The walk back to Afton's apartment was quiet, both of them lost in their own thoughts, but it felt a lot more comfortable than it would have if he'd had to walk home alone after everything. Helping matters was that he'd grabbed onto Afton's hand and, thankfully, his friend hadn't shaken him off. It wasn't something they normally did, not something he ever figured Afton would want to do, but he was grateful for the anchor to something normal. Afton was real and with him and at least that was something he could deal with. He wasn't sure how he was going to deal with everything else. The magical freaks were supposed to be other people. Not him and ... if that had, if they'd both ... not Afton either. They were supposed to be normal teenagers who were settling into their first years at collage.

They took the elevator up to his floor and he nudged Afton into the hall as the door opened. He shuffled the two of them down the hall, glad that no one else seemed to be lingering about outside of their rooms. He didn't really want to talk to anyone, didn't want to be around anyone... Fortunately, Hartley Deere wasn't just anyone. He tugged his keys out of his pocket, unlocking the door before ushering his friend inside. "Go take a seat on the couch and we'll take a look at your knee and then order some takeout."

He sniffled slightly as he heard Afton speak but nodded and after slipping off his shoes padded over to the sofa. He didn't really want to not have Afton near him but he knew he needed to sit down. He figured Afton did too but something told him even if he complained his friend wasn't just going to sit down. "I'm alright ... just scrapes." His knees stung but he didn't think it was anything too bad. When he sat down he pulled his knees up to his chest, leaning against the arm of the couch as he tucked himself into a ball. Everything still felt strange and weird and he just wanted something normal

By the time he made it back over to the couch it was with supplies in tow. He set an ice pack down on the sofa next to Hartley, shifting a bowl filled with warm water and a cloth to the coffee table and then drawing his first aid kit out from where he'd tucked it beneath his arm. "C'mon... Legs down so we can clean off the scrapes and put a bit of salve on them. Lemme see." He reached out to lightly nudge his friend's shin as he took a seat on the floor in front of him.

"They don't really hurt..." He'd watched Afton come back over and had debated shifting then but he didn't really want to untuck himself. It was at least a little comforting to be curled up into a ball even if his sweatpants were tugging at the scraped skin. When Afton nudged his leg he frowned but uncurled himself so he could tug the loose fabric up over his knees. The road rash wasn't too bad, nothing that was still bleeding, but the skin was still badly scraped and an angry red.

"Either way." He shifted the water closer to him, ringing out the cloth before bringing it over to gently dab at the scrapes on Harley's knees. He brushed the debris away gently before wetting the cloth again so that he could carefully clean up the dried blood. "Sorry if it hurts... Salve should help a little bit. Think we should tape some gauze over them for the night?" His brow lofted as he tilted his head, glancing up to the other man.

He winced as the washcloth brushed against his knees but after a first initial hiss of breath managed to keep quiet. The scrapes hadn't hurt before but bringing attention to them, no matter how careful Afton was, did. He hadn't scraped his knees since he was a child and part of him felt stupid for doing it. Getting hurt and making Afton take care of him wasn't something he'd planned on. Wasn't something he wanted to be doing. It took him a moment to register that Afton had asked him something and he nodded slowly. "You don't have band-aids big enough .. Afton ... you didn't get hurt did you?"

"I'm good. Fine. I'm fine." He shook his head, certain hewouldn't actually have noticed if anything had happened to him at all with the way everything had happened so quickly. His head was still reeling and there really wasn't a goddamn thing that made sense right now. He glanced up to his friend while setting the washcloth down, leaning back just a bit to properly see Hartley's face. "Don't have bandaids that big, no, but I do have gauze and some medical tape if you want the scrapes covered so nothing brushes them.

"Are you sure? I mean ... you promise?" He shifted a bit and stretched out one leg, trying not to wince as the freshly cleaned cut pulled. He hadn't though he'd scraped up his knee that bad but it must have been given the way it pulled. Gauze and tape was a good idea but he didn't really want Afton go go away again to get the supplies. "Maybe, yes. I just ... i don't want you to leave again."

He ignored Hartley's question in favor of shifting to reach for the first aid kit, holding it up to show the other man that he didn't have to go anywhere to get the bandaging supplies. He was going to remain insistent that he was just fine, other than possibly being mentally disturbed and entirely thrown off by the whole situation. Things like this didn't just happen. "I'm not going anywhere, Hart, other than maybe to get my laptop to order food in the event my phone, or your phone, doesn't have enough charge to do it." He unwrapped the gauze, eying the square before looking at his friend's knee in an attempt to judge whether or not it would work. Deciding it would he spritzed a bit of lidocaine on it before covering it with the bandage, carefully taping it down. "Veggie pizza for dinner? Or do we want to go for Chinese?"

"Chinese ... i dont know if eating cheese would be a good idea." With everything that had happened he figured it would be best not to test his stomach and just eat things that he knew would agree with him. IT would be easier to get something vegetarian from the Chinese place than it would be to hope there wasn't much cheese on the pizza. When Afton put the gauze on his knee he winced slightly, the pad not soft enough to not pull at his skin for a moment but he tried to cover it up as best he could. Having the scrapes covered was important. Reaching out he brushed his fingers though Afton's hair, plucking out a bit of dirt that had gotten tangled up in it.

He pushed himself up before leaning in to brush a soft, chaste kiss to his friend's forehead. He shifted back after that, watching Harley for a moment longer before straightening himself out so he could snag his phone to place an order for their usual fare from the nearest Chinese place. He didn't wander far from the couch, not wanting to let Hart too far out of his sight, assuming that feeling was mutual. Once the food was ordered he made his way over to the fridge, snagging two bottles of water to tide them over until dinner came. "We're... Going to talk about this crazy s**t eventually, right? I mean we have to. I'm assuming we have to. We can't just... Ignore it, can we?"

Hartley watched his friend move about, listening to him order the food, and tried not to curl himself too tight onto the couch. His knees still hurt and everything still felt like it was tilted at some strange angle. When Afton came back over with the water he took one of the bottles, opening it to take a sip. "I .. think we have to, not ignore it I mean." Not that he wouldn't have been happy ignoring it. "I thought all of that was just, it wasn't real"

He settled down on the couch next to his friend, holding on to his water bottle as he leaned forward to rest his elbows on his knees. None of it was supposed to be real. It was all supposed to be bullshit-- random gang violence and acts of terrorism. They weren't in a video game. They weren't comic book characters. No. It was more like they were in a freaking anime. He groaned, pushing off of his knees to lean back, slumping against the couch. "That cat was talking, right? There was a talking cat?"

"Yea ... it said it's name was Sumi." The cat had also said it owuld keep an eye on him and he wasn't quite sure he liked that idea. It seemed weird to have a cat not only talking but watching over you. "Was like something out of one of those shows you like to watch." Except it had been real and not just something made up to entertain kids. "All the stuff on tv is real..."
