Rex approached the beach with his little green bucket and spade, He'd had an amazing idea for his next little stall (He regularly did a competitive stall with his best friend Shou, see who earned the most money - Shou nearly always won!) He was going to collect pretty shells, Stones & Sea glass and glue them onto shabby looking mirrors he found at thrift stores or garage sales! He was full of ideas and was always trying to challenge himself when it came to selling - His wish was for one day to be a big selling, business man! He wasn't sure what he was going to sell yet, but he wanted to practice as much as he could!
He looked along the large stretch of beach, where would be a good place to search?! - he hoped his bucket was big enough!

Tolaram was out on the beach today hunting for shells and stones on the shore, he considered going out into the sand and water, but Tolaram wasn't sure if he could swim since he had never tired so he decided that would be a very bad idea. Tola was just doing his own thing, he didn't normally seek others out though they tended to find him somehow. Tolaram wasn't sure how so many beings found him he wasn't a loud being. Then again maybe it was just his luck that he would frighten others by accident. Oh well, he would continue doing his thing anyway.
Rex noticed the other Nightmare approaching the beach, well that was a good sign, if they were here that meant there was probably good things to find in this stretch - Unless they were here for swimming but did Geists swim? Rex couldn't see why not but he certainly wasn't sure, he definitely needed to do more reading about the different nightmare and Daydream races - Especially if he was going to be a great salesman one day, he wanted to appeal to everyone and knowing he was he selling too would help!
"'Scuse me" Rex called out "Is this a good place to find pretty shells or stones?" Rex was confident and had little fear of strangers - Hopefully the nightmare wasn't put off by him being inquisitive!

Tolaram's expression was calm when he saw the freshling who greeted him, "I certainly hope so since I am here to collect shells and stones for my collection, are you also here to hunt for shells and stones to collect?" Tolaram asked curiously. Tolaram looked around for a parent or a caretaker a freshling shouldn't be on a beach by themselves. "Are you here with someone?" Tolaram asked wondering if this freshling had somehow slipped away from their parent or caretaker when the guardian wasn't looking. Tolaram had done that when he was a freshling wandering off without thinking of telling his caretaker first.
"Erm..." Rex looked around nervously, He had meant to mention it to someone before he left, but he had been so excited about his ideas it may have just slipped his mind, He was rooted to the spot... "Well... I erm..." He gestured around in a non-committal way "They should be here somewhere." He said very un-realistically.
"I was looking for pretty shells and stones so I can make some fancy mirror frames and sell them on for a profit. But If there is a really pretty one I'll let you have first refusal" He was all about making something good, but he didn't want to stop someone else from their experiences! Besides he might come to Rex's stall one day and he wanted the other nightmare to remember he was good to them!

Tolaram nodded as the little freshling seemed to be admitting they were here by themselves "Alright then I will keep an eye on you, then once we are done here I will walk you back to the school dorms freshling area so the caretakers can keep an eye on you. Ah you intend on selling things for profit, that is very clever. Alright you look over there and I will look over here, you can keep the stones and shells we find if you like for your business." Tolaram offered "I am Tolaram by the way, what is your name?" Tolaram asked the little freshling.
Rex was a little suprised that the Nightmare took it so well. "Thank you Tolaram..." He held out his little claw towards him "I'm Rex, Do you often come to the beach alone?" Rex was quite often alone himself, mostly because some freshlings found him to be a bit to bossy, he didn't mean to be that was just his way! (He liked being right!) He started his search, filtering the little stones and things through his claws.
"Is there a knack to finding things? like special tricks? or secret places?" Rex asked Excitedly, it seemed unlikely and perhaps he'd read one to many secret hidey hole inspired stories, but he liked the idea that together they would run into a cave laden with Crystals and special secret things.
Maybe fight a dragon or two?

Tolaram nodded "I go many places by myself now I am a junior I don't need a caretaker to watch me, I am an orphan so I have no family asking where I am either. Nice to meet you, Rex." Tolaram thought a moment "Well with shells sometimes it is the season and sometimes the tides and time of day, looking in little coves that others don't think to check. I was with a hybrid the other day who had a good idea for finding lovely stones. We went to the river and found some very pretty stones there. " Tolaram said picking up a blue shell that had a pink shiny inside.
"That makes sense, I can't wait till I'm a junior I am going to do ALL THE THINGS." He held his arms out wide. He spotted a lovely pearly looking stone and picked it up carefully looking at it thoughtfully, "I wonder how the sea makes the stones look so pretty? not like boring old regular stones, these are special." He looked at the shell Tolaram had found "I wonder what sort of creature that one came from? If I end up doing this alot I might look into getting a book about different types of under the sea creatures." Clearly today was for of wondering for Rex, he enjoyed discovering new things, the more he learnt the more he knew and could use that knowledge in his future!

Tolaram laughed "You still won't have enough magic to imbue stones till you have graduated from the academy and neither will I for that matter, but as a junior, I am able to start learning magic spells, but I don't be as powerful as a senior or graduated senior. " Tolaram smiled and picked up a pile of sand and said "This is how the sea tumbles the stones in the sand and then in effect shine the stones, much like a rock tumbler dose in an artificial sense." Tolaram helped Rex finish gathering stones and shells and then said: "Come now it is getting late I need to get you back to the freshling dorms before they know you are gone." Tola smiled and said, "That is a very good idea learning is a smart thing for something interested in business."
"Oh yeah... I hadn't thought about soul stones..." He thought for a minute a claw up to his chin "!Okay well I can still do alot more things than I can now, right?" He gathered up his bucket, it sure was alot heavier than when he carried it here, he was pretty sure he had enough to decoarate 3 or 4 mirrors! "Thankyou for staying out here with me Tolaram! It was re with someone who knew what they were doing! If you'd like to go to the beach again with some company I'd love to go with you!"
He smiled happily to himself, he was proud for having met someone new and having the confidence to chat to them!
