Father wouldn’t ever approve of her plan, neither would mother, but then again. This wasn’t to please either of them, this was to please herself and to make her own amends, to prove something to herself. She took a deep breath, ice colored eyes scanning around the den she shared with her twin brother, they weren’t very far from each other at any given time. He wasn’t here at the moment, good she could rehearse what she had to say to him.

She was playing the words over and over in her head. “ I have to do something brother, I must go.” Where? a question asked by herself to herself in her head, she was talking to the cold dirt around her as she tried to tell her brother what she was about to do. Even if he wasn’t here, she didn’t like to upset him, “Away, for a while… I will be back.” She only half lied, what she was about to do could very well end her life. “You don’t need to come.” Strychnine put on her strongest gruffest voice, the larger male never listened to her. “You are not coming.” Another firm almost command but she had no place to tell him what to do.

She flicked her tail back and forth, large ears sliding forward a bit. “ I just need to get out for a little.” Out, what if he took that as her trying to leave the pack, that wasn’t what she was trying to do. “You know get away, clear my head.” Would he be able to tell she was lying? The shewolf looked around the den again before she sighed at herself. Enough prepping, she was going to go talk to her brother.

The female slipped out of the den and headed towards the last place she had seen her brother. She smiled a little as she approached him. “Strychnos!” She let his name slip out of her mouth in the same way that she always spoke to him, a sweet smile slipping across her lips as she spoke to him. “ How is it going my darling brother, what are you up to?” She was acting sweet, she was up to something. The female wasn’t ever sweet, she was malicious and downright mean just because she could be and she liked it. “Up to anything good or are you busy being lame, as usual?”

She let her eyes slide over her twin, he was so strong yet he didn’t care to use it in the same way she did. His many battles covered his body and she shivered, how had he gotten that many scars, she wouldn’t ever understand it. The female stood up tall next to her brother, still not anywhere near his size. “I’m leaving.” She said it simply, announcing it proudly. “I’ll be back. Okay?” When did she ever need his permission?

Cocklebur’s death had changed the female a bit, she wasn't just malicious for fun anymore. She was just mean to say the least, twisted would easily describe the females state of mind. Her obsession with Vervain had depend and she was dead set on doing something that he would be proud of. Something to really sever her ties from her old family. It had been nightshade’s death that had really pushed her over the edge. The older wolf had taught her everything she knew about fighting had shaped the hunter into who she was today and his death had sent her a little bit over the edge. “You can't come.” they were twins, they shared almost everything besides their role in the pack. The male a former warhound the female a very proud hunter and boy did she love her job. “I'm going alone. “ she snapped as if he had told her she couldn't.

It wasn't often a wolf could find one of the Strych' twins by their lonesome. Usually, the duo were inseparable even despite the obvious tension. Despite coming from the same womb these two were as different as day and night. No matter what the situation there always seemed to be an extreme disagreement between the two of them. Strychnos' sister was welcoming of the pack that had abducted them. Instead of embracing the strict rules and harsh training that was laid upon them he instead mourned the comfort of is long lost mother. Some found it strange just how much grief the pup held onto well into his adolescent years. There were times when 'Nos even thought about telling his sister of his plans to go out searching for their parents. However, he knew the judgement he'd be met with. Something along the lines of 'why can't you just be happy with what you have' or 'you are going to wind up getting yourself slaughtered with thoughts like that'. His sister was always so critical of him.

It certainly wasn't without reason, though. It was crucial to Strychnos' very survival that he leave thoughts like that in the past. Embracing his new home was the only other option beside's death. It was known to both twins that betrayal was dealt with in a unforgiving manner. It had been drilled into their skulls from a young age after all. All that torture and agony almost seemed worth the rest if it meant relieving himself from his duties of slaughtering rivals. He had killed a wolf once or twice in his day but the rush that it brought most in his pack was absent. He felt no triumph or victory when taking a life. Only remorse and regret. Clearly the morals and outlook of his current /family/ was lost on him.

