Some of the Kagerou posts that I think I can show off and that haven't been shown off elsewhere. You'll see that there's a lot of posts from a... event that made her a bit... off... The posts that use the picture of a guy and a girl. Those are mainly because I rarely rp that sort of stuff and never have characters that usually act like that. However, as I am trying to expand my horizons rp-wise, I thought it would be a good idea to show examples of that sort of roleplay.

Last time I tried to apply for something out of my comfort zone, I only had applications that showed my usual style and the gm felt that I wouldn't fit. Alas,
she (he? it was a female avatar I think) might have been right. I'm just going to learn from my mistake and try to put a broader array of works.

Click to show.Kagerou had been ready to fight for her life, but as everyone else jumped into action--commands, warnings, and other information criss-crossing the room--she stood frozen in abject terror. Swarming through the door and pressed against the windows (including, no doubt, the window that was kept covered by a swarm of bugs) were faces of people Kagerou loved and respected. Each and every one of them was accurate down to the smallest detail save for the grotesque scars and twists that disfigured them into monstrous forms.

Leading the pack: her mother and father. Her mother's beauty remained even with the two gashes that tore her mouth open into an eternal smile and the empty eyeholes that gave a peek into the gray matter held within the skull. Her father's face, on the other hand, was mercilessly torn asunder. His nose was completely obliterated, his ears shredded, his eyes looked like someone had shaved right over their surface (even taking the eyelids), and his tongue was scarred beyond recognition. Still, though, Kagerou could not help but find it strange that her father had yet to stumble in his merciless advance. Although, maybe that was because his ribs had formed another pair of legs so now he had six legs, instead of just two, to keep himself steady.

Following right behind her parents, were many others Kagerou recognized. Her uncle, her uncle's deceased wife, all four of her grandparents, the charming lass that had acted as her mentor when she was just learning how to row a gondola, all the people she got to know in detail while everyone worked on reconstructing Kirigakure, and even those neighbors who had died in the great flood. They came in like rolling waves, crawling over each other, each grossly disfigured face showing itself before quickly being overlapped by a monster bearing another face. There was no end to the people Kagerou respected and cared for. Some may she was too nice.

Just seeing made Kagerou shake terribly. She could think well enough to know that this could just be an illusion. However, she couldn't know for certain. After all, weren't the wooden monsters that attacked months ago actually humans encased within a monstrous wooden body? Didn't Kagerou just meet someone, Tetsuya, who was a human turned into a nightmare? Even before that, didn't the white demon claim that it held the spirit and body of someone who Nozomi knew? Everyone had just mysteriously disappeared, what if this was what had happened to them. She didn't know.

Hearing made everything so much worse. The voices of everyone Kagerou knew twisted into a massive howl of mixed emotions. Kagerou could pick out her father's voice, shouting loud warnings and telling Kagerou to run and save herself. Her mother's voice was the exact opposite and it spoke in a gentle, soothing tone, but that made sense. Her mother couldn't help but make everything an act, so her voice didn't need to make sense. The face of her uncle's wife wailed and moaned, grieving for her death and the death of her child. Her uncle, so unlike his usual self, called frantically for his wife and would repeat over and over how he just saw her. Kagerou's grandparents on her mother's side berated Kagerou for standing there unable to do anything. Kagerou's grandparents on her father's side were completely off topic with their offers of sweets and insistence to look at how pretty the flowers were. There was more babble, and even as it meshed into a giant wave of noise, Kagerou felt like she could pick out what each voice was saying. She couldn't hear herself think over the voices. Even if she could, what they said were proving successful in distracting her. It was all so surreal, but so was everything about this nightmare.

Kagerou was in bad shape to be reasoning herself out of the panic. She couldn't think straight. If she had been calm, then she would have realized that there was a danger she had to react to as much as she didn't want to face it, so it didn't matter if the monsters were actually her loved ones. She didn't want her fears to be true, but if they were… Just the thought alone made Kagerou tremble so hard that she couldn't keep a firm grip on the kunai she had pulled out for self-defense and it clattered to the floor when she dropped it. She wanted to run. She wanted to throw up. She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. What she should have been doing was listening to all of the information being tossed around the room, orders on the formation everyone should take and alerts on the actions of the monsters among them, but she couldn't do that. She was frozen in place, mentally pulled in so many directions that she wasn't going anywhere.

It was Inka's fire that thawed the emotional freeze entrapped Kagerou's mind. When he roasted the approaching threat, the faces and voices of those Kagerou would have done anything to save, she let out a terrified, "NO!" at the top of her lungs. That was it, though, because the "no" that left her lips brought her to her sense. the fragments her mind had been pulled into slowly collected together to fix itself, She blinked, shook her head, and moved back, having taken a step forwards when she shouted. The monsters were still monsters and she still felt a pang of pain when she saw the faces burning in the flames. Kagerou had not stopped shaking, nor had her fear abated even the tiniest bit. However, she could think again and she could differentiate between what was important and what was futile.

Kagerou had collected herself in the nick of time because just then Nozomi came bursting in with orders from Jack. The just calmed medic was still a little slow after her recovery, so it took her a bit to recognize "Jack" as the name of the Mizukage. That was fine, it wasn't like these directions required all that much action from Kagerou because she was huddled right near Miki, the center of the fallback point Inka had decided on. Barring any unpredicted movements from Jack, there wasn't really anywhere Kagerou could go to "stay out of Jack's way."

Then she saw Jack. His entrance had been heralded by a bubble of twisting darkness that burst into golden light. It felt like something that should precede the heroic return of the handsome hero just in the nick of time to save the day. Most of that probably actually did apply, but definitely not the handsome part. Kagerou had been expecting the Mizukage, who was anything but the figure of a hero, but she couldn't expect the Mizukage looking quite the way he did: gem-like eyes, bulging muscles, strangely proportioned fingers. She should have been helping the others, whether it was by continuing to heal or helping the ponytailed girl hold the table against the window, but for the second time in no more than five minutes, Kagerou was mentally shocked into doing nothing but stare.

Jack looked unreal, but Kagerou still recognized him, and at least this time, she had enough of her senses about her to be receptive of the rest of the world. The monsters ran in fear. This was certainly the arrival of a hero, but he looked anything but heroic, or at least the pure type of heroic that the light bursting from darkness would suggest. If Kagerou had to guess, he looked angry. A very scary kind of angry that she had seen maybe only once before. About what, she could only guess until he lay down the bundle ever so gently and she saw that it was a human. A sentimental touch, and her guess became that much more likely.

The reason for the monsters' retreat was quickly made obvious. While Kagerou's was still curiously eyeing the laid bundle of human and the normal flooring beneath him, she saw, in her peripheral vision, Jack's cloak open wide. In the next instant, it wouldn't be exaggeration to say that everything went to hell. First power then a cold. Already, monsters were dying left and right. Then the storm hit and the office tremored as nature itself seemed to echo Jack's anger. Kagerou pivoted quickly, keeping her balance despite the rumbling of the ground. she gave the concern a fleeting thought before setting it aside as a problem she could do nothing about. Through the broken windows, the wind and rain streamed through relentlessly. She could only see that a storm raged in their immediate vicinity, but her intuition told her that it probably covered the entire village.

As time passed, the shaking only got worse. Before long, Kagerou would be forced to a knee if she didn't want to hit her face. Although, she didn't want to have to stop here. "Keep Miki safe and get her to a hospital asap when this is all over," she told whoever was listening. Miki wasn't stable yet but there was nothing more Kagerou could do that someone else couldn't. All Miki needed now was someone to keep her safe from the quaking. It was hard to accept, but she couldn't let herself tunnel vision. There was already someone else unconscious in the short time she had spent obsessed over a cause she couldn't do much to help.

Kagerou stumbled as quickly as possible to Inka and Shadow. Although, she didn't quite make it, what with how it felt like the earth itself was trying to topple everything atop it, and she ended up falling flat on her face about a foot from where the two kept themselves steady. By the time she picked herself up, though, the shaking had already stopped. Kagerou hesitated for a moment, and the slowly growing light drew her eyes to the window where she could see the first signs of daylight since this nightmare began. she wondered if the nightmare, the outrageous show of power, the storm, the shaking, if everything was over.

However, she didn't finish that thought. The nightmare may have been over, but the fight was not. Not for her at least. She crawl-walked the final few steps to Inka and knelt close to him. "Excuse me," she remembered that this was her superior she was talking to and tried to have some patience, "I have a little medical training. Could I please see him?". A hospital would be great right now, much better than what Kagerou could offer, but before moving him anywhere, it would be best to make sure he should be moved in the first place.

While her voice was measured, her arms were reaching out impatiently, ready to either receive Shadow or examine him while he rest in the other's arms. Her eyes were in an even greater rush, their attention wholly on the black-haired teen. She didn't recognize him (when she entered the office, she had been too concerned with Miki to even finish looking for the voice that gathered everyone) and was fairly certain she would if she knew who he was. He had cat ears and a tail. That wasn't normal and, if circumstances weren't so dire, she would have immediately wanted to pat them. Right now, though, the only thing going through her head about the extra appendages was the hope that they were the only thing different from the default human body. There was also a wooden(?) arm with some sort of glowing inside that could be seen through a splinter in the outer coat, which Kagerou could recognize as a puppet arm from watching her mother but knew nothing more about. She didn't know what to do about the mechanical attachment, but she did know to look at where it connected with flesh to check for any signs of irritation or damage from hard material budging against soft flesh. Other than the anomalies, the only thing Kagerou's eyes could make out was, strangely enough, frostbite. She wasn't sure how it got there, which made her wonder if maybe it wasn't some sort of dusting darkening the skin, but it certainly looked like frostbite. Nothing told her why the male was unconscious. That meant the problem was probably internal, either physical or mentally.

