Tomorrow morning, lots of Americans are planning on visiting locations in the path of the eclipse. My own daughter is going with friends up to Oregon to be part of this historic event. I myself remember seeing eclipses when I was a kid but all the news reports keep saying that it hasn't happened in almost a hundred years and wont again for another 99 years. So, either I am having false memories or I've seen too many televised eclipses and have somehow convinced myself that I saw them in person.

The media likes to lie. There was a parial eclipse shortly after my 16th birthday and I'm a little over 25. Someone isn't fact checking before going to ink! lol.
There are several partial eclipses every year, you just have to be in a certain part of the world to see them. I was at my uncle's house for this one on my day off, my cousin made a bunch of those shadow boxes and we looked at it. Cool, much more impressive in the theoretical sense. I have a friend who got himself a cabin in the Smokey Mountains to see the eclipse.

Sounds like you had fun during the event. I went into my back yard with a couple of home made shadow boxes and only about a third of the sun was covered so it wasn't very impressive here in the middle of California.
Oh, we had more coverage than that. It was really cool because my cousin made so many of those shadowboxes she was lending them out and teaching the people next door and across the street how to use them. It was great, I was commuting into NY to work at the time and it was awesome to see such a sense of community.
