[Backdated to 3.5.17] - [x]

Light filtered down through the leaves providing cover to the grove she'd chosen to wait for Sailor Aegir in. It wasn't often that Corvus powered up during the daylight hours, but she'd made an exception for not wanting to lose the light on Corvus. This early in the morning she wasn't expecting anyone else anyways, considering it wasn't open to the public until noon on Sunday.

At her feet sat the backpack that she'd thrown together the night before, adding the lunch that she'd prepped to it that morning before leaving her flat. In one hand she held a chai latte that she was sipping at slowly as she waited, the other holding on to the coffee that she'd promised to bring Aegir when he'd agreed to meet her at the early hour.

It was so peaceful standing in grove that she would have been tempted to just stay here and talk had she not felt compelled more and more to return to Corvus and continue her exploration.

Aegir was used to early mornings since his work required him to be up early, but that didn't mean he didn't want some delicious hot bean juice to be waiting for him. Corvus had promised she'd bring some - as well as providing lunch - so he was looking forward to that. Colin had made the offer of providing breakfast since she was doing the bulk of the work.

He was excited to be going to see Corvus, but it was a bit strange to be powered up so early in the day. He hadn't done that in a while, generally not unless Aegir was needed would he power up before the evening. He'd almost forgotten the colours of his costume in the daylight, the way the golds sparkled, the warmth of the cream, and the richness of the purples.

Aegir showed up on time, carrying a slim lunchbox of the sort that tended to keep food warm - or cool - until you ate. "Good morning!" Corvus would be given a quick busking of lips to cheek before he zeroed in on the coffee. "I made breakfast burritos, it seemed a good idea to have food that was self contained. Is that coffee for me?"

It would be pretty obvious that he was a morning person.

"Of course the coffee is for you." A light smirk touched her lips as she brushed them against his cheek in return while holding the cup in question up to the Senshi of Silence. Once he'd taken the cup she leaned back to get a good look at him, her smirk easily sliding into a smile. Aegir looked almost royal in the early morning light, the warmth of it drawing out his colors and practically making him glow every bit as much as it confirmed that she with her coloration was meant much more for the moonbeams and shadows.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet with me so early. Breakfast burritos sound wonderful, especially ones that are homemade. Would you like to break into them now or shall we make the trip up to Corvus first?" Her tones were soft, words slow as she continued to wake up. She'd been a morning person at one point, perhaps, but not so much since she'd adapted to her new night life... Or the work hours she kept at the Cat's Paw. She seemed content, however, not letting the hour affect her overall.

"Ahhh, Moonbeam, I love you. Have I told you I love today? Because I do." Aegir took a tentative sip of the coffee to test if the temperature could be ranked as lava, scalding, or merely hot. Blessedly the golden senshi found it cool enough to drink without vaporizing his insides and he took a grateful, worshipful swallow.

Aegir bestowed upon her the most beatific of smiles as the coffee began to warm his insides, "Of course my dear, I wouldn't miss it for the world." Though they both knew that for him the hour really wasn't all that early; Colin regularly got up with the sun to work out and take an easy jog before prepping himself for a long day at DCBC and the theatre. Cordy however, worked a later shift than he did, so it wasn't really odd that she might consider the time to be extraneously early.

More coffee went into the golden-haired eternal before he answered, "I think eating first is probably a better idea. Not that I wouldn't love to break fast in a more exotic locale, but I think we'll both want the protein before hand." Plus, he could leave the lunchbox up in one of the trees and it might be there when they returned! Travelling light was important when one was heading into space. "I wrapped them in foil and put our names on them. You get chicken on yours, mine is all veg."

Thinking better of it, "Maybe only half here, half up there. I made them pretty hearty." Eggs, peppers of the red and green varieties, kale, mushrooms, and potato hash were in both; in Cordy's there were also pieces of really nicely grilled chicken breast while his had soy. "And I'm kind of...excited to go to Corvus."

"I don't believe you've told me that yet today, but I might have had a feeling that you would." While his smile was warm and beautiful her smirk was teasing, a playful gleam in her eyes as she regarded the Senshi of Silence. Somehow the two of them had stumbled into a friendship that she appreciated-- likely more than she let on. It was good to have a friend to flirt with again; someone who had no notions that the playful, sometimes unintentional flirting between them would lead to anything more than a deeper bond of friendship. He was also a shining ray of sunshine, bringing light to the often darker side of their 'other' life.

"You're always so thoughtful, Sunshine." She accepted her breakfast burrito as it was offered to her, heading towards a softer patch of grass before plopping down to sit comfortably. Once she'd settled her skirts. smoothing the layers down over her thighs so she could set the burrito in her lap and carefully unwrap it. It smelled incredible, drawing a low rumble from her stomach as the delightful aroma confirmed that she was likely more hungry than she'd thought she would be at the early hour.