• I'll think of a name later - Through the use of custom techs, Kagerou can swap between the normally limited abilities and techniques for her sharingan, potentially giving her access to all eye abilities and mangekyou techs. She can never have more than the written limits at any one time (e.g. access to all eye abilities but cannot use more than two at a time). In addition to learning the required custom and whatever additional requirements that custom might have, Kagerou needs to fulfill certain conditions for a safe swap. Each Sharingan ability or technique swapped must be retrained and adjusted to, a process that takes twenty [20] posts at first for each Sharingan ability/technique, is reduced by two [2] posts every time the Sharingan ability/technique is safely retrained, and can take a minimum of six [6] posts per Sharingan ability/technique. If necessary, Kagerou can perform a riskier, instant swap on the fly without the readjustment period, but these swaps can only last for up to five [5] posts and disables the Sharingan, which needs to recover from the strain, for twice [x2] the number of posts that the swap lasted for. Techniques learned with the 'To Copy' Sharingan ability, which can be swapped out, are not forgotten but must be retrained every time Kagerou safely swaps to the 'To Copy' ability. Instant swaps to the 'To Copy' ability give Kagerou all of her copied techniques without needing to retrain them. For every time Kagerou safely swaps to her 'To Copy' ability, her copied techniques take two [2] less posts to retrain, going down to a minimum of one [1] post to retrain each copied technique.

• Miracle Performance - Kagerou can perform healing eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Mind and Body - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Evergreen Growth - Life always finds a way, especially when it's helped by someone who truly cherishes it. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Unfortunately, some may argue even cruelly, Kagerou felt no desire towards Nozomi despite her attempts. The pout was cute and the sudden undress was noticed, but none of it could really stop Kagerou. To put it simply, he didn't really care for what he saw asides from the normal, for him, medically based interests.

Even Nozomi's allusion to baby making was taken in stride by the usually calm medic. He'd figured this little event out, or so he thought. A loss of inhibition and sudden passion for a certain someone, regardless of sex. Oh, and of course the obvious sex change. However, results were different from each person, and it appeared to affect only a few, much like the nightmare earlier in the day. In fact, so far, it appeared that only those affected by the nightmare were affected by this new phenomena. He was curious about it all, so of course under the influence of this little mind twister, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from thinking about it whenever the chance arose.

Under the rules Kagerou recognized, Nozomi's reaction was "normal," and so was his desire to get Nozomi off of him as soon as possible now that it was obvious she was okay. Kagerou was just about to do that and give Nozomi a formal rejection when he suddenly felt her hand. The touch, he had actually been trying to consciously avoid it, but she just had to ruin that and cause Kagerou to buckle. A muffled "Mmph!" and gritted teeth at the unfamiliarly pleasant sensation. His head tossed back as his grip, which was still on Nozomi's breasts, tightened and both legs tensed just a little, causing a bit of a jump in both. "God damn it, Nozomi," the words thoughtlessly left Kagerou's mouth, harsh and making clear that he did not welcome her touch. Still, he also could not hide that it had felt good even as his head pushed into the wall to lean as far away from the red head as possible. There was a flush on Kagerou's face and his breathing had already gotten a little heavy at the mere touch. her mind decided, There was some perverted academic thinking going on right now, . Not to mention, the warmth and weight of a living body on top of Kagerou's legs. The thought of pretending that Nozomi was Shadow briefly crossed her mind. A release sounded wonderful. The more she thought, the more she craved.

Kagerou could not stop himself, but he also couldn't betray Shadow. At what point between two clashing desires did inhibitions start to reappear? Never, it seemed. There was nothing Kagerou could do to make the next few moments any gentler for Nozomi. Kagerou's knee jerked up in such a fashion that Nozomi would slide right off of it onto the ground. Hopefully, the speed and Kagerou's hold on Nozomi's boobs would guarantee the success of this. Once his leg was free, Kagerou stood up, bringing Nozomi up as well, hands shifting from boobs to below the armpits. No considerations were made for the red head's comfort. Aside from the bump and sudden rise, Kagerou probably also pulled on some of her hairs in the process. Some unnecessary dusting off of Nozomi's shoulders that Kagerou did without thinking, not like it would help with her probably sore bum and armpits.

Arms holding out Nozomi as far away as possible as Kagerou's breathing grew heavier, Kagerou said the rejection he wanted to let out, "I'm sorry, Nozomi, but I love Shadow." He had wanted to bow while saying this rejection, but that was too risky. Instead, Kagerou settled with staring Nozomi straight in the eyes. Despite the circumstances, just saying Shadow's name made Kagerou smile blissfully and blush. She explained further, still smiling goofily, "I can't betray him or my love for him. I mean, it's even in our names: Shadow and Kagerou." Kagerou realized he was saying something really embarrassing, but he didn't care.

Without another word, Kagerou picked up the shoulder bag and anything inside of it that had scattered from his person and entered Takeda's room. The door to the room closed shut behind him, but it did not lock. Kagerou knew the hospital rooms could not lock without special permission, so he didn't stop to try. He just kept on walking to reach Takeda's bathroom. [5/5; Tier 1 reached!]

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Takeda's bathroom was white, clean, and sterile. Though, it was a little cramped, and seemed even more so as it had no windows. In short, it was everything you'd expect of a hospital bathroom, especially an unused one. Too bad it wasn't going to be like that for long.

The bathroom of Takeda's hospital room shut louder than Kagerou meant it to. He couldn't be bothered to control the strength that he closed the door. He just wanted it done fast. He was already half undressed. Unable to take it any longer, he had stripped off his shoes, socks, pants, and even underwear en route to the bathroom. It was liberating, to say the least. Freedom at least. Kagerou felt like his lower body could fly. At least one part was already up. Once inside, the shoulder bag was unceremoniously dropped to the ground and Kagerou took off everything above the belt in one go: hoodie, sweater, undershirt, and bra. He was trying, again, to hold onto what little bits of self-restraint he could find, a feat he could only achieve because he thought of it as loyalty to his love.

However, once he was in the bathroom, he lost those few threads of inhibition. As they say, "Out of sight, out of mind." Nozomi, the cause of this sudden fight for loyalty, had not been seen in the last few seconds. He lost his reason, and his desires flooded. It didn't matter now if Nozomi came in. This was the turning point. Kagerou wanted it, and as expected, he couldn't do anything about it but to do it.

Once naked, Kagerou got a full view of his whole body. In the mirror, his face was flushed red and sweating with the exertion of keeping his twitching hands above the belt. His long green hair was in disarray from being thrown and then taking off his clothes without thought. However, it wasn't the mirror that showed the object of her craving, so it only received a very cursory observation before Kagerou's eyes dropped to her lower body. She looked down at the cause of it all and the blush grew stronger. curiosity filled Kagerou as he reached down to the offending body part. One touch and Kagerou's mind was filled with lewd thoughts.

Considering Kagerou had only known Shadow briefly, his head was doing an amazing job of thinking about him. There was Shadow unconscious, hurt and vulnerable in Kagerou's arms. Then Shadow looking so terribly lost and confused. Kagerou cursed aloud as he remembered that he had only given a very rushed explanation as comfort in that past when he was sane. Memory loss on top of this. He could only imagine what Shadow must be going through. He should be by his love's side right now, not in the bathroom and imprisoned by his inability to resist. In general, the desire to protect swelled up in Kagerou as he remembered his fleeting meetings with the cat-eared boy.

However, alongside the tame memories were those images created by his uninhibited imagination. Most were tame: Shadow blushing, Shadow focusing on fixing that broken puppet arm of his, Shadow eating, Shadow with white cat ears above his own. However, a few were not, and Kagerou wouldn't have been able to say what he had seen to be able to conjure such pictures. However, once he started, he could not stop. It didn’t matter what he treasured more. His body was craving that certain sensation and his mind was too addled to stop the desires now that they had started.

Like before, Kagerou buckled from a simple touch, sinking to his knees. He didn't completely collapse only because his arms found support through the sink. Well, one arm. The other arm was busy. Heavy breathing. More touching. More looking. Kagerou wanted to know. Kagerou wanted to feel. Kagerou wanted to see Shadow, but not like this. Not like this at all. It was the first time he had felt like this. Even as a girl, he hadn't done anything similar. Needless to say, he was going out of control. [6/10]

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The deed was done. Of course, she had been rather vocal through it all. Not extremely so. Kagerou didn't scream or anything. Her bells, ringing with the movement of her wrists, were by far the loudest thing in the room, but there was plenty of moaning Shadow's name sometimes paired with other words to express either Kagerou's devotion or impatience, various methods of inhaling and releasing breath while under pressure, and whatever other noises people made when doing such things. Kagerou had even smelled and tasted the deed. For science, of course. Seriously. Smelling and tasting had nothing to do with Shadow. Her reason was, and it was so true that Kagerou immediately felt more frightened than she already was at the power of love combined with the power of unstoppable desire. She couldn't believe she had just thought that, but she did.

Mostly sated for now, Kagerou washed up and cleaned up the bathroom, which was mostly just splashing enough water on the floor for everything to drain down the drain in the center of the bathroom. The cup that the bathroom came with was really handy for this task. The bathroom would be wet, but at least there wouldn't be obvious signs of what he had done. Kagerou wouldn't have cared except he kept on stepping in the stuff.

Now, Kagerou was naked and wet. Clean up had been a bit messy because the cause of it was messy He looked at his dripping face in the mirror. Yeah, he had to clean that, too, thanks to inexperience and lack of control. In the mirror, he saw… not the spitting image of his father in his youth. "Are you a boy, or are you a girl?" he teased the reflection gently, leaning onto the sink. He actually looked fully male, just as he had felt, but it appeared that his face still looked more like his mother's than his father's even after the gender switch. Kagerou clearly was no girl, though. He was generally bigger in every way and while he did not have the well-defined muscle structure of those ninjas with more physical leanings, his body had lost much of the softness it had as a girl. Curiosity coming to the forefront, Kagerou brought both hands up to his neck to explore his new body, paying no heed to whoever was to interrupt. His hands arced up to cover his ears. He accepted his change in gender easily, having already that it was best taken in flow rather than resistance. Rounding her ears, Kagerou's fingers traced his cheek bones and connected at the nose before splitting again to circle his eyes. He wasn't just measuring the change in his face but also the growth of her hands. As much as this time was a moment to familiarize with his unfamiliar face and experiment on himself to find spots that felt nice to be touched in, this was also a time to get used to his new hands. He took this time to familiarize with the increased reach of her fingers and even his arms when he leaned back and stretched his hands towards the mirror. He took however many steps he needed to fully stretch out his arms between the mirror and her body. Then he returned the arms back to his neck. This time, instead of exploring the front, his fingers intertwined through his hair.

