The last thing Joy needed after being stranded on the desert island for a year was a chore that meant sitting around and doing a whole lot of nothing. But while it was only actually three days, the intermediate moon trainee could not bring herself to just shirk off responsibilities.

So here she was, sitting around to watch a bunch of sleepers in their pods, waiting for some sign that someone was waking. She didn't remember hers much, or rather she tried not to remember because feelings.

Her weapon gave a disapproving grunt but that was so commonplace Joy barely noticed. Joy made a note to herself that the next time she went back to civilization she'd finally get herself that tablet and get it runic'd so she'd have something to do during these chores.

First there was a hissing sound, then, slowly, one of the occupied pods began to open. The door moved in a graceful arc upwards, until it came to a halt. The hissing continued for a moment, then stopped, as a young woman stumbled out of the pod, almost falling to the floor as she did so. There was a long moment after that where she stood in place, wavering a little before she began to move again, a shuffling, off balance walk. The girl was clearly dazed, very out of it... But she had spotted the other person in the room and was headed straight for them.

"Wh... where... who... what...?" She tried to ask something, but so many words tumbled out of the dazed young lady's mouth that there was no coherent consensus on what she actually meant. Her blue eyes were somewhat unfocused behind her glasses, but she was trying to stare intently at the other woman. "Help...?" She finally managed, one coherent, clear statement.

The instant the pod's contents showed signs of waking, an alarm in the monitor room began to sound. At first, Joy didn't understand what it meant but the monitors were quick to locate and indicate where said sleeping beauty was finally rising.

She ran out from the monitor room, rushing to where the pods were housed. By the time she arrived, the hunter candidate inside was already out and on their feet. Joy could remember her first time (and her second), and in her approach, presented a warm, friendly smile.

"Good morning, good morning," she gently greeted, curbing her usual enthusiasm and energy so as not to overwhelm the other woman. She held her hands out, an offering that could be seen as a hug or for support, "How are you feeling?"

Seren's... yes that WAS her name, that's right. She was Seren Yong... eyes flicked back and forth between Joy's hands and her face, for a moment, before she stumbled a little further forwards to clasp the offered hands, for support. "Ah... thank you." She closed her eyes, and shivered a little, trying to find an answer to the question. How WAS she feeling?

She had a sinking feeling there were memories she didn't want to connect to, a feeling of confusion as to where she was, and a feeling of hope that maybe something had a chance to at least have a positive outcome from whatever was going on here. She contemplated all of this, then said "I haven't a clue beyond confused. Also somewhat weak in the knees." She refused to address the issue regarding the sinking feeling.

After all, if she didn't want to connect to them, she probably didn't want to tell others she HAD memories that bad. If they didn't know they were there, they couldn't treat her like a freak.

"Okidoks," Joy said the word with her accent stronger than normal, "Being confused about stuff is normal, especially at first. You can keep holding onto me for balance and if you need to throw up or something, lemme know and I'll, uh, prolly try to grab a trashcan and hold your hair back." The smile on her face remained warm, sympathetic even.

"My name's Joy," the moon trainee looked at the chart on the pod, "And this says your name's Seren Yong. Huh. You Chinese?" she asked, trying to make conversation about something normal. She hoped it'd help the newly awakened hunter regain their bearings faster. After all, who knew if another mission suddenly came up without warning.

The comment about throwing up caused the young woman to blink a few times, as she hadn't even considered the state of her gut when taking stock, as everything else had been more urgent. She focused for a moment on her gut, and was quite relieved to find it felt... empty as ******** but settled. Emotionally, she didn't feel hungry but she could tell she would need to satisfy her body's needs some point in the near-ISH future, at least. In the meantime, though, she just smiled a little, and said "Uh... is a stool or chair a possibility, perhaps? I think sitting down for a minute might help..."

When Joy asked about being Chinese, a slightly displeased/pained expression flickered across her face, because she had to think about her family. She covered it fairly quickly, and shook her head. "No, my Father is Korean-American. Mother is of Welsh descent." The tone she used when referring to her parents was flat, emotionless, as if talking about people she didn't know at all... Or didn't want to know. "But yes, Seren." She sighed a little, and smiled at Joy. "Thank you for your help, Ms. Joy." She didn't know the other lady well, and it had ALWAYS been a good idea to show respect to those who were older and/or more experienced then her in the past.

Joy was sadly not wordly enough to know anything about the Welsh, beyond this one drink called Welch and that was not even pronounced the same but that was where her thoughts led her. So her only reaction was "'Cool. I'm Filipino, we got people from all over." Sadly she had yet to encounter another Filipino but Joy was hopeful.

"We got seats in the observation room, it's lots closer than the infirmary," she said, "And sus, it's just Joy."

