Tobias never liked to admit that he was ever freaked out. That was against all that he stood for…but. He hadn’t liked going out walking at night by himself anymore. Not since he had been attacked by the boar monster. Thing. He was still quite convinced that it was nothing more than some messed up mutant escaped from goodness knows where, but…hey. Evan was freaked out about monsters too, so perhaps there really were monsters running around the city. Though…that did still sound quite stupid.
He hadn’t meant to be out after dark, but things happened and now he was hurrying home, though trying not to look as though he was hurrying too much. It just wouldn’t do to be acting like he was scared. Wouldn’t do to be scared.
Especially since there was someone nearby. For a moment he thought it was his brother, but that was stupid. What on earth would Laurie be doing out here anyway, besides, his brother wouldn’t be caught dead in an outfit like that. Walking past the male, Tobias inclined his head in a gesture of camaraderie. They were both guys. Chilling in the city. Doing their business. They were not monsters, and that made it easy to not be…freaked out. At all.
Not that he would ever admit that was what was going on.

Amesite was behaving well enough, doing his job, gathering energy.
When he’d seen his brother, lurking out in the night. Up to no good, no doubt. Not that anyone would believe him if he’d said sweet, precious Tobias was up to something. In his youth, he’d have given anything to catch him in the act—to really catch him in something. Something his parents couldn’t brush off or deny or yell at him for ‘harassing’ his little brother.
Perfect little Tobias.
Amesite’s lip curled just slightly.
Tobias was out, all alone. No one to protect him, no one to defend him.
And maybe, just once, Amesite could get his licks in.
Besides; he could always do with a little extra energy.
So, as he got closer to Tobias, he prepared to drain some energy from him; he just needed to stall for a little time.
“Are you always so friendly with strangers?” he prompted casually, even if the attention had been only cordial. “I heard on the news there were strange attacks happening late at night. Shouldn’t you be a little more careful, or…do you not care what happens to you?”
He was polite, courteous, but there was an undeniable tone of danger to his voiced. He wanted it like that, though. He wanted to see Tobias squirm, for once.

Hmm…perhaps the nod had been a bit too much. When the male began to talk, Tobias felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end and he swallowed, frowning slightly. “Wow. You’re a little creepy, aren’t you? Do you always come up to strangers and start talking about the dangers of the night?”
He forced a grin, crossing his arms over his chest and pausing in his walk. It wouldn’t do any good to start running. Or any good to really…well. Do anything but talk to this creep. He had a reputation to uphold, after all.
Tobias really didn’t like the way that this guy was talking to him, it…it made him feel rather endlessly uncomfortable, and once again the teal haired male wished he had brought his car to the mall, or left earlier…or even just had someone with him. Idly he wondered if he should try to call the cops…or maybe that cutie in the purple would come and rescue him again and walk him home. That would be…
It wasn’t like he needed to be rescued from a stupid creep. He could handle creeps. Most likely he could handle creeps. “Anyway. It was a pleasure chatting with you, but as you said, it’s late and I do need to be heading home.” Tobias raised a hand, hoping the guy would get the hint and just let him go. If not. Well. He would deal with the if not later. But…hopefully not.

Amesite couldn’t help but smile, though it wasn’t entirely kind. It was amused, at least.
“Wow, you’re so polite.” The sarcasm was heavy. “Here I am, just expressing concern, and you lead with an insult…? For all you know, I was just trying to make sure you stayed safe.”
They were close enough that he could start draining energy; his hand curled at his side and he prepared for it.
With his other hand, he gestured over his shoulder. “So, even though you were sort of an a**, I’ll give you a small warning. You don’t want to go that way. Something big kept rustling in the bushes. It sounded like a dog, but it was bigger than anything I’d ever seen. But, I mean, if you think you can handle that…”
He shrugged again. “Be my guest.”
He was just buying time so he could drain him dry. Not kill him, but he really wouldn’t have minded if he left Tobias passed out here like some idiot.

Tobias was about to say something scathing, something rude and something that would perhaps end in a fight with this guy, but his words were stilled when he mentioned something rustling in the bushes. Bigger than a dog, and all Tobias could think of was the mutant boar and for a moment, fear flashed in his eyes. “Oh. Well.”
Shrugging and clearing his throat, the male nodded. “Thanks for the warning then. I guess.” He glanced towards the bushes in question and then looked again at Amesite. “…If there’s something in there, why aren’t you getting the heck out of here? You seem like a guy who values his neck, so why are you sticking around if something strange is rustling around?”
For a moment, the thought of ‘Unless they’re your monster’ moved across Tobias’s mind but he quickly dismissed it. People didn’t control monsters. That was stupid. And even though the news talked about stuff like that…
Well.
‘Fake news’ was everywhere nowadays.
He reached up and rubbed at an eye, yawning despite his efforts to stop it. He had a busy day. And this stress about monsters was doing nothing to help that.

Amesite wore a barely tempered smirk. “That’s sort of exactly what I’m doing.”
He reached his hand behind Tobias, making contact with his back as he began to push him along with him in the opposite direction. The contact was all he need to really sap some energy out of his stupid younger brother. “Come on. We’re probably safer if it’s the two of us. There’s a detour up ahead you can take, it’ll put you down a busier road. That way if something does happen you’ve at least got a chance of someone helping you.” Amesite knew little more than that; all he knew was that he certainly hadn’t seen anything on his way over and he could not have been more delighted with Tobias’ reaction. He seemed tired and compliant—more than Amesite had ever had the pleasure of viewing. He was used to Tobias always getting his way, throwing a tantrum or pouting for their parents, or just utilizing his status as sweet, precious, baby Tobias. But he was winning, tonight. It was a small victory, just some energy, but maybe he’d drain enough tonight and go over tomorrow and harass him. He didn’t know what the effects of a good draining were but he was praying it was like a bad hangover specifically so he could go piss off his brother.

Tobias stiffened when the creepy as ******** guy touched him, but he had to at least slightly agree that they might be safer in numbers…but did the guy have to touch him? Jeeze. He walked with him though, and it seemed as though every step he took got harder and harder to take.
After about twenty feet he rubbed his eyes and yawned again. “Yeah. Yeah okay. You know, I’m really not that far from where I live, I’ll be okay from here, seriously.” He didn’t like this guy. Didn’t really like anything about him, and he was so tired. It felt like he had been awake for a day and had run a marathon…but he had no reason to be this exhausted. Unless he was getting sick, and if that was the case, well. The germs could burn in hell.
He moved away from the guiding hand and very nearly stumbled as he did so. “So…yeah. Thanks for the help and everything but…Seriously. I have to just get home. It’s been a day, you know?” Honestly, he wasn’t sure what possessed him to even walk this far with such a guy. Ugh. Gross. Tobias shook his head, trying to clear whatever fog had moved into his brain and jogged a few feet away from the darker haired male, before continuing off towards his house.
Monsters be damned.
He was ******** tired. Nobody would want to mess with him tonight.

Amesite watched him as he left; he didn’t bother pursuing if only because he had what he wanted. Enough energy to met his nightly quota—only, it was better, because it came from Tobias. He’d enjoyed watching his younger brother be in such an uncomfortable position.
He had more energy than Amesite expected; he had really wanted him to pass out just so he could leave him here, but. Maybe he’d sleep in past noon and get scolded for being a deadbeat.
Maybe.
The lieutenant sighed; it was a good dream, at least. Even if he severely doubted their parents could ever bring themselves to judge Tobias.
Still, his schedule was clear for tomorrow.
He’d have to drop in bright and early.