Why had Kagerou bothered exploring his face when he wanted nothing more than to see Shadow? Why, it was because he knew that appearance could be important. He wanted to look good when he met Shadow and he needed to know what looked best with his face. One of Kagerou's hands twisted his hair into on bunch as he thought, Kagerou, without a single scrap of clothing left the bathroom to pick up a kunai from his pants. He brought it the whole thing back, patting his face and body dry with the pair of jeans. The jeans were placed atop the sink once Kagerou felt mostly dry. Back in front of the mirror, one hand deftly pulled a kunai out of the familiar pouches. With a clean, practiced motion, Kagerou cut off her long locks without a thought. Without concern for cleanup, Kagerou let the loose strands pile on the bathroom floor. It was a rough cut but with a touch of the knife here and there she turned it into an acceptable, intentionally messy look. Liking the image of her male self with shorter hair, Kagerou gave the mirror a wide smile. He only hoped Shadow would like it. Then he spotted a stray hair and the smile dropped. It looked like it was unavoidable, Kagerou would need to ask his mom to cut his hair for him while he begged his dad to do the little favor of looking for Shadow's chakra signature. Kagerou admitted to himself with a defeated smirk. Shadow and the Mizukage seemed close. Certainly, a sensor of Kirigakure would know his chakra signature. It was worth a shot, and a better option than heading straight to the Crafting Collective, which Kagerou suspected Shadow had gone to, only to learn that Shadow had actually gone elsewhere.

He pocketed the kunai and traced a finger over her torn lip. It had actually gotten worse. Kagerou had bitten it during the previous deed. The blood he tasted when he ran his tongue along it brought back the recent memories. Regardless, he'd need to fix the lip. With a ring of the bells on his wrist, Kagerou cast a basic healing technique to clear away the wound. "Hmmm," he hummed to himself, deciding that any other improvements would need proper tools and other assistance. He just needed to dress now.

Reaching over to the toilet, where the shoulder bag had been placed before the floor got thoroughly wet, Kagerou retrieved the shoulder bag that contained Takeda's clothes. He raided through it. Barring the scarf, which Kagerou sort of just pushed to the side, Takeda had, surprisingly, very similar clothes to what Kagerou normally wore. Of course, though, these were the larger male version. Kagerou tossed them onto her body. They fit comfortably, and that was really the only thing Kagerou cared for in regards to clothes. It was kind of like how he wanted to cut his hair but didn't really think he needed something super cool, or maybe he just didn't have the time for that. In fact, Kagerou was so unconcerned that she skipped the undershirt and only zipped up the sweater he wore underneath his hoodie part way. He was a guy, for crying out loud. It was no longer a crime to reveal her chest. As a finishing touch, Kagerou readjusted and pulled on her standard equipment pouches. Chest, arms, and leg were all fully clothed, in a way. All Kagerou didn't have were shoes, and because he didn't have shoes, he didn't bother ruining a perfectly good pair of socks by walking around in them.

Comfortably clothed, Kagerou left the bathroom with clothes, bag, scarf and all. The scarf and shoulder bag were put neatly on Takeda's bedside table. The scarf was folded neatly atop the bag and the map Kagerou needed Takeda to fill out lay just as neatly atop the scarf. As for Kagerou's clothes, he carried them in one arm for now, pulling his backpack to one shoulder with the other arm.

Just after walking out of Takeda's room, Kagerou noticed something rolling on the floor: a jar of some sort of sample. He also picked this up, scrutinized it, . Seeing as the Aburame girl, who was now gone, hadn't pounced on him immediately despite her apparent sex drive, it was possible she had originally come for another purpose. Kagerou shrugged, and also took the sample with him. [7/10]

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Kagerou's smile faltered as Shadow pulled away. He had feared this. Shadow did not feel for him the way he felt for her. Of course, Kagerou knew his love was likely fake, a creation of the forces that left him unable to stop even when he knew it was wrong. However, that did not make the rejection hurt any less when Shadow moved away from him like he was some sort of suspicious freak.

"No," Kagerou whispered, as if in pain, as Shadow's hand slipped out of his, . Tears leaked from his devastated eyes. A sniffle escaped his crumpling face. Looking into Shadow's eyes seemed to physically hurt Kagerou but he couldn't tear his eyes from those beautiful orbs either. However, the unstoppable desires that filled his head weren't how to bring Shadow to love him. No, the first thoughts were how to wipe away the myriad of negative emotions, shown clear as day, from Shadow's beautiful face.

"Ah, I'm sorry," Kagerou immediately apologized, hastily stopping his crying and wiping away what little had already dropped before he drew his hands towards his chest and stomach, where they clutched his jacket and sweater tightly, "Please… Please, I don't want you to… I'll try my best to not worry you again." There was a weak, not very convincing smile on Kagerou's face as he gave one last, longing look at Shadow before turning his eyes to the side. He wasn't going to pull out some stupid excuse like how Shadow hadn't specified or anything. Stepping back was a clear enough sign that Shadow didn't like what Kagerou did just then. It could have been Kagerou's touch or gaze. He wasn't sure, and until he was sure that neither would hurt Shadow, he didn't feel like doing either anymore. No, actually, that was a lie. He very much wanted both, but not at the expense of Shadow's feelings. Just in case his urges ever reared their ugly heads again, though, Kagerou had his hands hold tightly to his hoodie and sweater.

An apology had been the first thing to pop into Kagerou's head. However, Shadow had asked him a question, and of course, Kagerou could not deny his love. "I love you," came the blunt confession, the words Kagerou had held inside for long. Although, would it really come as a surprise after his proposal? His eyes, even though they looked only at the random restaurant Shadow had chosen, shined as Kagerou spoke. One could only imagine how brightly they would have shone if he had been actually looking at Shadow. He couldn't stop himself from continuing the line of thought and his smile just kept on growing stronger and stronger the more he got off his chest, "I love you. I love your hair, your ears, the blue of your eyes, and how they shine through your unkempt bangs and those adorable streaks of fur. I love the way you're shy, even though I want to hear more from you. I think your mechanical arm, with its glow that can just barely be seen through the crack when it's looked at hard enough, is beautiful. I can't help but be hypnotized by your tail as it flicks to and fro behind you. Your hands, they look a little dirty? Were you working on something? How admirable. May I help you with whatever you were working on? Or just watch you? Then there's when I think about you and that's… well… ahh… You know, I also worry. You were just hospitalized, fully unconscious of all things. Have you felt anything strange? Light-headed or even a headache, maybe? Have you had a proper rest at all? You have such deep shadows under your eyes, which I worry over as much as I love them. How are you handling your memory loss? You haven't been lost, have you? I'm so sorry you had to be alone all this time. Here, let me…" Kagerou stopped speaking when Shadow suddenly appeared in his field of vision. as his mind belatedly registered that, during his impassioned and cheesy confession, he had turned his head despite making the resolve to not do that. What was worse, a hand was already beginning to reach up to Shadow's face. "Let me…," was what he wanted to say, but those thoughts never left his mouth. He couldn't do it, not when it was possible that Shadow didn't want to be touched. Hoping that nothing he had done made Shadow feel threatened, Kagerou hastily dropped his hand along with the one knee that he had raised, having never dropped it after his proposal. A little forcefully, he stuffed both of his hands into the pockets of his hoodie. He looked away again. His foolish, radiant smile weakened into a faint, wistful smile. Kagerou hated how his resolve had broken so easily, but seeing Shadow was like a breath of fresh air after hours breathing in clouds of smoke. He couldn't not smile after seeing her.

Assuming Shadow was still around after that embarrassing scene, Kagerou was ready to give an actual answer. "I love you," Kagerou confessed again, but this time, he actually explained the symptoms that he had just shown, "There's no rhyme or reason to it. I can't stop loving you, and on top of that, I can't stop myself from doing what I want to do, which just recently became something else on top of cherishing you for life. It's… the second one is even scarier than finding love for no reason, so I've been keeping it in check by just focusing on love. I hope you don't mind. Mostly, what I do, I do without thinking, and even when I can think, my body just ignores my head. That's why I proposed to you just now. It's… I think it's caused by the same thing that changed our bodies."

Just that would have been enough of an explanation. However, Kagerou didn't realize that, just like he didn't realize that his sentences came out jumbled and overall unpolished. He just kept on talking, trying to not only explain everything to Shadow but also make a case for her to not throw him away, "I'm… Like this, I'm probably a little dangerous. Some of the others at the hospital were starting a fight, so there's precedent. Still, never to you. I'd never be dangerous to you. I think I'd rather die than see you hurt. That's why I was hoping that maybe… maybe you could let me stay with you? Please, I know this is selfish of me to ask you, but that's all I want. To be with you and to help you. I wasn't lying when I said that I'd do anything for you… I suck at lying anyways."

There was more Kagerou wanted to say. However, this time, he did stop. He had lost his ability to deny what he wanted, but even desires could have an order to things. Right now, he wanted to hear Shadow's reply, so that meant he needed to stop talking.

He waited with a confusing expression. Kagerou's smile certainly looked happy and content with what little he had even now. However, his whole body, including said smile, trembled, shaking in both fear of Shadow's possible rejection and anticipation of Shadow's possible acceptance. The bells on Kagerou's wrist shimmered with sound, shivering with Kagerou's body. Besides the shaking and other basic functions like breathing and blinking, though, Kagerou's body didn't move an inch. He seemed determined to stay in this pose, eyes averted from Shadow and hands kept to himself so long as Shadow looked like she was uncomfortable with either. Kagerou wouldn’t have wanted to make his emotions this obvious, but it didn't look like he really had a say in even this trivial matter. [12/15]

Kagerou sure had taken her sweet time going up the Sero. In much need of some peace and quiet, she had foregone taking the elevator at first in favor of simply walking up the Sero. It was like when she had gone to the office just yesterday. Just yesterday, she had been assigned her new squad, of which half was now dead. Just yesterday Shadow was still alive and Jack had looked like he was going to lead Kirigakure for a long, long time, regardless of what the public thought of him. Just yesterday… and today was like the day after the village's destruction of the Sero, when Kagerou lost so many people she knew and loved. Kagerou gave the tree that caused so much grief an unfocused look and placed a hand upon its firm surface. In six months' time, it had turned from monster to the pillar of the village, a central hub that would be devastating to replace. she thought, uncertain if the idea gave her hope or guilt for having such a nihilistic view on the world. Probably both, which still made her feel bad.