"I'm excited to be bringing you there. So far the castle hasn't seen many visitors; myself, Sailor Arsinoe, Knight Celsus and a Mauvian, but... That few is more than it's seen in ages and I keep getting the feeling that there used to be so much life there." Vengeance may have been a 'darker' sphere, but none of the brief flashes of life on Corvus that she'd gotten had lead her to believe anything other than that her people had lived well and proud.

As friendly and open as Aegir could be, sometimes it was difficult to form deeper relationships with people that spanned further than his specific efforts. He was well aware that Quenton basically ran a timer on his friendliness to others; it didn't bother him at all - largely because it was true. But getting a relationship where he wasn't the only party putting forth the effort of making something lasting was a bit trickier. And each time it happened he was eternally grateful for it.

"Not always, but you're a peach to say so." Aegir folded himself gracefully next to Corvus on the grass and chuckling at the loud rumble that came from under thick layers of gleaming, magical fabric. "Ahhhh," The heady aromas of their unwrapped food wafted upward, prompting a sigh of pleasure. "Heaven, in food form." Aegir picked up his food and dug in with relish; he didn't have to think about the caloric content either - as it was already logged nicely in his book at home. Not that he was militant about his intake, but it was kind of important that a ballet dancer remain cognizant of such things.

"More people than Aegir's seen. I took Quenton, that's about it so far." But then, he'd only explored the surface buildings, and there wasn't much space there to be interesting. "There's a lot under the water, I think. I just...don't know how to get to it. Plus, it's kind of cold, like the whole planet's living in an Ice Age."

Aegir knew it hadn't always been, but his connection to his planet wasn't nearly as strong as it could have been; he was far more attached to planet Earth than planet Aegir rotating slow and cold and in the company of Saturn. Someday, I'll go again...

"You could always take diving equipment up with you? I mean, assuming that you've been diving before, or would know how to dive? Put out an APB for senshi or knights who are diving instructors in the civilian lives?" She selected half of her burrito as she spoke, soaking in some of the warmth of it before bringing it up to her lips to take a bite. It was incredible, flavorful enough to draw a soft, satisfied sound from her. She'd have to convince herself that these early morning meetings were worth it from time to time just to get Aegir to bring breakfast.

"Only because my cousin has insisted. He's-- Arsinoe, his home world, was once an archive of information. He's looking to rebuild what he and his people lost when the archives fell." There was no way of really knowing just how much had been lost, even with the memories that Sailor Arsinoe had regained. That being the case, there was only building and adding on information now and the best way to start was with mapping everything that could be explored and shared currently.

"This is amazing, Sunshine. Do you usually cook?" She questioned, casting him a glance before taking in another mouthful.

"I mean, I could try that...but I don't know how and my schedule's really packed as it is." Between his job, his senshi duties, and his hobbies and friends...he really did have a fairly packed life with very little true 'down' time. It was just enough to keep him moving most of the time, which was precisely the way he liked it. As fun as learning a new skill might have been, he'd have to drop something else to take it up.

Then again, it might just be worth it. They were talking about his planet, after all.

Corvus' obvious enjoyment of the breakfast he'd made broadened his own smile. "That's a really good idea though, I might give it a shot." Aegir added the information about her cousin - Arsinoe - to his mental catalog of senshi information. "He should get together with Knight Celsus, having that giant library and all. Actually, I should ask Celsus if he's got any Aegirean books in his care, come to think of it.

"I'm really glad you're enjoying it." He chuckled a bit and took another bite, chewing carefully before speaking again, "I do, actually. It was necessary in a family of carnivores. Ballet dancers actually eat more than you'd think, honestly. Aaaand....I also used to cook for my boyfriend, and he ate a lot so it came in handy." And in quantity. The maths that he'd learned during his years in school - which he never thought he'd need to use in the real world, thanks - had helped greatly with that sort of thing.

Corvus could feel a light flush rising to her face, her pale complexion taking on a rosy glow in the morning light at the mention of Celsus. She hoped it would go unnoticed, stuffing her mouth with another bite of the burrito while nodding in agreement. It would be wise for Celsus and Arsinoe to get together and compare what knowledge and information they each had; to make copies of the things currently stored on Arsinoe so that there were back ups in the event... If...

She swallowed hard as she lowered the burrito back down to its wrapper, staring off onto the trees. Nothing was going to happen-- not to Arsinoe, not to Celsus. She wouldn't allow it. Corvus was determined not to lose anyone else.

"I thought about it; how I could possibly balance life with being a senshi, if it was even possible to be normal. It... It wasn't an option for me. I couldn't. Not after..." Corvus could feel her heart pulling as she wrapped up the rest of her burrito for the moment, smoothing the foil before plucking at the edges of her skirt. "I stepped out of the social scene and took a job as a waitress. I've already given up who I was when this all started for me. It's good to know that there are still some people out there who are fighting to keep that balance and keep doing what they love."