Now a days the brother of the twins settled with the fact that he could never abandon his beloved sister even though she is a thorn in his side. A thorn that had left many marks in the wake of her rage. Regardless of how many times she claws into his flesh or sinks her canines down on his shoulder he would never lash out. In most cases endurance is praised but for Strychnos it is the cause of many wounds. Perhaps even one or two were from his own doing. That was a secret his heart kept very closed off from the rest of the world. Even from somebody as close to him as his identical twin sister.

Like most days when the territory was in no need of defending Strychnos was taking a stroll around the perimeter of his den. A sort of subconscious guard always patrolling. It would be no surprise that a pack or two within the Dawnspire Valley would hold grudges against those who have such a ruthless and horrid reputation. Built like his father, and courageous like his mother, Strychnos was an opponent to be feared. Sadly, without the will to fight he was lacking a great deal. Nightshade found that breaking such a stubborn wolf would be a aggravating challenge all on it's own. As much as he tried to entice the war hound's untapped potential 'Nos always resisted. In the end he was more or less defensive rather than a good offense.

So there stood Strychnos, making his rounds around the perimeter of the den when he caught the faint scent of his /darling/ sister. Almost as soon as it registered in his mind his guard rose, body rigid and joints locked to better brace himself for any unseen assaults. Instead of a tackle or another various test of strength he was met by her words. Not just any words. Kind words. Finally, he turned his striking blue orbs in her direction. What on Earth was she playing at here? This wasn't his sister. Not with a sweet disposition like that.

Strychnos began to part his lips to address her inquiries, but before he could even think of a reply the shewolf flung an insult his way. It was almost as though she couldn't help herself from battering him one way or another. He hardly considered himself lame in the least but apparently it was a characteristic she dubbed him with. With a heavy scoff and a dramatic roll of his vivid eyes the stud turned his head back to what he had focusing on prior to this interruption. That was the forest and all that laid beyond their den.

"Yes, I suppose it is rather lame to be the first line of defense when our enemies come rampaging in to slaughter our brothers and sisters, hm? What a dishonorable role I play when putting myself in harms way for the betterment of the pack. What I wouldn't give to be a /honorable/ hunter like you, dear sister. At least then I'd be bringing home scraps from other's hunts and claiming them as my own," he teased with such sarcasm oozing from his pointed canines like venom. He knew all to well that his sister was a grand hunter and most of his hefty meals were supplied by her skills but what he lacked in fight on the battle field he made up for in sharp words.

Their sibling rivalry would have to be put on pause for now, though. It seemed she had other intentions other than to playfully joust with brother. She was saying farewell, which wasn't unheard off. It usually didn't play out like this though. Her words were short, and lacking in cruelty. She was quick to stand her ground, even before Strychnos had a chance to butt heads with her. Red flags began to wave in the back of his mind. Seas of red flags. However, instead of pressing on the matter he waited for her to finish her commanding. Watching her struggle so hard to hold some sort of dominance over him was always such an amusement to watch.

"Very well," he simply said before turning his eyes up to the sky. He took note of the sun's positioning in the sky and the clouds. "I expect you back before nightfall. Please, do try not to get yourself into any trouble. I'd rather keep my muzzle clean tonight." It wouldn't have been the first time he stained his coat with blood over his sister's actions, not would it have been his last he's sure. With that he began to saunter off, further continuing his patrol.

Unbeknownst to 'Nine the war hound had no plans on letting her wander off with very little indication of where she was going. He was far to protective to let his little - or at least little in a literal sense - sister roam these lands by herself. Without her fellow hunters she was an easy target for madness driven rogues who would like to do what they please with her. Not that he didn't think she could hold her own. He was just concerned. If he were to lose his precious sister what would he have left to keep him from slipping into despair? As he wandered off 'Nos kept his lungs filling deeply with her scent. He could track her down like a bloodhound if need be. Nine would not be alone on this journey.

Did he insult her hunting skills? Her mouth dropped open before she realized his sarcasm, he better have been kidding, she'd add another scar to the number he already had. The female let out a slight huff at the other, before she rolled her icy eyes. But he seemed to just shrug off the fact she planned on leaving alone and that made her mouth drop open. Staring at him for a second looking dumbfounded but he was walking away, he wouldn't notice it. Always off on some patrol, making sure everyone was safe. She huffed yet again as she closed her maw and glared at the male, blue orbs turning into slits as she watched him. What was wrong with her brother? He never so easily let her get away, in fact if she tried to go anywhere he followed her. He had gotten her out of at least a few sticky situations in their years so far.