It was a given that if Kagerou's hand was on the tree then it would be brushing against it with every step she took. Unlike the last time she walked with her hand against the tree, though, she wasn't paying attention. It didn't take long for Kagerou suddenly wince in pain, but she wasn't even paying enough attention to bother pausing her steps. She just kept on walking. However, her hand was at least quick to come off the tree. To survey the damage, Kagerou turned her palm towards her. It was a splinter, the consequence of her absentminded movements. Being small, not even large enough to draw any blood, Kagerou easily picked out the proof of her distracted thoughts. Something like a splinter… Just yesterday she ran her hand alongside the tree just fine without getting hurt. This was also her fault.

Seeing the dead. Heck, technically even fighting the dead. Kagerou had experienced both. There was a time when she had nightmares of them on a daily basis, but that phase had passed quickly. However, she was not such a hardened veteran that she could take either in stride. She still dreamed of the dead when the day's events reminded her of the terrors, like yesterday. Apparently, like right now as she fumbled through sorrow and guilt, she'd see visions of them even while awake: faces of both living terror and dead blankness being washed away by floodwaters that left Kagerou powerless, bloody sheets draped over inert bodies, animated dead cloaked in wooden armors, the myriad of makeshift wooden headstones that were initially used to memorialize the unrecovered bodies of friends and neighbors before a proper memorial was erected months later. Jack and Shadow, if it was just a death count, were just one of many.

However, it was more than just a death count. The fresh death hurt Kagerou just like all those previous. The only tool she had gained since then was that she didn't have to wrack her mind over how to overcome this grief. She knew all she needed was time and thought, both of which she was getting right now as she walked up the Sero. She was also certain that splashing around uselessly in this sad puddle wasn't going to get her anywhere. In truth, she should have been ready to return to society and take an elevator by now if the only problem was having seen yet two others die.

The fact of the matter, though, was that in these past six months, Kagerou had conveniently forgotten the feeling of helplessness that she felt when she bustled around in the medical tents, finding plenty of jobs but not being able to tend to those who really needed it because of her lack of skills. She wouldn't needlessly berate herself by going so far as to say she had been nothing more than dead weight. That was far from truth. She had busied herself as much as possible in helping with the village's reconstruction, and it had given her passing familiarity with a myriad of skills. However, that was all time that could have spent on fixing the helplessness she knew she had. was the thought that trapped Kagerou in an endless cycle of brooding, It was worse that the something didn't have to be large. Even just having learned one technique that could have pulled Shadow out of there would have meant something. How long did learning a technique take? A few hours at most? A few hours more of training and Kagerou could have saved one life. The feeling left her so conflicted. On one side, there was no way she could have known so this regret was no different from hoping that the dead would come to life. On the other side, how could she not regret being unprepared to save a life when that was the very path she chose to take? She had even endured the scathing comments of her grandparents when she had to repeat a little under a year's worth of classes at the academy because she had decided half a year before graduating that she wanted to be a medic instead of a fighter.

She stopped in her tracks. This was her first time stopping. While she may have been stalling for time by not taking the elevator, her steps had been steady in their upwards march. The same could not be said for the beat rung out of her bells, though. The ringing had been shaky and unbalanced, their beat interrupted frequently by little fidgets of the wrist caused by Kagerou's stressful thoughts. The belled hand lifted from the precious tome it was supporting with the other hand and rubbed Kagerou's temple. she tried to get over it with reason, but in the end, all she accomplished was letting her body fall into a lean against the trunk of the Sero. The back of her head pressed against the firmly soft bark, Kagerou let out a deep breath.

<'If I was too scared to even protect the Mizukage and my squad mate, then who am I to claim that I can stand up for strangers? Or even complete enemies?'>

It was a thought Kagerou had back at the cliff, a flash of reality that she didn't want to deal with at the moment because of all the other ambient stress. she grimaced at her weakness, and more importantly at her inability to find a solution to fix it. There was a sort of desperate scoff, a short laugh, as she reiterated her thoughts with a forced smile, "I have to accept this." The hand rubbing her temples lowered and started shaking to a steady beat. The ringing was clouded at first, but it soon took on a crisper, clearer tone as the shakes of Kagerou's wrist became calmer, more consistent, and more confident.

How lucky she was to be able to so easily accept that she had been a coward. No, more than that. To easily accept that because she had been brave at other times, it was just a cowardly moment, and that it was okay to have those moments. She still would rather not have such moments. She still didn't know how to fix the problem. However, she could accept that, too. She was still young. She could still grow. Looking at it a little negatively, she was allowed to procrastinate. It was unrealistic to think that just having to face something two or three times would give her all the answers to handling it. She was… sure that the Mizukage and Shadow would want her to develop from this incident without getting stuck in it.

Kagerou figured, and just at that moment, there was the familiar, "Ding!" that alerted those nearby that an elevator car was about to open. Kagerou peered around the corner that she just realized she had stopped at to see people coming out of an elevator that she did not know was there. she thought, her mouth stretched into a flat line and eyes wide in a, "oops," sort of manner. A smile, a real one, was quick to follow when she saw that the elevator was going up, "But lucky me, I guess."

Kagerou turned the corner and slipped into the elevator. The doors began to close, and just before they completely shut, a small songbird zoomed in at the last moment. There was a small commotion because of the sudden flitting around of an avian in the crowded compartment of an elevator. Thankfully, there weren't many passengers, giving the bird plenty of room to swoop down onto Kagerou's shoulder, the intended recipient of the small message tied on its foot. The disturbance died down as Kagerou untied the short message from the bird's tiny leg, and as she unrolled it, the elevator stopped at the next floor. The doors opened, and the bird was gone with one of the other passengers.

The message was short.

"Come."

The handwriting was familiar.

on Kagerou's mother's side.

When Jack had failed to specify a time, Kagerou had left it open to interpretation because she did not know him well. The same could not be said for her grandmother. With a short, curt message like this, the intent was for Kagerou to act on it as soon as possible.

Kagerou noted even though she knew from the beginning that she would not be able to heed the summons asap. The tome she still held in her arms and the meeting with the newly appointed Mizukage came first. With one hand, Kagerou neatly folded the note and pocketed it in a projectile pouch.

The rest of the trip was peaceful. Kagerou stood in some random spot on the elevator and thought about what she would say when she met Inka. How would she greet him? Should the message be delivered word-for-word? Should she consider saying anything slightly differently in case Inka would take the news hard? What was the proper way of speaking? Was she planning too hard?
Should she just wing it and have it come out naturally? Ahhhh, but deciding to do that can't really be considered winging it.

The trip to the top floor of the Sero passed in a flash amidst various thoughts once Kagerou boarded an elevator. People she did not know, and some she did, bustled back and fro. It wasn't enough to call it panic, but there certainly was a certain level of tension in the air. Kagerou stood out, in her formal kimono of black and white. However, neither this nor the large book she held was enough to attract any attention to her greater than the momentary glance given to something that did not quite fit in. That was just the kind of atmosphere occupied the space around and in the Mizukage's office, where not too long ago a village-wide screech had originated from.

As a final precaution, Kagerou hastily but gently dabbed her face with the sleeve of her belled hand and tried to make sure that her short hair was presentable as best as she could without the assistance of a mirror. She didn't wear make-up and she didn't cry a lot either, but she just wanted to make as sure as possible that there were no tear stains remaining on her face, especially since she didn't wash her face on her way up. she worried. Although, she didn't really need to. Her eyes held only the faintest signs of the few tears they had shed.

In this crowd, Kagerou could try to find Inka herself by analyzing the movements and gazes of the others to locate the center of activity or she could just go and ask the secretary. Obviously, Kagerou went to ask the secretary, her approach heralded by the occasional, "Excuse me," a short greeting or two, and the ringing of the bells on her wrist. In a bit of a rare sight, she pushed past those who had been waiting for the secretary's attention before she came in, essentially cutting the line. "Ms. Thanderveldt," Kagerou consciously kept her message short, using words she had prepared on her way up the Sero, "I have a tome and message for Inka-sama from Jack-" "-sama," with only one minor edit. The aforementioned book was held tightly to Kagerou's chest, where it could be easily seen.

Kagerou was immediately reminded of the Halloween nightmare when she saw Kumotake's blood shot eyes through the crack. Even as this mostly harmless thought crossed her mind, though, her nose had picked up on a not so harmless scent. Human blood. There was no way she was going to mistake that scent. She had smelled enough of it in the medical wards of the Sero crisis and when she saw Miki lying on the table in the kage's office. Scent alone convinced Kagerou to jam her foot into the crack of the door, and as she did so, her eyes, which had looked down to make sure her foot did not miss its target, saw the seeping blood. The medic nin's eyes grew wide and did not move from the slowly growing trail of blood as her mind pieced together the clues. Her foot kept the door open, and unless Kumotake slammed the door hard enough to break her foot, she wouldn't feel anything through the thick skin of shock and disbelief that covered her mind.

Kagerou held back the desire to bust the door open.

Kagerou held her tongue and the various things it wanted to say, most of it mean but also well-meaning.

Kagerou focused on the simple things, the little details to the actions she needed to take.

Kagerou's hands, originally shaking, calmed the tremors, and with a steady touch, she carefully opened the door. The force behind them, Kumotake's waning strength, easily gave way to her firm push. The face she presented when she surveyed the damage Kumotake had done to his own body was expressionless.

"This wasn't what I meant," she murmured as she knelt beside Kumotake, closing the door after she entered and turning on the lights if they weren't already on. The mess of blood that had already spilled made it hard to see the real damage, the damage that Kumotake had inflicted upon himself with a sharp tool of some sort. Although, the shape of the cuts were very much visible. Without the time to gather various supplies to help her conserve chakra, like alcohol and cotton balls to clean the wound, Kagerou began with Kiyomaru [Cleanse] to sanitize her hands and the wounds. The jutsu also cleaned a minute amount of the blood. Then followed Shindan [Diagnosis] to diagnose the depth of severity of each injury. What she discovered, caused a muscle in her cheek to tense for a moment before relaxing into a state of neutrality. The cuts were so deep that she was going to need to use the Major Healing Hands technique, and she did, closing even the deepest of Kumotake's wounds with the eiseijutsu.

