In the beginning...As promised, Mimsy was present on the training fields shortly before the eclipse was scheduled to occur. She had clearly come prepared, having dragged two safely filtered telescopes of varying magnifications all the way from their home in the town (or had employed Robert to do so in her stead). She'd topped this image of excessive readiness off with the usual galaxy printed clothing - now from head to toe, entirely, including a pair of printed 'eclipse glasses' to match. If this was not overwhelming enough, she paired it with what appeared to be a welcoming smile, uncharacteristically eager. This sight on the fields alone was likely enough to indicate that they were in the right place, for those who didn't know her. All were acknowledged in some way as they arrived, but those who seemed to be lacking in protection were offered a pair of glasses to prevent any potential damage to their eyes. "I am pleased to answer any questions that you might have regarding the eclipse," she would offer, once joined by her fellow hunters. "Any related inquiries are welcome!" Eclipse Viewing Info -Basic 'eclipse glasses' are available for any in attendance. They're thematically Deus. -Mimsy strongly advises to not look at the sun without protective eyewear, but has already made an offer to those who are unwilling to do so. -Going with drabble format for now so anyone can hop in or out as needed, but go with the flow!

In the beginning...
Someone brought a cooler of pre-mixed frozen cocktails, then promptly abandoned it.
Almost as if they didn't want to be incriminated.

Nick watched the whole thing being set up with mixed curiosity and suspicion. She had spent more time outside running around like the hooligan tomboy she was than reading up on solar phenomenon, and was mostly unaware of what the telescopes were actually for. She was definitely going to take the older hunter up on her offer of answers.
"What the ********?" Nick asked the lady in galaxy print, cursing almost nicely. It was the only way she knew how to talk, really, and she would have to ask questions if she was to learn anything.

Seren had come out to the fields, exuberantly excited by the Eclipse coming. "OH! You have glasses for us, THANK you so much!" She didn't know Dr. Morris, but she did know she was seriously happy to have this chance. If she'd been back home, she'd have been WELL out of the proper zone to see this fully. She had a blanket and set it up near where Dr. Morris was standing, so she could hear anything she said. She'd worn her own usual Celestial Themed clothing, and felt this was going to be the best day yet.

Elio had never seen a solar eclipse outside of photos and mass media so the chance to experience one was something the man did not want to pass up. He knew that if anything, he couldn't look at it without special glasses and was infinity grateful the space woman had provided for those who wished to partake in the viewing. "Grazie." He said softly, taking a pair and smiling at the color scheme. Always the brilliant blue of Deus he mused. Even before the sun had begun to blot out, he tested the shades, blinking time to time as his eyes peers at the small glowing orb in the sky. It was so strange, to know that soon enough they would be in a darkened world all due to the perfect alignment of celestial bodies. "The telescopes, may we use them? I assume they have the needed lens yes?"

Lunaire strode proudly towards the setup, she was sporting her NASA shirt, purple galaxy lightly hinted in her hair, though faded slightly from an unexpected desert trip. Stockings that probably came from the same place Mimsy would order hers. The difference in their appearance? Mimsy was a busy scientist setting up to display and present, Lunaire was someone high on glory on a day she declared her own and the one time Luna came before Sol. "SUCK IT SOOOOOOL today's MY day," she declared as she strolled past the frosted beverages grabbing a strawberry one (or she hoped at least). They where 21 technically. 2 years in a pod. Podded at 19. It was legal. It was a Solar Eclipse. It was extra okay.

Seren glanced over at the person who had come up with the loud declaration. She called out "Hey, mind tossing me one of those frosty cool beverages? You can share my blanket, if you want, for viewing." She hadn't noticed the cooler at first, and felt dumb for not getting one for herself, but at least this way she had a chance to not get up... Ok it was lazy but she was comfortable and excited.

Luna was sipping the frosted beverage when she paused glancing over to a stranger, she looked around and no one seemed to be stopping her from taking a drink so she grabbed one. Something blue? Moving to pass it to Seren. "Deal. You have prime viewing spot? Confirmed? I want to see the best view of the Moon rocking this eclipse."

a grand occasion
Chance was beyond excited for the solar eclipse on a level that only his affection for Otto surpassed. He greeted Mimsy with a wide smile, and leaned down to peck a kiss to her cheek in lieu of a hello.
"Doctor Mother, as usual, this is a lovely gathering," he said, glancing around at the telescopes. He'd brought his own just in case, slung over his shoulder in its carefully kept bag; a precious item that he took excruciatingly seriously, more so than any other possession he had. Chance himself was also in a pair of blue and green galaxy print leggings and an oversized black teeshirt with a giant white star printed in the middle.
His own galaxy print eclipse glasses were currently perched on the top of his head.
"Are you all prepared for today? Are Peter and Mr. Doctor here as well?"

