered what she looked like, with her lovely mask and hair with the pink streaks in it. It was certainly hard to forget such a fashion statement. And he was glad for it, for around the next corner of these great halls, he almost ran into her.
"O-Oh! Excuse me!" He exclaimed, stopping just a few inches short of colliding with the young woman. "It's been a while! Almost feels like it's been a life time since we last saw one another."
While he wasn't big on humor himself (loved hearing it, but was quite frankly awful at delivering it), he was amused at this moment, for it seemed like it would be easy to speak with this young woman again. After all, she was kind enough to stick up for him.
"How are you holding up so far?"

The hit had surprised her. Laverna had been just about to take the corner when she was sent stumbling back the way she came. Thankfully she kept her footing before she was able to take in who it was that seemed to have made such an entrance. Seeing the colors of gold and green before her, Laverna had to smile. It was one of the few Eternals she didn't want to shove the wings down their throat. How nice! "Are you always so forward with the ladies or am I just special?" Her voice was playful behind the mask as she stepped towards him once more. A hand came up and a finger reached out to bop him on the nose. "Because I would hate to have to tell your partner you are out flirting with someone else." Hand coming back, Laverna's eyes said she was smiling even as she shrugged. "I'm fine. Not sliced up like in the mirror cave. Just glad to be done with the fools and idiots at that table."

"I think you are certainly special, Laverna, but It is not me who is the forward one, I think." It certainly was nice to have someone smile back at him, even if it was hidden behind a mask. He could at least tell it reached her eyes this way and that was more than enough for him. Of course, he blushed as he always did when she mentioned his 'partner'. As close as he and Crocus were... He didn't quite think they were in a relationship, if that's what she was talking about.
"I-I don't really have a partner..." He said shyly, scratching the tip of his nose briefly after she had booped it. "But truly, I think you flirt more than I do. Not that I mind the attention... It's pleasant, refreshing really after the rest of the nonsense that's going on in this place... Everyone seems so dour. "
Avior wasn't much for affections, hell, if one were to ask how long it was ago he had even kissed a person, it would have been years, so it was no surprise that he tended to react with blushing and stammering at times. Even if he was an Eternal senshi, his heart was squishy as ever.
"I'm happy to hear you're alright. There were some rather disgusting displays of rudeness at the table. You could tell just how many people there lacked any sort of decency or manners. You'd think they were raised in a barn or the woods or something instead of decent society... And I'm even more ashamed that one of them had the nerve to go and verbally attack our own." Despite his squishiness, Avior certainly had a tone laced with venom in his voice when speaking of Acubens and her nonsense. Even worse was Leto and her gossipy self, given the fact that she was supposed to be a princess among them. To him, she was a princess in title and power and nothing more. Why would he bother to follow a leader with such a hot head?
"Ah, but enough of that... Are you out here trying to see what you can see? I was trying to find if they had anything else besides these crystals to eat. Though they were filling, they tasted like less than nothing and I almost wish she would have brought out the bitter ones had they tasted any better."

"Guilty as charged!" Laverna purred at the mention of her being a flirt. Where was the harm in showing affection to someone she found attractive after all, especially when she heard he didn't have a partner....not that it had stopped her before. Heck, she flirted with Remarque and he had a ball and chain! "But you only live once so why be boring?" Her smile flickered for a moment as Avior spoke of decent society. It made her scoff. "Sometimes even the most well provided for born into 'society' are lower than those raised in a barn. Though I may admit it is enjoyable to see some play the fool, especially those we should look up to. Even if they are right and this Queen turns out to be the devil, one should never play their hand so clearly." Laverna's hand reached out again and she placed it on Avior's butt wings, giving them a pull. "If I was Queen Altea, I would have my guards confine them to their rooms. On threat of her life." Finding the wings did not come off his uniform, Laverna walked around him and gave them a pat...though it could have been mistaken as a miss as she slapped his behind. "But that is me and I'm no queen. Just a lowly, little girl."