Aegir couldn't help noticing the way his friend went pink, quick mind putting together that it was due to the mention of the Librarian Knight though he said nothing. If there was a crush there, or some sort of budding relationship, that was not his business (no matter how nosy he might have been). She was clearly not ready to speak about it, with how she was trying to avoid saying anything one way or another - but he hoped, very much, that if there were something going on, that it went well. While she was thinking, he inhaled half of his burrito, because it was delicious and honestly he ate a lot.

"It's hard, I mean...I was being really, really unhealthy for a long time. Just like, killing myself with it - but I found a better balance. It's still dangerous and difficult, but I'm doing pretty well. I don't think it would be possible for a lot of careers, honestly. I got lucky.

"And there's nothing wrong with being a waitress. I couldn't do it."

"Oh, I know that there's nothing wrong with being a waitress, but that doesn't mean that the person I was when a cat named Chloe gave me a pen that turned me into a magical girl would never have settled for a job as a waitress at an evening establishment that specializes in burlesque entertainment. It wouldn't have been socially proper." Her words were accompanied by a light laugh, head shaking slowly.

"If running around at night in a frilly skirt, corset and heels sets you up for anything in life, it's wearing ruffles a corset and heels to serve drinks to gentlemen who work with your father. At least I know they won't tell him where they ran into me, if only because it would mean admitting that they were there themselves." It was also one of the reasons why she didn't often pick up a week day lunch shift, preferring the evenings and the occasional Saturday or Sunday brunch show.

Aegir - as Colin - hadn't ever understood how one occupation could be shameful to another, but then his mother had been a very forward thinking woman. A great number of folks were not, and religious conservatism tended to breed into people a sense of classism and body-shame, so he supposed that was part of it.

He couldn't help shrugging a little, "I suppose my case was the opposite, my work helped me deal with my powered costume." Corvus had never seen it, but the senshi of silence's basic garb had been extremely revealing, especially on a boy. "Still..." It was kind of sad, wasn't it? That society could be so short-sighted like that.

It was why his beautiful, wonderful sister wasn't readily accepted. Why he'd fought bullies his entire life and would continue to fight against victimization throughout his career. Aegir squared his shoulders and let the thoughts roll off like a duck would water from it's oiled feathers; now was neither time nor place for such things.

"Those guys give you any trouble, you let me know, I'll come by and break their fingers. You look great in the costumes there, I know I've said it before but. It bears saying again."

"Fortunately, the Paw has some pretty strict rules when it comes to the behaviour of their patrons. I don't think I would have taken the job there if they hadn't." While it wasn't something that she advertised, either as Cordelia Carden or as Sailor Corvus, she had developed a vague aversion to touch. While she wanted, needed, to be around others, to surround herself with the lively and the living to chase away thoughts of war and decay, she had grown so afraid of letting them too close that certain kinds of touch made her skin crawl.

None the less, it was incredible to work in a place so open and accepting; filled with vibrancy, laughter and love of various forms of beauty.

"Speaking of, there's a show going on this weekend that I think you'll enjoy. I've put your name down on the guest list if you're free." As she spoke she wrapped the rest of her burrito back up so that it could be tucked away with the rest of their rations for later on in the trip. She dusted herself off, holding her hand back out to Aegir as she stood. "Ready, Sunshine?"

"Offer still stands." Aegir smiled sweetly, he had no issue with exacting violence on those that deserved it and would cheerfully have mangled someone's fingers for getting inappropriately handsy with his friend. Or anyone, really. It just wasn't to be done, nor tolerated.

"I'll check and see if I can. I don't know if I've got anything penciled in or not yet." He was endlessly busy - and purposefully so - it kept him from dwelling too much on being left alone. It was also just in his nature to be in motion and active. "Will you be working during the show or going to see it too?" Following Corvus' example, Aegir put away the rest of his breakfast and rose to his feet with her help, gloved hands clasped warmly together.

Green eyes sparkled with excitement, "Ready, Moonbeam."

"Working, more than likely. If I'm there on the busy nights I can afford to take more days off throughout the week for things like this." On good weeks, ones that had larger events and productions, she generally worked three nights on and took four off. It spread the tips around to all of the girls better that way and ensured that she had the time she needed for classes and patrol.

And days to escape...

Corvus gave Aegir's hand a squeeze before closing her eyes, directing her focus and thoughts away from work, away from Destiny City, away from everything that kept her tethered to Earth. Her thoughts drifted to the gentle breeze drifting through a courtyard surrounded by stone centuries old, filled with the smell of moss and damp earth. The air shifted around them, settling as they arrived on the Corvid homeworld.

"Welcome to Corvus." She smiled as she opened her eyes, letting her fingers slide free from Aegir's. They had traveled to a place forgotten by time, remembered by the Sailor who had done her best to tidy up the 'welcome area'. Debris had been swept away and cleared from the courtyard; a small, private place that once thrived with plantlife and a fountain that had long ago gone silent. It was a scene from a fairytale-- the Secret Garden it had reminded her of the most. A part of her longed to see it thrive again, needing it to live to inspire her to keep fighting on.
