Niku had done a lot of thinking lately, and he was certain of one thing. It was undeniable and was unable to be ignored;

His future was completely and utterly uncertain.

Several auditions had fallen flat, and ones he did manage to get picked from ended up with him being a background character. the excuses he heard was that he was too young, he was too dark, his hair was too short, too long...Anything that he could have easily changed with a haircut, wardrobe change or makeup. None of the people holding the auditions seemed to realize this, and near the end of the schoolyear, Niku figured they probably wouldn't have been good to work under anyhow.

One play did stick out in his mind though, The Winter's Tale. Set to play as the child of Queen Hermione and King Leontes, Perdita, Niku was perfectly fine with the directional choices made up until the scene where Antigonus was supposed to be chased from a bear. The director was insisting on using a real bear, trained and on loan from a professional animal trainer.

Very aware of the dangers that came with using such an animal, especially around young children, Niku had voiced his opinion on the matter, suggesting that a bear suit would be sufficient.

In the end, he got his way, and they used a very realistic-looking bear suit.

Niku wanted to be an actor so bad, but there were so many roadblocks in his way already. All he could hope to do was try his hardest, expand his horizons, and possibly just get lucky.

And maybe one day, they could use a real bear.