"To that, I whole heartedly agree! Maybe you could give me a few lessons on how to be exciting. But do go easy on me, I'm pretty vanilla in the end." His playful tone betrayed his actual nervousness in the whole situation, for the very thought of stepping outside of his comfort zone left him uneasy. But Laverna seemed kind and patient enough towards him, so he did his best to convince himself that there was no need to feel so ill at ease around her.
"I meant no offense by my words..." Avior tried to apologize, thinking he had said something to offend the other. "There is a significant lack of gracelessness among our ranks, and it scares me in a way, given the fact that there are times when emotions are just so high running, a single spark could lead to devastation. I wouldn't wish that even on my worst enemy.."
Whatever sad feelings were quickly encroaching on Avior's mood when he felt the tug on the wings as Laverna began to poke and prod at him, even managing a squeak when it was his bottom that had been slapped and he quickly turned around, face as pink as the streaks in Laverna's hair.
"Y-you're... Laverna, you're quite something!" He stammered, hand reaching behind him to give his cheek a quick rub. "Ahem.. S-since we um... Since we're not so confined to our rooms, perhaps we should.. U-Um... Explore the castle some, see what we can see!"
What the woman before him wanted with him, he did not know, but the attention received was a little overwhelming... But welcomed none the less. Anything to keep his mind off of just how insane the world was around them at this time.

There was a glint in Laverna's eyes that clearly betrayed her playful nature. But as quickly as one would have seen it, it was gone. "I am indeed something Avior but the question is what? To some I'm a child. To others, a burden. To a few, a stepping stone." "But what do you..." Laverna leaned forward and poked him on the nose before quickly walking past him and down the hall. "Think I am." She was a few steps past him when she glanced back. "Coming? I'd like to see more of this place before someone destroys it."

Avior stood there stunned for a moment as Laverna examined him again, talking as if she were a chesire cat of a girl. Perhaps she was but it didn't bother him none. Not when she was on his side this time around. Thank the heavens for that. He wasn't sure just how he would make out if she had been his enemy.
"I think... You are an ally. As strong as any other, with a path before her to get stronger, there is no doubt about that.... And perhaps along those lines.. I think you are rather fascinating, in a way. Incredibly strong and fiercely loyal... Dedicated to your thoughts and feelings... It's intense and admirable, much more impressive than those who change their minds and attitudes at the drop of a hat." He quickly turned on his heel, and followed behind her, a sweet smile never leaving his face.
"Of course. Something tells me it doesn't have long... Places like this seemed destined to crumble."

"Avior," Laverna stopped mid-step and looked back at him. Those eyes that had been light and playful a moment ago seemed suddenly hard, on edge. She was looking at him as if she wanted to warn him of something dark and deadly. "A lesson you should learn quickly. Don't trust people so much." And then with a blink, that glare was gone and she glanced back at the stone. "Crumble yes but those crystals are like steel almost. Or diamond. Nothing seems to break them."

At first, Laverna shocked him with that hard, cold glare. She warned him of things he knew far too well from both his time on the side of the White Moon, and now as he existed as a Dark Mirror.
"You mistake me for an idiot, Laverna." He said, his voice soft and perhaps a bit sad. "I am not sure what has happened to you to make you seem so jaded, but... Just as I know that some people are willing to stab you in the back, there are those out there who wish for only the best. Perhaps I do trust to easily, but if betrayal comes, It's not unexpected. There is a reason I made it this far as an eternal. I've been at this for a long, long time, even if there was some time that I needed to take for myself. I assure you, I'm not nearly as naive as you think.."
The sudden switch back in subject made him feel that same, strange feeling he had when he first met her, so long ago when they were fighting that giant youma... Maybe he really wasn't welcomed as much as he thought he was. That was fine. It wasn't as if that feeling was enough to send him away. Not again.
"Everything can break. Steel, diamond, and most certainly crystals. We'll find a way... Ah, but I suppose we should continue to explore. Feel free to lead on, Laverna."

At his words, Laverna feel silent for a long moment. She was in her own head, walking ahead of him, slowly for several heart beats. "Sometimes, Avior, you have to accept that even if you trust others, they may not trust you. Maybe they are like these crystals." Her hand reached out and ran down one of the long spikes. "Dangerous and sharp. Made to keep things in or out. Placed carefully to make sure whatever they guard is well hidden." "I won't bore you with my story that means next to nothing but I'll put it this way: words mean nothing."

"I understand that. Not everyone will trust me, no matter how open I am, and that's fine. As you said, words... They can mean nothing, but actions can say everything, and I hope I can prove myself worthy an ally one day." The feeling of discomfort between him and Laverna passed. He couldn't blame her at all for those feelings, especially she was hurt before. Or hell, even if she had her own stories to hide.
Frankly, it wasn't his business, and he was not about to pry. If she wanted to open up one day, that was up to her. Walls were things he knew far too well, after all.
"That being said... Let me work on that now. Wall and crystals aside, we can find something to help us out, I know it."

Laverna shook her head, a smile twisting into a grin. "Avior, you really are something else. I have to wonder if you even have walls around your heart even as they surround your body." "But, lead the way and let's see what this castle holds."
