Today was a day for discovery! Planning excursions to the desert always put the young jadeblooded rebel in an energetic mood. They were also rather pleasant for Mother, who much preferred journeys of discovery over those of exuberant destruction of royalist property. If the young boy didn't respect her as much as he did, he would have probably gotten himself into some more seriously sticky situations by now.
Meechi had taken out his all terrain four wheel jalopy to navigate the sands. The mechanical monstrosity was VERY clearly made by a child and not very subtle at all. Meechi still hadn't quite figured out how to get it too go much faster than Mother's flying speed, so that was just fine for his lusus.
The two started traversing the dunes near Chittentown, the desert was a vast sea of nothingness, so the virgin mother grub urged him to not veer too far into the wastelands. Her charge agreed, every now and then after a big sand storm he would get lucky and run across an old broken piece of pottery, or other useless trinket from times long since past. Anything that might even have a remote chance of being connected to the jadebloods of old gave the little rebel a reason to get excited.
Taking a different route than usual the two began to notice a hive in the distance.
"I wonder if it's a ruin!" the boy yelled, making a beeline for the structure. Mother knew better of course, but during daylight hours the potential for danger was much lower (barring the occasional shambling corpse that she made sure to avoid if they ever spotted one). As they drew closer, Meechi's excitement dulled, the hive looked very much modern, perhaps in use, probably nothing too interesting. None the less he slowed down as they neared to give it a solid once over.
From within the hive itself, it would not be hard to spot the little jadeblood and his mother grub curiously perusing the abode's perimeter.