"That is good to know. I am used to a variety of people..." Her town hadn't been San Francisco level of multi cultural but it had been decently ethnically mixed, so the idea of not having such was an odd one in her head. She beamed at the suggestion of the seats in a near location. "That would be lovely, I would appreciate going to sit down. And my apologies, Joy." She took a deep breath, trying to relax in this weird environment.

So far, being surrounded by these pods was unnerving her, and getting away from them might help too. "So... what... do I do now?" That was her biggest question, because she had no idea. She didn't really remember much between leaving and waking here...

Joy led the newly awakened hunter to the observation room, where there were a couple of empty chairs. The seats were nothing too comfortable (otherwise Joy would have fallen asleep in them) but they served their purpose. "Now, it's time for you to get your weapon bond."

To emphasize, Joy brought out what appeared to be a spoon charm and held it out to Seren.

Seren blinked a little as she settled herself into one of the chairs. Comfort wasn't the most important thing here, resting off her feet was, so they were basically perfect at the moment. She tilted her head, and stared at the... spoon charm? "This is a weapon...?" She sounded more confused then ever, as her hand reached up to brush the spoon. "It's so small..."

And how did one get one's weapon bond? Was Joy to explain that too, or was there going to be some one else who did that? So many things were beginning to bubble in her mind about this new life she was going to lead. "How long have you lived here, Joy?" She decided that was a good place to start.

Joy felt a rustle of irritation in the back of her head, inwardly smirking at Bert's indignation at being called small. "It's not the size that counts, it's how you use it~" she winked before summoning the bladed shovel into its real form to show Seren. "This is Kubyerto, or Bert as I call him. He doesn't really care what I call him so long as I call him whenever we gotta fight stuff. Or in my case defend against stuff."

She turned this time to show the moon symbol on her coat, "I've been in the Moon Division over two years now. And there's been a whole lotta new faces that just woke up so don't worry about being a newbie."

Seren's brows went straight up, in surprise and amusement, at the comment on size, then she half jumped back in her seat, eyes HUGE with surprise at the way the tiny spoon became a giant, and sharp, shovel. "What... What? How the hell did you do that? Was it some sort of... of sleight of hand?" She had never SEEN anyone do a trick with something that big but maybe... Or was this related to how this was a place for those who saw the shadows? She was unnerved but also curious.

The coat got a quick look, before Seren's eyes were back on Joy's face, since 'moon division' didn't mean much to her. "Oh, I see. And... I guess I'm just more... curious about your experience... The more you've been here, the more you know and can tell me I think is what I'm trying to get at?"

Even after Joy dismissed Bert back into his totem form, the intermediate trainee was all smiles, "It's not really a trick? Just something you can do once you go to the cove and get a weapon of your own. Different peeps get different weapons and totem forms. I know a couple've 'em turn into, like, jewelry. Earrings, bracelets, rings, that sorta stuff. Kiiiiinda wish Bert's was something wearable. 'Stead of something I gotta carry around like a keychain."

When Seren explained her reason for asking about Joy's tenure, there was a rather embarrassed look on the moon hunter's face. "I uh I'm kinda not that good with the knowledge stuffs? All I know is, there are these bad things called Horsemen, which the book of Revelation obvs copied their apocalypse riders from. And these Horsemen want Humanity under their control and Hunters like us dead."

The gravity of what she was saying didn't seem all that grim, what with that wide smile on her face.

She stared at the tiny little totem form, baffled and confused. This was well beyond the ken of what she'd known all her life. Small things becoming big ones, then large again? Well, this was going to be an adjustment. She should have guessed it when they asked her to fake her death, a thing that had her going 'But why? My family doesn't even know or care where I was...' but she'd done it for her new employer. Now her world was full of strangeness. "Wearable... certainly seems useful and easier to keep track of?" She finally said, unsure what else to say.

Seren's head went back, her eyes wide at this information. She didn't really know much about the bible, so the Revelations comment went over her head, though she vaguely recognized the Riders of the Apocalypse. However, that was more because of how game culture and similar used them, then anything else. "Horsemen... Are they the shadows I've seen, then?" Her face went serious, as she considered this. Things that wanted to control humanity, that wasn't right... If she died to stop it, that was another concern but less important in her eyes. She nodded, quietly. "Well then... I think I am glad I made the choice I have... Strange though this place seems to be."

"Oh Shadows! Kinda sorta? Like, you know that math thingy? That Vienna diagram? That uh two circles overlapping? Wait, no that's not what best explains. Um," Joy chewed on her lower lip trying to think. s**t she was so bad at this. "Okay more like, not all Shadows are Horsemen, some are Halloween. Yeah, Halloween's something else. They're like Horsemen but not? They're made of FEAR and most of the Halloweeners I've encountered are students. Most of them are real sweeties, but some got grudges against Hunters and will try to kill you too."

She coughed uncomfortably at this, recalling how her last encounter in the Haunted House nearly drowned her.