There was a rhythm to Kagerou's work throughout: hand signs, execution, results, repeat. Not a word was spoken that wasn't needed, and her emotionless face did not change. That is, until she was finished with tending to Kumotake. Once she finished, she looked Kumotake straight in the eye, remembering the meaning behind the faces he showed her when she barged in against his will, . She didn't even know where to start putting herself into Kumotake's shoes, but she did try. In the end, when she made eye contact with Kumotake, she was no more wiser to why he would hurt and damage himself except for the reason he gave, that it was to help someone, namely herself and the Yamanaka she had befriended on the spot. Kagerou's mouth trembled, trying to smile and give Kumotake some comfort, but there was no way Kagerou could force a smile in this kind of situation.

"I'm going to say what I'm thinking," Kagerou announced the best idea she could come up with, "Then you tell me what you're thinking," which was basically a roundabout way of saying, "Explain yourself and your nonsensical actions in a way I can understand." She paused, giving the illusion that Kumotake had a choice. Except, he didn't. Regardless of what he said, Kagerou went on, "First, call your bugs back. What were you thinking, restraining Sukoso like that? I know that there's a lot that Sukoso doesn't really understand, but the concept of remaining healthy isn't exactly complicated. Don't you think- No… I'll stop there…" For a moment there, Kagerou's anger got the better of her, anger at Kumotake for hurting himself. The pitch, speed, and volume had gradually risen with her heightened emotions only to disappear with the first utterance of "No" that signaled her return to calm. "Second," she was done with the previous matter, but that didn't mean she had said everything she wanted, "All the help I needed from you was for you to come to the hospital and learn. You didn't need to know eiseijutsu or have any previous experience. Everyone has to start somewhere, and a good part of the hospital staff actually doesn’t have the ability to use chakra, much less eiseijutsu. Last of all,... why? Why did you hurt yourself? I... can't understand no matter how I try but I want to help." There, now she was done speaking, and one hand motioned towards Kumotake in a sort of "your turn" gesture. [8/20 cockroach armor]

At one point during Kumotake's answers, Kagerou stood up from the bloody floor. The armor she had accidentally donned conveniently shielded her clothes and skin from the risk of any blood stains, and the smooth surface of the carapace did well in letting the blood drip off without a trace. Her face looked grim with her lips pressed together tightly and eyes whirring through a myriad of confused emotions as she tried to sort through the answers given and the laughter… Was that laughter she had heard? Why the hell would he be laughing in this sort of situation?

Speechless wouldn’t quite describe what Kagerou felt right this moment. However, it was certainly a good way of putting her reaction. There was so much wrong with what she had just heard. Her gut told her it was wrong. Her mind told her it was wrong. Still, she did not know where she was supposed to start her response. All she knew was that when Kumotake turned to her with a bright, peaceful smile, Kagerou honest to gods and spirits felt like slapping him. She was that angry, but she didn't hit him. She held back and simply stared straight into his smile with her straight-lipped look.

There was no way Kagerou could simply accept that last sentence Kumotake uttered, but there were so many other problems, that necessity dictated that she try to tackle the biggest and most obvious first. In this case, Kumotake's apparent need for self-harm. it was a sign of her respect for the late Mizukage that Kagerou thought of him in a time like this when she was struggling to find a "right answer." She tried to see Kumotake's actions in the aforementioned light, judging it in a way she thought unbiased. However, she just couldn't bring herself to accept what Kumotake did to himself. It didn't matter what he said or what reasons he gave. No amount of convincing, even from herself, was going to let Kagerou be just okay with this kind of self-mutilation.

Kagerou knew before speaking that she would not be able to fully hide the outrage and, shamefully enough, disgust she felt. What was more, it was obvious from the way Kumotake spoke that he was already so entrenched in his way of thinking, that words were likely to do nothing to dent what he believed was right. As she was in no shape to talk it out and he didn't look receptive to change, Kagerou limited to the one thing she could confidently speak on.

Perhaps Kumotake was referring to something else in his past, but if it was something about the strong dying, then the first thing Kagerou thought of was the most recent: the death of Jack and Shadow, Kirigakure's two strongest. That was why what she said next was specifically about those two, even though no specific mention was made of them, "It is up to you what you decide to use your strength on, but… you know… Jack-sama died to protect the village, weak and strong alike. Shadow… Shadow died because there was no one with the strength to save him, but I believe that the weak can one day become the strong, and when that day comes for me, I intend to use my strength like the late Mizukage, to protect." If the hurtful things Kumotake ended with were just his way of grieving for Jack and Shadow, then this was familiar territory for the girl who waited at the sides of numerous others in the wake of the Sero's destruction, waiting for them to move on from the tragedy and return to some semblance of normalcy.

However, that was where the similarities ended because the one Kagerou spoke to now wasn't just some civilian. The one she spoke to was a shinobi, much like her. Eyes earnestly locking onto Kumotake's but turning neither hot nor cold, Kagerou finished, "I'm… in no position to talk, but this is something my parents always drilled into me. Fear of death is good. Never undervalue or life or its worth. Fight for it with tooth and claw, but always understand that death is never far away, and for people like us, it's even closer than most. If you don't like that the people you know are always teetering at that brink and that some will be lost to it much sooner that you would have liked, then you have two options: do something about it or quit and become one of the protected rather than the protectors." It was an ultimatum Kagerou had heard ever since she was young. She was sure Kumotake had also heard something similar. More than anything, what she had just said was intended to be a reminder. At least, she hoped it was a reminder. It would be too pitiful if Kumotake had chosen this particular occupation without knowing the intimate relationship it had with death.

After letting the words hang in the air for a little, Kagerou held out a hand for Kumotake to take so she could help pull him up. "You're probably tired of hearing this already," the green-haired medic moved on even though she was still unable to smile, "but if you want to do something, then I suggest learning some basic medical procedures as a good start. Any registered Kirigakure ninja can learn and get certified at the hospital if they take the missions there. Don't worry, there's plenty of work to go around." [10/20 cockroach armor]

User ImageMiyuki was about to get that response of "you don't owe us anything" and an added assurance that it was okay to be against physical contact when that time of the year happened again.

With a primal beat, the Sero pulsated, lines of white beat like the veins to a heart as they ran up along the side of the giant tree. Kagerou asserted, Kagerou truly believed even if she did have to convince herself a little bit. There was no way that the Mizukage, while different, would dare to make the same mistake after everything the village had been through the last time. She looked up the tree and then down it, to the roots that branched out to her on either side. She was so close to the base that she could see that the white veins were actually inscriptions, closely linked and intertwined with each other. What they meant or even their contradictory connections, she had not a clue. It was something powerful, though. That was what each beat, each vibration that surged straight through her, told Kagerou.

And with each passing moment, the light grew brighter, or maybe it was just the sky growing darker as the Sero's canopy covered even more of the sky above the mists. Her eyes tracing back to the top as the sun dimmed and her mind wondered why, Kagerou saw the ever growing spread as the branches seemed to reach the very ends of the village. No, she was sure they had. Before her very eyes, like in some sort of accelerated time lapse, pods grew from the branches, from minuscule specks to dots that were deceptively small, shrunk by the great height of the tree. The earliest to grow were not the earliest to fall, but Kagerou was sure that all would fall in due time. She was already seeing some of the dots rain down, and then the splash or thud as they reached their destination on the ground.

she predicted and raised her eyes to right above her. As if sensing her gaze, a pod dislodged. It wasn't apparent at first, but as the speck grew bigger and it became more apparent that it was dropping at an impossibly straight angle, at that height, the winds would have buffeted it off course at some point, Kagerou knew. This was her pod. Something about it just didn't seem like a coincidence, though she didn't dare trust such a self-centered assumption. There were many others in the vicinity of the pod's landing. Kageoru wasn't the only one to remain calmly standing as the seed dropped. The eyes of strangers and companions alike were trained upon Kagerou's pod and the other two that fell with it. The sheer impact of the dive drove the delivery into the ground, digging the pod into its own little stand to remain upright. Kagerou's hands had already found a kunai for self defense, and her bells had been adorning her wrist since before. She braced herself for another wooden monstrosity, a rotting corpse fermenting inside a doll of cursed bark. Her mouth held tight in a grimace with fear and dread for that all too human shriek of pain and suffering, freshly renewed in her mind after months of dulling into just another part of her past, but she had endured it before, she could live through it again. She should be and was more worried for Miyuki and Takeda, who's pods had also landed shortly before and/or after hers. She could see them in her peripherals and hear them with her ears.

The Sero, despite its past, had always been a sight of wonder to Kagerou. She had embraced and genuinely enjoyed living within the living tree. That was why, when the pod bloomed, even though she expected the worst out of it, she could also appreciate the wonder of nature it was. Albeit, one largely powered by chakra and no doubt nightmare fuel of some sort. She examined the sounds emitted by the pod with scientific interest, and as the tip started to delicately unfurl in nature's reveal of what it held within, she thought it beautiful. Beautiful, that is, until the pod stopped "blooming" and began something more like "peeling," peeling away and revealing its underside of sickly green, like gangrenous flesh. What seemed like congealed pus, but green in flower so even worse in its abnormality, seeped out of the opening flower.

A perfect example of the saying, "Beauty was only skin deep."

And from the ghastly innards, a familiar figure appeared, one who Kagerou had only recently mentally noted as beautiful. However, this one was different. It wasn't just his eyes, one now the color of ensnaring honey and the other the color of a wound just beginning to heal yet threatening to begin bleeding again with the slightest provocation.

To her side(s), Kagerou could see that something similar had appeared from Takeda's and Miyuki's floral cocoons.

Anticipation bloated the air around the three mystery pods. Multiple eyes were glued to the Inkas clothed in black, all looking to the kage for... who knew what. Perhaps some were even considering, like Kagerou, that this was some Sero-based method of relaying remote instructions. The Sero was intended for a village defense system, after all. With the rest of the crowd, Kagerou listened attentively to all three Inkas.

