Course Info Mist Hunter The Miss Taken Tower General Information As the general, jack-of-all trades division, the Mist Hunter training course is a combination of the other divisions' training challenges and also one of the more complicated. The goal of this course is to rescue the princess in the tower. Below her, you'll find yourself confronted with a number of shadowling attackers, and beyond them, a room of only slightly deadly traps. But even should you reach her location, you still need to pick the lock on the manacles holding her in place. Unskilled fiddling with the locks will prove unhealthy for both the princess and yourself. And once that's done, you need to make your way back down through the traps and shadowlings, defending the princess the whole way.
The Miss Taken Tower is one of the most challenging and frustrating courses available.
If you fail: your princess dies, and you are quite possibly KO'd. Senior hunters are observing and will make with a timely rescue as needed.
If you win: the princess will adore you for the rest of her exceedingly brief existence. Peen points for 100% health for you and the Princess, shadowlings fought, going for consecutive rescues.
Part 1 Mechanics - roll your regular attack - roll your regular attack again - if you miss an attack, you lose 50% of your full HP - if you have an available recovery bonus, you may try to use that to avoid HP loss
Bonus Mechanics - This bonus is consumable. - for the Mist Course, it is recommended you review the mechanics of the other division courses, as the division bonuses carry over.
- Trainees: 0 recoveries - Mist/Sun Trainees: 1 recovery - Hunters: 1 recovery - Mist/Sun Hunters: 2 recoveries
Part 2 Mechanics - there are two steps worth of traps in this room, so you'll be rolling twice

01. horrible death 02. - 50% HP 03. - 50% HP 04. live 05. live 06. - 50% HP 07. horrible death 08. - 50% HP 09. horrible death 10. live

Bonus Mechanics

Each step brought him that much closer to it, and the closer he got the more excited he was to try and run through the course again. He never made it all the way through the last time, which was a shame because very soon after he'd been assigned to an outpost. His experience with all the courses was pretty limited, but his own division's course was still at the top of his list to get through on his own.
‹ You really think you're ready to go through it by yourself? ›
'Yeah. 'Bout time, really.'
‹ That makes absolutely no sense to me. ›
'Just...trust me.'
Zephira scoffed but went quiet as he came up to the entrance to the tower. Rhys gave her a few test swings and hopped in place a little to warm up, and then he rushed inside.
Shadowlings were crawling all over the place once he was in, but unlike in the actual Sun course the tunnel to the stairs leading up to the next stage wasn't quite so long. He slashed his way through globs of them, pushing forward without any sort of hesitation. His movements had become more fluid since he first awakened, but it was clear that he was far from perfect. If anything, someone with more experience and training would point out that he really didn't give a flying ******** about defending himself, and that it would probably bite him in the a** at the worst possible time if he does get sent out on a solo mission one day.

"I know that!" Rhys said as he pushed even further forward, inching closer toward the stairs leading up to the next stage. "Shut up for a sec, yeah?"
‹ I'm just saying. You're careless. Always too careless. ›
The trainee grit his teeth and jumped and hacked away at the last of the shadowlings directly between him and his exit, then hurried up the steps to make sure that they didn't jump him as soon as he stopped moving. "I've got this, Z, c'mon."
‹ You've always 'got this' but I'm always here, remember? I'm telling you. You don't always 'got this.' ›

Thankfully it was only two steps, two giant steps, long, so Rhys mentally prepared himself (by mostly ignoring Zephira's groaning about his carelessness) before taking some time to survey the area. He had a number of choices of where to step first and he wasn't in any kind of rush, so he looked at each seemingly innocent step before starting to take one...
But got a bad feeling about it, changed his mind, and stepped onto the square beside his original decision. Safe and sound--he totally got this.

He landed safe and sound, to Zephira's irritation (because they kept going back and forth about how he much he actually 'got this' and Rhys was apparently winning). The trainee hefted her onto his shoulder and walked on up the stairs to the next stage, huge grin and all.

Status Stage: 3Your HP: 40/40 Princess HP: 20/20 Stage 1 Recoveries: 1 Stage 2 Flags and Instincts: 1 flag, 1 instinctive move Stage 4 Bonus HP: +2 defense The princess was now in sight! And she looked like...Oliver.
"He actually doesn't look too bad in that," Rhys said, still smiling as he headed over. Quickly, he knelt down so the shackles were easier to reach (and also because Princess Oliver wasn't really saying a whole lot so there was no sense in standing and saying anything to reassure him that he would be fine), Rhys got to picking the individual locks. Zephira was humming some song to herself, quite obviously bored because he had de-summoned her to free up his hands, but Rhys found it kind of soothing and it helped him focus. So she hummed a little louder.
Which maybe helped, and she would take credit for his successfully picking the lock of one of the shackles.

The humming was soothing at first but now it was just kind of annoying, especially with how loud she was doing it in his head.
"Got it!" he shouted when the second shackle came off the the Princess Oliver was freed. Wasting no time, Rhys picked up the princess a la a fireman's carry, summoned Zephira (which promptly stopped the humming), and hurried back toward the stairs. He was more than halfway done with the course. Now he just had to get through the traps and the shadowlings and he was home free.

"I'm goin', I'm goin'!" he shouted back at the air and he sort of just ran across the traps to get to safety as fast as he could.

The objective was to make sure the princess made it back out alive so if he took a few hits to achieve that goal, then alright. Anyway, Princess Oliver seemed perfectly okay being carried like a sack of rice, so that was good. Also nothing hit him, so that was also good.

There was gobs of them all over the place, as though the ones he'd gotten rid of earlier had been replaced as quickly as he'd slashed through them. Which was fine...again. He had a sword, anyway, and he could slash his way through similar to how he'd done so earlier. But more carefully because he had a princess slung over his shoulder.

The seniors in the room looked marginally impressed given that he got through the course without taking on any damage of any kind, both to him and to the princess, but he didn't make too big a deal out of it. He accepted the unspoken pats on his back as he de-summoned Zephira and set Princess Oliver down, the smile on his face the only indication of his satisfaction with finishing the course. Princess Oliver very profusely said his thanks for saving him and all that, but pretty soon the hunter's visage was gone from the princess doll thus officially ending Rhys's run-through of the tower. It was fun to see Oliver in that outfit while it lasted, though.

Rhys took his time resting, flopped down in one corner of the observation room as he caught his breath and calmed down. The adrenaline and all that was fading and his body was sore and heavy again, a familiar but still unpleasant feeling no matter how many times he'd experienced them. Which was a lot because he was a gym rat and always either looking to spar or do a training course whenever possible.
‹ Alright, I'll admit it this one time. ›
'Admit what?'
He grinned. 'Say it, Z. C'mon, you can do it.'
‹ You-- Ugh. Whatever. You got this. Happy? ›
The trainee couldn't help but laugh a little, and loudly at that. The senior hunters in the room gave him a funny look for it, but he didn't care. He'd be out of there soon enough, and it wasn't everyday that Zephira admitted defeat.
'And don't ever forget it.'
