Shakespeare in the Park
"Don't you think, if they restricted the spot light by about 3 inches, this monologue would be so much more effective?" Acid leaned over to the phony next to him, whispering intently. The blue filly shot him a look and turned back to the stage. Her ear flicked towards him dismissively.
"It would intensify the monologue!" Someone in front of Acid turned around.
"Shh!" Thoroughly chastened, Acid shut up, but he couldn't help but thing the misuse of lighting detracted more from this production of Coriolanus than his words ever could. The only thing tragic about the play was how poorly lit everything was!

Glow sticks
Acid blinked up at the lights, completely thrown out of his enjoyment of the music. "Why did they strobe just then - it doesn't fit!"
A phony glanced at him, ears flicking towards him. "HUH?" The music was very, very loud, despite it being an all-ages event.
"The LIGHTS," he said. "They're WRONG!"
"Frong? OK, KIDDO, HAVE FUN." They didn't understand - the music sounded like blues and greys and sharp notes of oranges, not a strobe light. Oh, except there - right there. But even though he imagined it, it didn't happen.

A Medical Malady
Maybe his eyes were wrong. Acid had begun to notice more and more that the lighting was always wrong. Or, when it wasn't wrong, it could be better. Lighting needed to suit the space it occupied and compliment the things that went around in it. It was a sort of symbiotic relationship - phonies were affected by ambiance and lighting even if they did not realize it.
His head thunked down wearily on the wooden table. Acid looked around the coffee shop. It was one of the few places that the lighting was at a perfect level for this time of day, for this level of busy, for his head to be happy. Sighing, he looked over at the baristas, imagining rays of light dancing around them as they spoke. Maybe he was too weird.