It quickly became apparent that Kagerou and others who thought like her were too hopeful. Apparently, he hadn't been looking for anyone in the vicinity, Kagerou could feel his gaze drilling straight into hers. The pod was meant for her. The pod and everything that the Inka within it had to say, and what a mess what those words happened to be.

Up to a certain point, Kagerou could endure the improperly placed lecture and all of its not so subtle insults and digs at her way of doing things. She had prepared for something along these lines, after all. She knew well and clear that she had taken a risk at being seen as insubordinate in that last meeting with the Mizukage, driven by the familiar atmosphere that Nozomi brought to the room. Of course, that wasn't an excuse or anything. Aside from the kunai held in one hand and the eyes that warily tracked Inka, Kagerou stood as the model of a shinobi being disciplined by their superior: a straight, stoic, and unblinking expression that faced forward at attention. Whatever this was, she wasn't sure, so she was going to wing it, this time, by playing it safe.

Clearly, something was off about this situation. She could feel the thoughts already arranging in the back of her mind as Inka drove her self esteem down into the ground, shifting from disciplining her for her lack of respect and stepping out of line into outright mocking her for her worry and her care. She... She was sure she hadn't meant any of that. No, she was certain of that and she was sure that she hadn't done anything to imply that she felt herself superior at all. It didn't make sense.

Then, from behind Kagerou, where her eyes couldn't follow so her ears strained for the slightest detail, Inka spit out words that stung. Kagerou, already tense from the disciplining, regardless of how much she doubted it or how much she was mentally prepared for it, involuntarily flinched at the sharp words. Her eyes closed tight, a fist clenched at the bottom of her top, and her head and shoulders squeezed tight. She involuntarily held that pose for a few seconds while she recollected herself before realizing what her body had done. With a shuddering breath, she straightened herself and tried to regain composure after she had slipped.

This wasn't right. Kagerou was sure now even as her Inka kept on talking and nailing certain points head on. Not just why what she had done was wrong, but also the very last thing she wanted to be taken from any of her interactions with the Mizukage. It was all too difficult to listen to, but Kagerou saw with unclouded judgement that none of this was something appropriate to say outside of the office. If this was all true, then Inka had hidden it even in front of an audience of only one other, hid it all with a pretty smile. An outburst was just fishy. Shedding the former discipline from before, Kagerou freely observed her Inka and the other two.

None of the Inkas had been particularly trying to hide what they said, and Kagerou had been paying some attention to the other two on top of hers. Of course, she couldn't catch all the details of either. Miyuki's was short. She was given some hurtful names but quickly left alone. Takeda's held regret, very different from Miyuki's flippant Inka and Kagerou's harsh one. Takeda's apologized and sympathized. the thought had entered Kagerou's mind when she straightened back up with that shuddering breath, but she had not heard enough to reach such a conclusion. It was, in fact, something that Takeda's Inka said that truly set Kagerou's resolve. The truth would be uncertain, but the Mizuki's life must in no way be left with any doubt. Of course, that didn't mean Kagerou could just recklessly charge.

As Kagerou thought, already the gears and cogs of the village around her had begun turning. Takeda was echoing a lot of Kagerou's thoughts, and supporting some of the theories bouncing in her head. Those others that were not any of the three addressed had the good manners to not interrupt and had started moving into action to deal with the village's newest crisis in their own ways. Though, there were the usual whispers. There always were.

"A fake... A dark...?" a few mutters solidified Kagerou's finishing thoughts, .

She glanced over at Miyuki to make sure she was alright, breaking that observant stare that had been directed at all three Inkas.

Kagerou returned her invasive gaze to the triplet stars of the show after ascertaining Miyuki was alright. They intrigued her, alright, but anything she said was going to be taken as an upstart genin reaching too far ahead. If that was the case, it was better to have, apparently, literally anyone speak to Inka. Case in point, Takeda seemed to be doing just fine.

First of all, you know what? Kagerou wasn't going to be spiteful and mule headed. Rude Inka was right that it was important to recognize when something extended beyond her abilities. Also, from the tidbits Kagerou captured, it sounded like the safest place for Miyuki to be was away from the Sero. "Miyuki," a flick of Kagerou's hand procured a chocolate that looked exactly like a roach, "I'd like to call in that favor now." She tossed the trick-or-treat in Miyuki's direction along with her own headband, taken directly from her arm. Hopefully the younger girl would catch it all. Instructions that would hopefully be followed were given, "When you're in danger, eating that chocolate can give you armor. Check in on the hospital, and if they're not sending any medical aid to the Sero, then convince some medics to come. I don't know how much you can gather by just asking if they're not already sending some, but try, please. If the tree is popping out Inkas, then he's probably holed up inside it, probably in his office. Use the headband as your own." It wasn't said outright that Miyuki should lie about being inducted as a ninja by using Kagerou's headband but... it was implied. Whatever helped people to trust her words. She had no idea what state Inka must have been in if he was locked within the Sero itself, which seemed to be denying all forms of entry.

This next part was going to be harder because, by all means, the roles should be reversed. However, it was like Kagerou had already conceded. Her saying anything in a timely manner was going to be taken the wrong way. If she could avoid it, though she somehow doubted it, then she would avoid words just this once. "Takeda, I'm going straight to the Sero. We can save Inka-sama's counseling sessions for later. I need you to get some information. Fakes or not, these Inka-lones are searching for someone. 'Who' isn't important, and 'why' only marginally so. Find out 'what' they need, and before it's too late. 'How,' as well, if that's needed," she said and stared at him hard. There was no smile as she conveyed she was serious about this and had given it some serious thought. Well, that and she was in no mood to smile. Some of what had been said and what this split of Inka implied hit a little bit too close to home for Kagerou to just smile all relaxed.

Still, hated or not, Kagerou had no qualms with risking looking like she was pretentious if that's what prioritizing to check in on the Mizukage's condition was interpreted as. This was something she decided on literally just now.

User ImageTakeda and Kagerou weren't going to come to an agreement. At least, not so easily. It was a given that what they talked about wasn't going to be wrapped up nicely in a short discussion amidst an emergency. Kagerou would listen to whatever Takeda had to say, but at the end of it, she gave up her chance to give a reply to instead insist, once again, that Takeda give her his shard so she could head to the Sero ahead of him while he watched out for Miyuki. Depending on how bad the timing was, her misgivings about moving on from the topic would be heard in her voice, but she and he both had an obligation to protect the village, not chit chat philosophically. Takeda, for whatever his reasons were, would give Kagerou his shard, and with that, Kagerou would give him a quick thanks and a promise to continue the talk with him soon before turning and dashing to the giant tree.

It was as Kagerou headed to the tree that the shards began to... speak(?) to her? Not quite in words, but with a pull, a draw to the very tree that she already intended on running into. Kagerou's mind swiftly processed, but she didn't slow down. Almost as quickly as she felt the pull, she started to hear the... things.

There was a thud behind Kagerou and she turned, wary of a monster or victim. There was nothing. Then a thud came from her front while she looked to the back. Again, Kagerou's head swiveled to the mysterious sound, staring into the gaping entrance to the inside of the Sero. Again, nothing. By now, Kagerou had slowed to a stop. She could hear thuds all around her, echoing in the silence. The sound of something hitting the water, but where she could see the water, there wasn't even a ripple. It was just a sound, but how? How did she know from the sound that what had fallen was small, helpless, and unable to even swim? Who was it that whispered to her that the child that did not exist ceased to exist, enveloped in the dark waters?

Kagerou allowed herself to feel spooked for maybe half a minute before she clenched her first and turned away from the mystery. All she had gained was a sense of foreboding. It could very well have been that what she had heard was only meant to bewilder her, and if so, then it had done a great job. Kagerou feared that, more than just bewilder, it was a warning or perhaps a sign from the past. The latter only felt more true as Kagerou ran forwards. Yes, she was running forwards to help the Mizukage. There was no falsehood about that, yet why did she feel like she was running away? Why did a voice accuse her of never going back for the girl that didn't exist? This was... truly an intricate genjutsu, right?

User ImageEnter from [木] SERO | Entrance || Mission Board

The sounds of a body dropping into water became further and further away as Kagerou ascended until, eventually, she couldn't hear it at all. It had stayed with her for such a long time, though, aided by the silence of the rest of Kagerou's small slice of life and the unease Kagerou's intuition attributed to the sound. Even after she stopped hearing the sound, Kagerou found herself looking outside of the Sero every now and then, wondering if maybe there was an invisible body falling past her right now, a body that would leave not even a ripple on the surface of the water it fell into. The water she drowned in. Of course, each of these moments of apprehension were quickly ended with a shake of her head as Kagerou continued to pace herself up the Sero.

The elevators of the giant tree were out of order, of course, so Kagerou worked the grueling climb up the stairs. She must have missed everyone else that came up, which was no surprise because she took possibly the least efficient route ever. No one was going to say that Kagerou checked every single nook and cranny of the Sero, but she almost did. If it hadn't been for the pull on the three shards she held, Kagerou would have spent even more time sending out messenger birds to those still awake, but if her shards were reacting this way, then she was sure the others would know what to do without her intervention.

It was eerie, the entire surreal experience. Pods littered the hallway, green cocoons Kagerou could only imagine held the other residents of Kiri. When she passed by her parents room, she had to wonder if one of them possibly held her mom or dad, and she felt the same when she passed by her uncle's room. her mind found its way to the worst possibility, and Kagerou couldn't bear to think any further than that. She backpedaled so hard.

<'You never went back for her.'>

She suddenly found herself remembering that sensation of abandoning, of running away. The words that echoed in her head had her slow to a halt and turn around to look at the countless pods that she had passed since entering the Sero. As she felt like she was leaving all of those trapped behind, Kagerou turned to look ahead of her, where even more entrapped residents lay. Then she looked up to remind herself that there was really only one way and it was forwards. Kagerou's hands clenched over the shards she held as she promised herself that she would hold no regrets no matter what the mistake because it was human to err.

