"Good afternoon! Tyiva, isn't it?" Mnyiri was always ready for a good spar, and with the threat of the Dretch on the horizon she wanted to make sure she was ready to take on anything. She steadied her stance, held her spear a loft and smiled. "I wrapped my blade in a leather sheath. It isn't much but I didn't want to cut you. Not saying you have to do the same, but I really don't like to bleed." There wasn't much more to it for padding, so while the blows would likely bruise at least they weren't likely to maim the poor girl.
"I hope you can dodge!" Mnyiri rushed at Tyiva, aiming low and swinging wide at her calf.

"It is." The Alkidike nodded towards her sister, "Mnyiri, correct?" It was rare that Tyiva volunteered to train with others now that she had begun travelling more on her own, but with the threat of the Dretch the Alkidike was more than willing to train, "Understandable. It's preferable if we train without mauling each other just in case as we need to be on guard." Always prepared and not distracted with injuries from training...
As the attack came towards her Tyiva pulled back, just enough to not take the brunt of the blow but enough to still feel a bit of it, and as she shifted on her feet the blade gave a small smile, "Good call about the leather sheath." Her own blades were wrapped in cloth and the sharper ends turned towards her so that she didn't slice her sister. What she did instead was position herself on the ground and strengthen her standing so that her next attack, after Mnyiri got another shot at her, would be more powerful than normal.

The only flesh Mnyiri wanted to cut was that elarians, so sparring without the sheath had never been an option. She needed to keep her sisters healthy and whole. Mnyiri shifted her hold on the spear, moving it from hand to hand with ambidextrous flexibility.
She brought her spear in a down, then thrust it upward abruptly, hoping to knock one of Tyiva's blades out of her hand. It would be enough to stun the woman, possibly enough to give Mnyiri the edge she needed.

Tyiva flicked her wrist so that her blade was brought away from the spear. As she tumbled to the side the agile Alkidke grinned towards Mnyiri, "Nice try, sister." If anything she was just playing the role of a target right now. Tyiva gritted her teeth at the thought before bracing herself. I suppose I should try to do something soon...

Mnyiri shrugged her shoulder with a little laugh. "I try." She couldn't move away fast enough, so she was hit with the brunt of the counter attack. It wasn't enough to knock her down but it was enough to knick her fingers and bruise her knuckles. She cried out, raising the shaft of her spear up so that she could kiss them.
"Gonna sting in the morning." It hurt a little, grabbing onto the spear shaft hard enough to swing around in a large arch, but she did so happily, with enough force to bring it back down onto Tyiva.

"Sorry." Tyiva's apology was a bit lacking since it was accompanied with a teasing grin, but the alkidike really didn't want to harm her sister. However, the thrill of battle was always enjoyable and the blade loved to stretch her limits. This time she was playing on speedy attacks as she dodged and danced around Mnyiri to tap her again with her blades..

This was turning out to be a bigger challenge than Mnyiri thought! Maybe she was spending too much time these days with her head in a tome, and not enough hours out in the field.
She took the attack and tried to come in with one of her own, only to miss. In close range combat she simply couldn't keep up. What she needed was to be able to put some distance between them, but at this rate she would be lucky just to defend herself.

Tyiva twisted her blades in her hands once more as she made a run pass Mnyiri. Perhaps this battle was wearing on her as she also misguided her blades and swept thin air rather than her sister's side. The blade could only clench her jaw in frustration before pulling back and bracing for the next attack.
