Seren eyed her phone, making sure she had the right room number for the person she was looking for. The twitter said it was 260, and this was... definitely number 260. She stared at the door for a long moment, and then took a slow, deep breath. "All right, Seren, you can do this. You have been feeling bad about this since Dare or Dare, you need to go through with this." She took another deep breath, and stepped right up to the door. She lifted her hand, and knocked, hoping that the person she sought was inside.

Melvin was taking out the polar bear rug he kept and, having swept again and vacuumed, rolled it out and smiled. Perfect. It would be a worthwhile conversation piece when Merric showed up.
The knock at the door was sooner than he thought for the personal not-assistant to show up, and so he walked over the polar bear rug and opened the door with a smile - to see someone he barely recognized.
"Uh.....can I help you?"

She looked up, biting her lip for a long moment at the face of the man she was hoping/not wanting to see. "Ah. I... I'm sorry for showing up without permission, or warning. I just..." She looked down, took a long deep breath, clearly trying not to panic, or go into babbling idiot mode, then looked up again. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I know that what happened, in the long run, was not my fault but... I've felt horrible about what happened because of my dare the other night." She nervously reached up, and pulled a loose lock of hair out of her face. "I never wanted you to get hurt. I just wanted you to get a nice kiss from some one." She let her breath out in a whoosh, glad to have gotten that all out, even if she was still worried about his response.

He stared at her, trying to process what she was even talking about, until she mentioned a kiss. Considering he only kissed Mik, it narrowed things down a lot. Reaching up, he touched the cheek he had been punched, but considering he was a full hunter and Malkam just a trainee, the hit didn't even hurt that much and didn't even register enough to leave a mark aside from a little bit of red for a few minutes after.
But he rubbed his cheek and frowned. "Yeah.....that was pretty rough."
"Maybe it was a mistake to try and kiss anyone." He leaned on the door frame.

She watched him touch his cheek, trepidation running through her gut and brain. When he frowned, her gut swooped hard, convinced she had just ******** up. His words made her look sad, and then even sadder, possibly even angry. "What on earth are you talking about?" She had flipped from worrying about what she had done to worrying about this man and his comment. "I absolutely don't believe that statement in the least. I don't know you, but you deserve a chance at kisses and happiness as much as anyone here, and you definitely didn't deserve to be decked by that shitface little homophobic jerk with some sort of ego/stick up hiss a** because he can't get over his fears. I'd have kissed you myself if I realized some bullshit would come from my careless phrasing. I just wanted you to enjoy it."

He gave a soft smile back. "That's awfully kind of you, but it's my mistake for trying to kiss who I kissed even if it was a game. Everyone else can happily kiss someone and not be judged. A lot of people judge me. I should have probably not even gone to the party in the first place. It seems I ruin the mood." He said, part of it truth, part of it playing to the pity of the other girl. She had come to him after all, and she felt some kind of guilt over it.
"For what it's worth, it was a nice gesture to try and get me involved when everyone else was making out."

The comment about 'ruining the mood' got an aggrieved snort out of her. "I barely would call that a party. It started out fun, but some people were dicks from the start. You didn't ruin it. HomophobicAss, and Mr. 'I'm Repressing My Desires' are the ones I'd blame." She paused, realizing she hadn't really gotten their names, and gave a mental shrug. "They're the ones throwing punches around, whether by proxy or directly. If they can't take the spirit of Dares, then they shouldn't have GONE. You? Despite getting a ridiculous dare to injure yourself, you dealt with it. Frankly, your retribution could have been worse, and I was impressed with the fact that it wasn't." She sighed, and nodded quietly. "I wish things had gone different, and maybe in the future they will." She frowned, a little, and then added "Assuming anyone's even willing to HAVE games like that again. Self Absorbed and Repressed is obviously against them, but personally, I'd rather he just not come."

"He's just a kid, so I don't expect much from him. And being a trainee, he didn't do as much damage to me as say, a full hunter could have done. If we play those games, he'd have to hopefully learn restraint if he gets stronger. I was actually more worried someone would get podded over me, just because of a little dare. That boy could have been placed in a lot of trouble over his rash actions. It's concerning. As a Lifer, I wouldn't want to see good hunters be put on a shelf because of a moodswing." He said, placing a hand on his chest.
"Would you like to come in. Seems silly for you to stand out here to talk with me and you seem like a good person. I'm Melvin by the way." He said, gesturing inside.

She blinked at the invite into Melvin's private sanctuary, and paused, thinking for a bit, then nodded, and quietly walked in. Worst case, she could text for help, but she didn't think he seemed likely to do anything. She just knew a woman always had to be prepared, didn't they... She peered with surprise at the rug, and just lifted her brows, before turning to face Melvin again. "I'm Seren. It's nice to meet you, properly."
She took a slow breath, having been deciding how to respond to the 'just a kid' comment. "I suppose he is just a kid. Technically, and I suppose in your eyes, I am too. But that doesn't make his behaviour acceptable. He's a 'kid' but he's also an adult. He should have learned how to behave in a reasonable fashion by now. Assault is wrong, no matter the fact that he could barely harm you. And just..." Her eyes closed and her lips twisted at the memory of him yelling the word fags during the game at one point. "Homophobia really twists my knickers, if you'll pardon the phrasing." She sighed softly, then said "But you're a better person then me, I suppose, if you can forgive that so easily, and worry more about his welfare. Personally, I could happily see him forced to cool his heels for a while, if I actually thought he'd learn something from it."