Kagerou continued, and after so long without any strange occurrences, she had subconsciously settled into thinking that all she had to do was climb. Still, she would have been a shame to her mother's side of the family if she wasn't alert even when she thought she was done. She was racing up the last few flights, the final burst some might say, when she noticed a single door, one she almost never paid attention to because she wasn't meant for those doors, was open. It only took a moment for Kagerou to resolve that entering without permission was worth it. As soon as she passed through the door, a corner of her vision caught the sight of blood that shone like a jewel, like the eye of the Inka-lone. Kagerou sensed something off from the very beginning. Her head turned, but like with the sound of falling bodies earlier, there was nothing. The next trick was a glimmer of gold, like the other eye of the Inka-lone. Kagerou's peripheral vision registered hair, and somehow it also very clearly saw scalp and... sand? The office floor wasn't sand, though. Kageoru couldn't even feign surprise if she wanted to when she turned and saw nothing was there. It was, again, another genjutsu. Another, harmless genjutsu to do... what? Break her spirit? Fill her with misgivings? Misgivings that came more from her own suspicions?

Again, the shard whispered to her. Again, Kagerou found herself with more questions than answers. She could think about it for ages, or she could move on. She chose to move on. Today was just the day of picking the second choice, really.

It wasn't until Kagerou reached the landing of the Mizukage's office that she understood. Well, in truth, it had been a suspicion, but she who knew so little about who the Mizukage was as a person could not go all in on what amounted to little more than a hunch rooted in intuition.

Voices whispered from the desks of those that worked on the landing, most filled with pods, but a few without. Whispers that spoke... about her? No, not about a lowly genin. They had no reason to waste their breath talking about her behind her back like the echo from the shard claimed. Kagerou's grim face broke into a sad smile as the pieces came together. It used to be Jack and Shadow that held the spotlight. Now, with them gone, of course it had to mean Inka, the current Mizukage.

It was Inka who understood most of all that the eyes of everyone in the village judged him mercilessly.

It was Inka who could not save a blonde man from the ANBU.

It was Inka who had let a small girl drown.

At least, it was Inka who thought like that, or maybe it was the Sero, picking at his insecurities and revealing where he was most vulnerable. Whatever the case, something pretty terrible must be happening to him right now.

Well, that was some fun theorizing, but it was time to move on. Kagerou advanced cautiously. She placed her shards away and double checked that her left hand, which she had healed by now, was functioning properly despite the damage it had taken earlier. Her bells, of course, had to be on her wrist, but they were gripped within her right hand, their sound silenced. Nothing impeded her quiet approach, however. She didn't hear a sound until she pressed her ear against the door that led to the waiting room for the kage's office. She could hear muffles, not just indistinct whispers, on the other side.

Taking a small gamble, Kagerou released her bells so they would ring freely and opened the door in one motion. Her side, instead of her front, faced the doorway, but when Kagerou saw more people, awake and alive, her eyes lit up and that cautious purse of her lips spread into a smile. Among them stood Severin, and as he was the only one Kagerou recognized in the whole room, of course she greeted him first, "Severin," and then the others, "and everyone, hello." She was happy and her smiled proved that, but she couldn't quite muster excitement. That was a little hard to do when creepy pods were hanging down from the ceiling everywhere.

She took a moment to survey her surroundings, which were stranger than even the rest of the tower. Of course, at the end of it all, Kagerou's eyes settled on the door to the Mizukage's office, and the lock embedded within it. Others had already placed their shards of differing colors in. Kagerou, if she wasn't stopped, walked up to do the same, clearly and politely letting the others know, "Excuse me a moment." From her projectile pouch, she retrieved the three shards entrusted to her, two amber and one rose, and placed them within the circular clearing, wherever it was that they seemed to fit.

After relinquishing the pieces to the vines, Kagerou stepped back and... could only hope she had done the right thing. "Now we wait," she spoke mostly to reassure herself, "For the rest to come with their shards. After all, each Inka-lone really doesn't want someone other than their chosen to enter them." Blowing out a huff of air, she turned around to look at the others.

The target(s) will have a vague sense of how bad the damage will be, but do not know what exactly will happen.

Dream Audience - Kagerou's dream is to help as many as she could. From this desire, the dream world manifested the power to multiply the recipients of all of her eiseijutsu techniques. With neither extra effort nor decrease in power, Kagerou can affect two extra targets for each eiseijutsu activation as long as they fulfill the requirements to be a target (i.e. contact for most eiseijutsu by default or sound when Kagerou performs eiseijutsu). Past the starting two, she must spend a total of 5(n-3)+10 energy split evenly between chakra and stamina for each additional target; n = number of targets. Odd energy costs are split with 1 more point of stamina than chakra. This additional cost cannot be reduced or refunded.

The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Iryo-nin I - Kagerou receives a +1 dr [slightly modifier] to her eiseijutsu for each medical title earned. 2 medical titles = +2 dr [mildly modifier].

Mind and Body I - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Mind and Body II - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Evergreen Growth - Life always finds a way, especially when it's helped by someone who truly cherishes it. Plants cultivated by Kagerou grow as if the soil they are nourished by is +1 grade higher than it actually is. Unfertilized soil yields crops in 2 rl weeks. Low-grade fertilizer yields crops in 1 week. High-grade fertilizer reaches a new level of fast and yields crops in 4 days. (Post-acceptance note: I just realized that there is an Evergreen religion in this guild. I did not mean for this to be a religious PA in any way. It's just botany. I hope that's not a problem.)

Considering that even more mysteries followed after the last time mysterious mysteries mystified Kirigakure, Kagerou erred on the side of caution and busied herself with a relatively no risk task. There was a mission up on the board regarding suggesting improvements to Kirigakure's infrastructure, and there was one thing Kagerou had in mind regarding Kirigakure's medical system.

Although, being rather inexperienced herself, she sought assistance and advice from those older and more experienced. Today, her purpose at the academy wasn't to train, but to visit her uncle, Suigetsu Kiritani, who taught at the academy, and ask him to help develop some sort of system or another to support and guarantee the skills of shinobi who were interested in working as medical practitioners.

He was offering some advice, which began with a complete overhaul of Kagerou's original idea because it was impractical and unrealistic, when he paused at a good spot to take a break and asked, "Kagerou, is everything alright?" as Kagerou finished jotting down the important details.

Kagerou looked up from her writing and gave a quizzical smile, waiting to hear a little more before committing to a reply.

Suigetsu, for his part, just stared back at Kagerou in response to her non response. For the record, yes, this is how many a conversation between Kiritanis went. Just endless staring contests.

Kagerou, being only half a Kiritani, caved in first, "Uncle, I'm feeling just fine."

"Is that so?" Suigetsu looked Kagerou right in the eyes, "Kagerou, you've shown your nervous smile at least five times since entering the room and throughout your entire explanation; you've shown uncharacteristic pauses, stutters, and mumbles throughout your explanation; you've said sorry at least six times; your eyes have shifted uncertainly maybe four times since I asked you the question; and a few other details I won't bore you with. You're hesitating, uncertain about something."

Well, with a dissection of her actions like that, there was no way Kagerou could say anything against her uncle, especially not when it was true.

"At least try to lie, it will be good practice."

Kagerou just smiled in complete surrender as she admitted, "You know how I feel about lying..."

"But isn't that what changed?" Suigetsu asks with an unreadable face. As ever, he's there and he's helping but not really, like he really would rather be elsewhere... sometime in the past.

Kagerou started, eyes wide as she revealed, "H-how did you know?". She still smiled even after being found out. It was almost a relief to be found out, even though the lie had been so short-lived.

The teacher's eyes move away from Kagerou's expression as he turns in his chair to stare at a wall instead, "I didn't. It was just a guess, an educated one. It is difficult to work from the shadows while touting only the truth. I predicted you will realize that as you grew order. That being said, deflection is a crafty but basic method to hide secrets. You'll need to work on learning when to give up, or in this case, when to not give up."

"Mm..."

"Deflection can also come in layers."

"Mm..."

"If you wish to not give up, you will need to become stronger. Your lies are weak."

"...," Kagerou had nothing to say. Her plan B alternate path had been foiled. Curses.

Her uncle, as well, remained silent.

Eventually, Kagerou resisted, "I... I don't need to tell you anything." Oh? Was this the rebellious phase come late?

The good uncle moved right along to business in that case, "Then let's resume talking about setting guidelines and standards for medical shinobi."

Kagerou just stared very sadly and very silently with big bubble eyes as she realized that yes, yes she wanted to share and have an adult help her.

The uncle, turning to look at his niece didn't even sigh. He half expectedd this sort of outcome. "Have you changed your mind?" he asked.

Kagerou nodded. Yes, she had changed her mind, so she began regaling her uncle with the long tale. It took some time to start, the circumstances surrounding what bothered her being of a nature she was not comfortable with revealing. However, without jeopardizing any information that was better left unsaid, Kagerou summarized everything she had gone through just earlier today.

Her uncle, in return, did not pry. Serving Kirigakure was the Kiritani tradition. Secrets between members of the family was more common than uncommon.

After Kagerou recounted what the Inka-lone had said to her, what Takeda had said to her, and the errors she had committed in the Mizukage's office, silence fell between the two of them.

In time, Kagerou's uncle advised, "Kagerou, people are, by nature, unreliable natures. When they speak, their words paint the picture that they want, at least on some subconscious level. I think, from listening to you, that you know what your answer is already." He paused for a little bit to stare into Kagerou's earnest eyes. No deception lay in them, and thus, he could use them to gauge what his niece thought. After ascertaining that what he had said was not false, Suigetsu continued his analysis, "You are here for an answer from me, though... and I must admit, there is nothing I can say to help... You remember, I'm sure, that when you chose to deal life over death, I warned you that you will need to be prepared to support yourself."

Kagerou cast her eyes down to the ground. What were the answers of hers that her uncle had heard in her questions? Guilt. She understood that she had been mule-headed, even as she was wholly willing to take on the burden of that guilt and dislike. In the heat of the moment, she had thought childishly, as if the world was a perfect place where she could protect and know the best for everyone. That was not the case, though, and she had to learn how to let go... when her entire drive up to this point was to hold on.

"If..." Kagerou's uncle spoke up again, starting hesitantly, "This advice is unsuited for your situation, but... Hm... I am sure you remember being taught that the key to attracting any target is to do so indirectly, to lure them in without making them realize that their attention was your goal. That is my advice to your dilemma. Right now, your hovering might very well be what is urging your 'targets' away. Step away. They will come to you when they need you, and your job while you wait is to gather more and more of what they will need. In short, you shouldn't worry and just focus on your personal growth." This was Suigetsu's way of living up to Kagerou's expectations because he could tell that she had been searching for something that he did not know how to give.