Seren grinned and held her hand out for the drink, and took a deep sip. "Prime as I can get, without knocking over the lovely equipment. I'm Seren." She patted her blanket, and scooted over a bit, to give Luna the better seat, even. "Since it's your day, somehow..." She held her pair of the viewing glasses with care, almost reverentially, and laid back to gaze at the sky, away from the sun. "I'm just stupidly excited to be able to see a full eclipse... I wonder how the star gazing is from the field at night. Do you know?" She hadn't had a chance to find out yet, and needed to ask people. "I'd love to just spend an evening out sometime, with friends preferably, gazing at the stars." She sighed, missing that from home. It was one of few things that made her smile when she thought about home. She made a slight face at the thought and took another, deeper, sip of the boozy sweet drink.

Luna flopped down onto the blanket beside Seren laying on her back sitting up only slightly now and again to sip her strawberry drink with a thoughtful hmm. With a sollem nod she took the glasses placing them tipped up on her forehead above her normal pair. "It's my day today, because my name is Lunaire, and my dear sister who is super late for an important event is Soliel. Eclipses are kind of a big deal in our family and today, of all days, I get to to be first. The moon blocks the sun." She took another sip of her drink already starting to feel fuzzy inside. "You know I haven't done any star gazing since I got here? From what Mimsy over there was saying the Island can move? So the stars might be different every night..."

Chris had heard about the eclipse but didn't realize it was a group viewing thing until he'd gone out to see it. He'd managed to construct a pinhole viewer because he wasn't aware that glasses would be available..
The cardboard box felt foolish in his hands in lieu of the offered glasses but at the same time he didn't want to abandon something he'd made for himself for the occasion.
Not knowing anyone he sat by himself in the grass with his notebook. He didn't even try and touch the drinks.. surely they were for other people?

There were a few things that Luka might have preferred to do instead of joining the gathered for the eclipse but with the desire to familiarize more of herself with the people who populated the island with them and to be more aware of the general layout, she had forced herself to go and participate.
In truth, she wasn't particularly excited to watch the eclipse as it passed because wearing fake glasses on top of real glasses wasn't exactly fun.
But, it could have been a once in a lifetime opportunity considering their new line of 'work' and she had decided that it was worth the mild inconvenience to show up and participate. Bonus points to the fact that the eclipse glasses were provided and they weren't forced to locate their own. (If they had been, Luka likely would have forgoed the whole affair.)
"Come on Lena," she called, glancing behind her where her shadow likely would have been. "Let's grab glasses and find somewhere to sit."

"Heh. Celestial names all around then. Seren means star." She grinned at the other woman, and leaned up enough to take a sip of her blue drink. "Think this thing'll dye my tongue like the blue lollipops I used to have as a kid always did?" Her smile had a slightly wry twist to it, but remained mostly cheerful. "And mmmm that sounds like an interesting dynamic between you two. I feel like I maybe have met your sister, at least in passing. Is she the elder of you two, and that's why she's always first, other then today?" Her eyes widened at the comment about the island moving. "It... I think I missed that part... How much does it move, I wonder? Because if it's a lot, we could... could see so many different constellations and such that I'd never otherwise have seen." She actually sat up all the way, and hugged her knees to her, for all the world like an excited child, clearly a big fan of star gazing. "And I haven't either... Haven't had a chance, and I really had no idea WHERE one might go to do it..."

Staring at the stars had always been nice, though it came borderline to being boring after the first twenty minutes or so. Maybe if she were actually up in space it could be kinda cool, but down here on Earth there were other things that could occupy her time better than simply staring upwards at giant balls of flaming gas and making whimsical wishes on their existence.
That being said, the idea of an eclipse was, admittedly, cool.
Hearing that it could cause blindness was both skeptical and daunting at the same time. Sure, anyone with half a brain would know better than to stare at the sun - but did the moon passing in front of it make it any more dangerous?
Thoughts danced around in her head as two fingers moved to shove her glasses further up the bridge of her nose. Her sister was beckoning for her to keep up, so her sneakers stopped their scuffling and she quickened her pace until she was sidled alongside her twin.
The idea of glasses sounded cheesy, even moreso when she actually received a pair. Was this some sort of joke? How did anyone actually expect her to see anything out of these?
Her own glasses were placed on top of her head as she squinted her eyes to get a better view through the nearly opaque filters of the flimsy paper glasses.
"Are these... are these supposed to be like this??"
She glanced over to Lulu and peered at her sister's pair.
"Lemme see yours - I think mine are busted."