The room was spare, devoid of most furniture. A few boxes were set about the room, unopened. A laptop sat on a kitchen table and most of the walls looked recently pained while the furthest one around a new window still showed signs of being plastered. A bucket and a bundled wad of sandpaper sat on the floor atop a white piece of fabric.
"Sorry about the smell. I've been airing out the room but it still had a bit of a lingering smell of paint." He said from across the room, opening a window and letting in a fresh smell of rain from the rainstorm outside to come through. A Ipod set atop a stereo was on pause on the nigh stand next to a pristine made bed. A large, black chest was at the foot of the bed and a few DVDs were stacked atop the desk with various titles from horror, sci-fi, and drama.
The rug on the floor was real, and was that of a polar bear, the face looking up with it's mouth open wide.
He moved to the kitchen. "Would you like something to drink?" He called out. He decided to start the coffee maker and walked over to sit on the chest.
"He is a kid in his mindset, not so much his age as you are far more of an adult than he is. While podding is okay as a form of time out for some people, I think it's a drain on resources and just freezing someone doesn't really teach them anything in my opinion. It's better to have them on the field to save a life then locked in a pod room where something bad can happen without them knowing. It also won't help how he feels about gay men." He added.
"Assault is kind of tolerated pretty easily around her eon the island since we fight to get stronger and that's prized, but you did see how people jumped in when that weapon was drawn. Other hunts knew it was the wrong course of action and watched out for each other and for him. "Does it twist your knickers because you have a girlfriend?"

The details of the room didn't seem to bother her much, nor the scent of paint. However, the open window caused her to move a little towards it, her head tilting to catch the scent flowing in, in a way that suggested she wasn't totally used to it, but liked it. "Remodeling, I assume?" She said, in response to his apology. "It doesn't bother me. Paint's far worse the the smell of mildew, or similar."
She smiled a little, and said "Yes, something to drink would be lovely. That's very kind of you." Her head tilted, listening to him, talk, and she made a slight moue of frustration. "I can't really argue with any of that, especially since much of it I'm not very familiar with the details of, at this time. I just... wish there was something. And I suppose he is more of a child in mind but... I envy him that, in some ways. It must be nice to not have had to grow up young." She sounded tired saying that, but also accepting.
The comment about assault being tolerated earned a deep frown, and she fingered a star shaped pin on her jacket, as she thought about that. "Strength is good, but you can get strong without being a violent a*****e, nor without having the urge to assault people just 'cause you don't like them."
Being asked about having a girlfriend earned a blanked expression for a long moment, and then her looking down at her shoes, trying to hide her expression as she spoke. Her tone was falsely emotionless. "Ah, no, nor a boyfriend at this time. My partners and I broke up about a year before I was recruited..."

"More like repairs. The horsemen destroyed my dorm so I've had to replace a lot of things like windows, parts of the walls, tile-work, and plumbing. Luckily they didn't take out any supports in the wall or cut any electrical lines."
"I have coffee, water, and tea. Your choice?" He asked, watching her look down.
"Partners? You were with a girlfriend and a boyfriend?" He asked her, looking her over. "High-school romance gone bad?" He got up to get ready to get her drink.

Her eyes widened a little at the idea of horsemen in one's room, and she looked around. "It looks like you've done an incredible job, then, of getting it back." She rubbed her head and half shrugged. "If there's anything I can help with...? I had to repairs somewhat often at home..."
She smiled at the word 'tea', a happy smile of purest pleasure. "Tea would be amazing. I haven't had it in over a year." Tea, unless she was willing to drink cheap tea, had always been out of her budget.
She looked up again, and in a falsely bright tone, said "Something like that. But yes, I had a boyfriend and a girlfriend. My parents never approved, but that wasn't really a surprise either."

"I'm almost done. I've repaired countless times over. You get used to it after a while."
The tea he had was only a higher grade because he knew some people liked it and because he used to live with Lawr who always was for a finer grade of everything he kept in his house. Melvin only took some when he felt anxious and had a hard time sleeping and decided not to just stay up and drink coffee instead which he did in most cases. Moving to the kitchen, he gestured if she wanted to follow. "If you want to take one of the kitchen chairs instead where you can be closer to the windows." He told her, noticing she had shifted her body before to be pointed towards the windows.
He poured some hot water from the electric kettle he had and set down two cups, one for himself for instant coffee and one for tea for her, and plopped a tea bag in. "I only have chamomile."
Turning as they stepped, he leaned on the counter. "Must be rough from having 2 partners to being alone again on a island. I will say that there are a lot of people here with more than one person and others who bounce around so you shouldn't face too many issues. Most people could care less, Dare drama aside. Are you adjusting well? You seem new."

"Well that's delightfully encouraging." Her tone was dry, and her brows raised. "I'm amazed hunters have time to hunt, if this is an ongoing problem."
She followed him in, at his suggestion, and quietly settled onto a chair, crossing her legs at the ankles, and enjoying the scent coming in through it. "Thank you, I like the smell of rain. Home was having drought issues, when last I was there. Whenever that was." She watched him working on the beverages, and smiled at the choice of chamomile, or chamomile. "Chamomile is more then fine. It's soothing, and good for you, I've been told."
Her fingers casually brushed the lace on her skirt as she considered how to respond to his question and comments, her blue eyes unfocused. Finally, she smiled a little, and shrugged. "Not so big a difference, it had been over a year for that too. Hard to maintain relationships and 3 jobs, it turns out. What can you do?" She gave a helpless smile, and continued. "I suppose that's good to know, if I decide to go seeking something of that nature soon. As for adjusting... Pfoooooo. Good question? I'm sort of running it as it comes at me. It's still kind of... surreal, this place and this truth. But yeah, I'm definitely new. It's been... a few weeks?"