Kagerou listened, but she did not look like it. She remained in silent thought as the minutes ticked away. Being labeled as a "pompous b***h" had really hurt, unlike anything else she had felt, and while she didn't quite know why, she knew that she didn't want this kind of feeling to linger. In the end, she sighed, understanding that the problem was deeper than the lingering insult to her pride. It had exposed an inadequacy, one of at least two she'd noticed in the recent emergency "test."

Calmly thinking about it, Kagerou's specialty, inadequacy meant she needed to improve somehow... somewhere... How? She was already telling herself that she had gone overboard with her heightened concern for others after Jack's and Shadow's death, with the unintended conceited thinking that she always needed to be doing everything to prevent any more untimely demises. She was already telling herself that Takeda had a point, that she was being too much if she was trying to force her vision of health onto everyone. She was already telling herself that it was because she paid too much attention on the well being and feelings of those around her that she had made the fatal mistake of letting the situation in the Mizukage's office fall into chaos. However, simply telling herself didn't feel like she was going anywhere.

This bad feeling was just something Kagerou would need to internalize, remember, and burn into herself so that next time she would learn, fix her mistake, and rid herself of the branded insult as she moved forwards. With her reflection drawing to a close, Kagerou smiled. She was a little bit back to her usual self. The rest would come shortly.

"Shall we move on, Uncle?" she chirped, and the two carried on until they reached a point where Kagerou would need to ask for the expertise of others.

Right before she left, Suigetsu offered some final advice, "Kagerou, there is nothing better than firsthand experience, but tread carefully. Becoming Oinin will teach a lot of what you are missing, but you must remember what is important to you, your reasons for why you are missing that understanding because more likely than not, Oinin will take those reasons away from you." Not a word of Oinin had been mentioned in their entire talk, but he could tell. Kagerou had tried to lie. She had noticed that what she once tossed aside as unneeded could be used for good. From lying to acting to secrets. The position of Oinin naturally lay on that path.

With a reassuring smile, Kagerou left without a word, too afraid to make promises she might not be able to keep.

Kagerou || Deva ||Asura || Human / Naraka || Animal || Preta
User ImageEnter from Land of Floods Main Road

The wry smile that crawled across Kagerou's face was unstoppable as she looked down at the utter waste parts of the false village had been laid to from her mountaintop view. She had come too late for everyone's bold declaration, but just in time to see the village being ripped apart like an ink drawn painting on paper. She didn't think the invader would be so rash or that she would be so late. Alas, there was a silver lining to all this. Having come in the same direction he had, she now stood on the side of the mini boss opposite of most of the others.

She had been last to arrive, but for good cause. On the way here, she had paused briefly to look more into the scroll the Arashikage had given her, the one that she hadn't had a chance to learn. She could only prepare for the worst, and she had to admit, if worst came to worst, then raising the dead as corpses held far fewer drawbacks than a full revival. It was an unsavory technique to her, still, and also one that was yet unfamiliar to her. However, she had the knowledge of it now, at least. [Learn 1 technique]

Now, here the tardy defender stood upon a mountaintop with three other companions, three adolescents, one an oni. None of them moved however. The ones to move, as soon as Kagerou had registered each of the chakra signatures and gotten the general gist of what was occurring, was a bird, a speck high up in the sky, as it descended at rapid speeds to the grounds below and passed by, still far above, in one swoop. Crouching low upon its back, hidden save from certain all-seeing eyes, was a white kemono with brilliant red eyes, and for those who could bother with even finer details, eyes with rings and tomoes that scanned the battlefield before locking onto, not Sandayu, but the more important dome of newly destroyed sand and newly formed ice. Now this close, the fainter chakra signatures could be seen, barely noticeable, but there.

On the ground, two figures finally reached the edge of the village: a lithe female with features vaguely like Kagerou's and a burdened male who was dressed down in so many tags that his face could barely be seen. Both had the same eyes as the kemono retreating above. Though there was no way either could see what had happened at the dome above, the female figure vanished as soon as her partner in the skies saw what had happened. In a cloud of smoke she disappeared. In yet another cloud, she appeared besides Sonyo, having reverse-summoned herself to her side.

Hopefully before anyone could disagree and destroy her, the figure jumped back into the crowd of patients. One hand held aloft her bell-adorned hoops. Her charming smile flashed seductively to her audience. With effortless allure and a single twist of a wrist, the hoop spun upon the palm of her hand as her fingers made esoteric signs to accompany her dance. Like a magic trick, misdirection technically, the unused hand unfurled a scroll that had been hidden away within clothes, and as a powerful healing aura spread through Sonyo and the injured [Kiritani: Dance of Saisei [Regeneration] S base; A augment], a more condensed chakra aura manifested and drew a crude landscape upon the empty scroll. A scene of desolate desert. At the last minute, one adjustment was made at the same time the airborne Kemono body tracked Belamos's rage fueled attack. It was the only break in the dreary scenery, a tanuki's maw of sand (or earth if sand isn't allowed) and stone, the same size as Belamos's dragon, rising up from the ground as a giant hill (or a small mountain) that threatened to swallow the tiny little, angry-faced stick figure of Sandayu, complete with emo hair. Hopefully, by this point, the healing would have bought this body enough time to use her second technique. With a decisive stomp plus a flourish of the hoops, the earth shifted to make the image a reality. In the blink of an eye, the remaining buildings were swallowed by the very ground they stood on, sucked into the quickly forming sea of sand that, once settled, remained firmly packed. The Doton tanuki burst forth from the changing landscape and threatened to swallow Sandayu. It was, at once, a preparation and an attack. The entire field was now a desert, if not in temperature, than at least in terrain, and now Sandayu could not dodge down, at least. You know, if his holiness was even able to conceive of such a notion.

Kagerou would leave the whole temperature/humidity thing up to Mr. Flashy over there who's got the Hots for Sonyo. If he could get all the moisture to form thunderclouds, that would be… a bit of a roulette, she imagined. More importantly, she found herself concerned on… how to be helpful in this situation. The wounded had been healed as best they could in such short time, each receiving the full effects of the Regeneration technique to literally reconstruct the very cells of the body just short of actually repairing limbs. However, compared to the rest… Orbital lasers coming from ground units. People with fists moving so fast they looked like Indian gods. Domes of sand and ice rising up in mere moments. Blazing dragons being casually released from spears. It was a shame that the Hatake's attack, despite being so smoothly executed, almost seemed mundane compared to the rest. Geezus. Even this Kiri native had to admit this was a new sort of scary, yet her demeanor showed nothing of the sort. She smiled with composure and an eerie calms as she considered how next to support the main cast.

And the poor, heavily clothed male figure who had been abandoned at what was once the edge of the village stood on standby all alone. Only his head and eyes moved, keeping an eye on the action as it occurred.

The super important things Kagerou's Deva Path did:
- Heal NPCS [most, super duper important]
- Heal Sonyo
- Turn the village into a desert
- Tried to reverse the phrase "eat dirt" with Sandayu

Akshara ◈ D-rank ◈ Chakra: 100 ◈ Stamina: 100

She also has one giant chakra receiver sticking through the right side of her back and another one sticking through the left side of her neck.

Gyaku Kuchiyose no Jutsu [ Reverse Summoning Technique ] C
Type: Supplemental :: [ Universal ]
Official Description: Gyaku Kuchiyose no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which allows an individual to summon a person or being to their location using a summoning scroll. In normal Kuchiyose, the signed summoning contract allows the summoner to call upon his or her summons without the contract present. This modification allows for any individual to be summoned through the use of a scroll tied back to the one to be summoned. This scroll allows the individual to be far away and be transported instantly to the location of the summoning scroll. In this variation, Naruto created two clones to remain at Myouboku and gather Senjutsu Chakra. Upon being needed, the scroll seal tied to one of the clones was activated, drawing one to his location.
Guild Description: See official description. Requires Kuchiyose no Jutsu [ Summoning Technique ]. Summons one's self (or those with one's chakra in them) to any current, specific DNA contract, as specified by the Kuchiyose no Jutsu. Requiring a signed Kuchiyose to be made prior, the user will transport their body to the person who signed the contract (the opposite intent of the original Kuchiyose no Jutsu [ Summoning Technique ]).

Saisei [ Regeneration ]
Rank: S
Official Description: A healing technique is useless when a portion of a patient’s body has been destroyed. Burns from fire or acid, nerve damage from toxin, lung damage from some diseases, all simply can’t be healed away because the body has literally no means to correct them. This technique remedies the problem. By using healthy skin, muscle and other tissues, portions of a patient’s body can be reconstructed. This technique can correct most forms of damage but requires great effort on the part of the medical nin and in the case of injuries that have gone unhealed for too long, the technique is only partially effective. Some portion of the damaged area must be remaining in order to reconstruct it so it is not possible to reconstruct missing limbs with this technique.
Guild Description: See the official description. This cannot be used to recover blindness of Sharingan.

• Kiritani Hidden Technique: Dance of Saisei [Regeneration] A
Type: Augment
Element: Varies
A technique modified by this augment changes from its original shape into a controlled burst centered on the user, increasing in size the more chakra is invested. Offensive techniques transformed in this way follow the multi-target rules, diminishing in power the more targets are hit. The power of supplementary techniques, however, are excluded, maintaining power regardless of the number of targets. As the burst is controlled, the user is able to choose who is affected by the technique.
The augment can cost anywhere from E- to A-rank. If the rank of the augment is equal to or greater than the rank of the base technique, then it can hit one target without diminishing in power.
A- 16m burst from user.
This is an augment to a base technique, and so takes zero activations to use. The element/type of this augment for the purpose of chakra reductions and the like is determined by the base technique. Multiple augments may be used on one technique. This augment can only modify techniques that are wholly paid for with chakra.

▰ Uitenpen [ Impermanence ] | Rank S
Normally utilizing a scroll, the user draws the landscape desired & then forcea chakra through it, causing the land around them to rapidly conform to the design. When the jutsu is used without a design, a massive flow of earth is generated instead - capable of pushing through nearby structures. The doton created by this technique may also serve as a medium for the resurrected bodies of Doton • Shishi Dojou.