While her brother pushed against his training, Strychnine dove into it. The more she was part of this pack the better she felt and the female had a horrible plan in her mind. If she killed the wolves who bore her, she had no ties to anyone but the Dawnspire Valley pack and her beloved Vervain. Even if he didn't pay her any mind she was addicted to the black and tan wolf. She shifted her weight a little as she watched her brother move off to find out if anyone was too close to their little home. He wanted her back before nightfall but simply getting close enough to the other wolf pack and not being caught would take her more than just a moons time. She cleared her throat to speak to her brother, she was antsy to leave but him seeming so nonchalant about her leaving almost had her hackles standing. It made ‘Nine’s stomach twist with this eerie sense.

“I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it back home tonight, I could be gone a few days.” but at least she was being honest with her brother. She took a few steps to follow the larger wolf, standing next to the male she was much smaller than him, but it added her speed when it came to catching her prey. Her paws barely made a sound on the ground behind him as the pair moved through the forest. Nine trailing her brother as he scouted out the area, this is how most of their conversations happened, he was too busy protecting her to stop moving and let anything happen in the least.

She stopped for a second to collect her thoughts and decide if she would just leave without more notice or information to her brother. She was worried down deep inside her that if it weren't for the stronger larger male she wouldn't be able to pull this off. The female knew that she was fast, it aided her in hunting down food almost everyday. She was agile and smart but did she have it in her to sneak into a rival pack and kill another wolf? She had killed others in raids, watched the life trickle from their eyes as she cackled above them but this time it was different. This kill weighed heavy on her heart possibly because this was more intentional than taking over a territory or thinning out numbers. This was a grudge she held, she wanted her birth family dead, everyone but the brother she actually held dear.

“don't wait up for me, and don't follow me! I don’t need your help!” Strychnine snapped at Strychnos as she picked up her feet once again to follow him and make sure she heard him. She even reached out and grabbed a mouthful of his tail holding onto him to try and get him to quit pacing the area around their den. She let the fluffy end of her brother go and glared at him in his same ice blue eyes. She would have shivered at his gaze if she had been even the slightest bit scared of the larger male. He barely hurt anyone or anything unless he really needed to, he didn't like to and he sure as hell wouldn't touch his sister. He cared about her, she wouldn't get hurt grabbing him like this.

“Are you even listening to me?” Her voice raised as she yelled at him, she hated when he ignored her. She was getting irratated at the other wolf now. Her hackles began to lift up as she got angry with him, before she huffed at the male who seemed as if he didn't care she was about to leave.

She wasn't going to let him know what her plan was but if she ended up dead ‘Nine wanted him to at least care that she was leaving. She let out a loud huff, shaking her fur out, eyebrows furrowed as she watched and waited. Did he care? If he didn't she was going to leave anyways and she wouldn't care if she came back. Unless Vervain approved of her slaughtering her birth parents, there wasn't much else for ‘Nine but her brother. If he didn't care, she didn't care.

Patrolling was his preference. At least when given the option to rather than venturing out on another possible suicide mission. It didn't seem to happen often but there was always the risk of death when a pack set out to pillage. It was their ruthless leader and tradition that kept these raids alive and, quite frankly, Strychnos was tired of being the pawn. The first line of offense when they'd play this twisted game. He did his duty to protect his allies and prevent family stripped wolves from taking karma into their own hand. Walking the perimeter of their territory was less violent and far more rewarding to Strychnos. He would much rather defend than attack.

