The sunburn had faded away, by now, leaving his nose peeling just slightly -- and, in its wake, there was a speckling of freckles across his face. It did nothing to make Vasily's expression look more serious or focused as he frowned out at the training field, arms wrapped around himself and chin tucked in just a bit. Instead it made him look young and just a little bit wild, distractable.

Not entirely inaccurate. He'd been standing at the edges of things and watching two hunters have it out for the better part of half an hour, and it was possible that Vash was just a little bit intimidated. His intention had been to practice his aim, or at least to make himself look like he was doing something.

Watching these two go at it, though, made him retreat back into himself, painfully aware that he was out of his depth here.

Something stiffened in Vasily's spine at the footsteps, and he twitched just faintly with the physical contact -- his head tipped so that he could frown at Gale and maneuver out from under the touch in a way that wasn't quite graceful. Even once the hand had been removed, a tension lingered between his shoulder blades.

"I didn't think there was much choice in that, huh?" His frown didn't fade, even if Gale's face was familiar. Even if he hadn't been that bad at Vash's awakening. He tipped his chin up a little higher, shooting a quick look back out to the fighters. "Either you figure it all out or they toss you to the wolves anyway to live or die."

"Like a fight, you mean?" It was probably mindless that Vash echoed the pose -- though, in his case, it came with shoulders hiked and something protective, closing himself off in a way that wasn't entirely casual. He looked Gale over once, a rake of eyes from his face down to his toes. Measuring.

"...I dunno. I wouldn't mind." He cleared his throat as his attention turned back up to Gale's face. "But I don't have a fancy sword or anything, it's just a gun."