'Nos was fine with letting Strychnine wander off on her own, or at least he wanted he to believe that much was true. In reality his ears were swiveling back every once in a while trying to catch hint of her paw pads thumping the ground as she would walk away. That never came though. It seemed his trick had put 'Nine in a rather off putting mood. Something to keep her lingering. The concern that could be heard clinging to every syllable she spoke almost had the young male snickering. His precious sister and her overwhelming desire to be on top of things, or at least on top of the things that concerned her brother. Withholding any emotions or information from his beloved, violent sister was a game to him. How long would she squirm and complain before she snapped those powerful jaws at him? The she-wolf caught up till she was matching his pace, standing by his side as she usually did when he tried to ignore her for sport. However, the reaction he received from her this time around had flipped the table. Strychnos only stopped in his tracks and craned his head around to stare at his sister with furrowed, concerned brows knit tightly together when he felt her jaws clamp down on his tail and prevent him from carrying onward.

"I am listening to every word you spit at me, 'Nine. Let me paraphrase so that I can make sure I understand. You are going off on your own to do some mysterious mission with no help from a fellow pack member? You plan on not telling anybody, even myself, where you're going or how long exactly you'll be gone. So in case anything does happen to you we wont know? Maybe weeks after your body is rotting and feeding the forest we'll start to wonder why you're not returning. By then the scavengers will have left no traces of you and I will be without the only blood relative I've ever known? Is that what you're trying to get across, dear sister?" Strychnos rarely ever sharpened his tone in this manner. He stood still as a statue as he tried to gauge what on Earth could have gotten into his sister and why she would ever leave him in such a hurry with little information.

"Did Vervain put you up to this? Is that why you're being so moronic? My sister would know better than to do such a thing. My sister wouldn't leave without telling me details," he narrowed his eyes to the point of tiny slits. Suspicious and scrutinizing. "You are not leaving this territory. You'll stay here and put this silly adventure behind you. Not because I am asking you to but because I am demanding it, Strychnine. Do you understand?" His voice had grown deep, rumbling in his broad chest while his eyes continued to boar into her.

User Image He snapped his words at her, his tone growing strong and demanding and that made her blood boil. She knew that he had the authority to do these things and that really upset the female, how could he think she was just going off to die. She knew as a hunter that she could so very easily protect herself and she felt that her brother really didn't think that she was capable of protecting herself and making her own decisions. The tan female huffed at him, puffing herself up to look larger than that male, but that was totally impossible. The male was considerably larger than his sister and she probably just looked silly next to him trying to look better than him. "Excuse You!" She was obviously pissed now, her eyes narrowing and her lip starting to pick up and show her teeth. " I am the best hunter this pack has ever seen! Nightshade taught me everything I know, he taught me to be strong and to fight. You always seem to think I can't do anything, but I bring you your food!" At least she had a point, she fed the male nightly.

" You want to know what I'm doing?" Because why would he ever think Vervain put her up to anything. " You really want to know?" Her words dripped with her irritation at the male. " I'm going to kill OUR family... I smelt them on the way here! The blood that flows through our veins is nothing to us Nos! They never fought for us, they didn't come looking for us, how could we let such cowards walk the face of the planet with the strength of our blood running through their veins?!" The way she spoke you could hear this hatred in her heart, she had formed it for the pack they had come from, all the teaching they received from Cocklebur, Nightshade and Hyacinthe she had taken to heart. She wanted nothing more than to show everyone that she's stronger than anything else that the world could throw at them. If she killed her family no one could soil their name. No one would prove her any less than she saw herself. She was too hardheaded for that.

She was seething at her brother, still boring holes into his being as she watched him. " I'm going to bring back a trophy.... Then everyone will know that I am strong." The female almost growled it out at the male before she turned herself around and began to head off. She was so mad at her brother right now that she couldn't be around him, if he came after her then she would deal with it. Her feet began to move faster and maybe she didn't realize that she was running. She had to get away from him or she would hurt him, she had done it many times, he was laid with scars from her losing her temper and right now, she didn't know if she would kill him or just maim him again.

The female moved about the forest, her nose down to the ground, before the male had anything else to say to her she was on her mission, she was finding the pack she was born into and she was going to end them. She had found the reminiscent smell on their long journey to the valley and now she was on her way to find it again, she had ingrained the spot in her mind. She was more than sure that her strong senses wouldn't let her down and she would so very easily find these other wolves, the one's that made her blood less than her brother, made her bronze not silver.
