I've been thinking about the 12th house recently.

Hidden enemies, fears, the subconscious...yes, all of that.

Does anyone else feel that instead of being troubled or held back by their 12th house, they are attracted to it and find themselves consciously seeking it out?

I have Aquarius in my 12th house, as well as Pisces moon and Jupiter. As I mentioned earlier, I am in love with all things Aquarian (then, who isn't? =P). Also I find that Jupiter plays a large part in my life and I am drawn to things like philosophy, travel, learning, etc, as well as having unnatural good luck. xp I don't have to tell you how important the moon is. Granted, those two planets are sitting right on top of my AC, so it's hard to draw the line.

Thoughts?

The 12th house is pretty important to me, since that's where my five planet stellium is - sun, moon, mercury, venus and jupiter (also very into philosophy - is aquarian jupiter where that comes from?). They're all in aquarius too (except the moon, which is in pisces like my ascendant) - so there's a huge personal planet influence from the 12th for me. I think it's even more concentrated because my planets are pretty much all within a third of the chart.

I don't know yet what to think about my 12th house influence. When I first looked at my chart and thought "hey, there are a lot of things there, I wonder what that house means" and looked it up to see "the house of self undoing, associated with prisons and mental institutions," I thought excellent, just my luck.

But I don't think it's as bad as all that. Since it's connected with pisces, sometimes I think that's where I get my imagination from (which I couldn't do without) - but that could also have come from the combination of 4 aquarian planets and a pisces moon/ascendant. Whenever I read a description of aquarius with pisces moon, it always fits me to a T, at any rate.

What I do know about the 12th is that, for me, it's kicked the social side right out of my aquarius. I'm extremely shy, I have a few close friends who I do stuff with, but otherwise I'm happiest at home, in my head. Fantasy and reality are just about as real to me as each other, and I'm pretty sure that's connected with the 12th.

Well, whatever it may mean, I think of the 12th house as a kind of safe zone - because of that connection with the subconscious and the internal.

My fiance is an Aquarius sun with Pisces moon...his mom is too. They are the two most wonderful people I know. whee You guys get the best of both worlds, IMO.

It's my theory that the 12th house represents what you need to complete yourself and that some people WANT that feeling and others are afraid of it, which is why people often call it the rubbish bin of the zodiac. Pisces in my chart (and yours) probably makes us more comfortable with it than we otherwise would be.

Alternatively, for me it could simply be that because there is no air in my chart (no planets anyway--12th house Aquarius and 3rd and 4th House Gemini) so I need to incorporate airiness into my life in general to feel balanced.

I thought it was probably the fact that I have so many personal planets in the 12th was what made it seem comfortable - with 5 planets there, including sun and moon, the house is bound to become a pretty large factor determining a person's nature. However, your theory is interesting as well.

So, how does it work? Is it a planet's placing in the 12th that indicates an area that needs work, or a sign?

Wow, two in one family? I've never met another one before. Do you find that the general description of an aquarius/pisces fits them?

1. Hmm. It's hard for me to say, because while I have two planets technically in the twelfth house, they DO sit right on my ascendant. (Like...right on. AC is 27* Pisces, Moon is 26* Pisces and Jupiter is 22* Pisces.) Honestly, though, I'd say it's both. Or, say, if you had Mars in your twelfth house, success, will, work, etc would be something you strove after in life because it was part of the lesson you needed to learn. Likewise, if you had Gemini ruling the twelfth house, you would be drawn towards learning and ideas and "airy" things because you needed them to transcend into a higher/more spiritual being...if that makes any sense. You having so many personal planets there, though, it's intriguing. I would be inclined to say that would suggest the focal point of your life being transcendance and exploring higher things, etc, based on what I'm thinking about the twelfth house.

2. His whole family is air signs, pretty much, I've never seen anything like it: his sister is a Libra, one of his brothers is a Gemini and the other is an Aquarius. I'm not sure what his dad's sign was (he passed away about eight years ago) but he fit the air stereotype pretty well: he was a journalist and then later translater, fluent in French, German, Russian, English and Swedish, very politically active, etc.

As for Aquarius/Pisces specifically, well, hm. Judging by this description from astrology-numerology.com:

Quote:
The combination of your Sun sign and your Moon sign produces a mind that is very original and able to grasp the most vague, ethereal and extreme concepts. The blend mixes friendliness, originality and independence of Aquarius with the emotional sensitivity and imagination of Pisces. You are a person who is naturally persevering and conscientious, being interested in detail, method and order. Your way of reacting to the world is very interesting. You can spend days just dreaming and speculating. You are fascinated by the unusual and the abstract, finding it interesting to take up studies in any number of bazaar topics. Loving to read and study, you may become very well informed on a wide variety of subjects. You lean heavily on your hunches and way out ideas, and you're easily distracted from routine work. You dream a lot and you have an utter faith in the dreams you dream. Your mind can get so far afield on some vaguely related tangent that you may even forget what the task at hand originally was. Your perceptions are so vividly acute that it is often not practical to pay attention to all of them. You live a private life of your own, into which few others ever penetrate. A keen imagination or a sort of mental vision allows you to be good money-maker in a variety of fields; you seem to be able to intuitively realize possibilities and take advantage of them. You success relies on talent and intelligence since you don't project a particularly strong leadership personality. There is a tendency for you to let things drift. At times you should display a more forceful will, but by and large you develop a very pronounced prudence and sense of caution. You can benefit in overcoming or controlling a tendency to accept things in a passive way, or in being too friendly and obliging if others incline to take advantage of your good nature.

That pretty much fits the fiance to a T, though he is definitely NOT a money-maker. He definitely has a sort of Piscean history of people taking advantage of his good nature--even with me, if we're having a spat that's by and large me being silly, he'll take the blame and insist that it's his fault and that he's a terrible boyfriend, etc. He's pretty imaginative and he lives in his own little world at times, though he's not private so much as he doesn't think it's important to spontaneously share it with others. He's also always looking to improve things and has a tendency to comment on something that he thinks could and should be better (Virgo rising there, though I do think Aquarius makes him go overboard and want to fix what ain't broke, so to speak.) And don't even talk to me about being easily distracted. xp He can be the king of the magpies sometimes.

On the whole he definitely embodies the common concerns and traits of Aquarius and Pisces, namely the well-being and good of others and general out-thereness.

His mother I don't know AS well. She initially struck me as Cancerish, though that's probably because she's a mother. xp She's also charitable after a Piscean nature (she's very open about gift-giving and money-lending) and extremely friendly with everyone, while my fiance is more withdrawn and introverted if he's around people he doesn't know very well. Her job is unusually dull, though--an accountant for some European broker firm. She also does some art stuff, where she finds rocks and then paints designs on them, following the natural shapes and swirls in the stone. I think that's much more fitting for her xp I'd suspect that she's a Taurus rising, though Cancer would fit as well.

Heh, that sounds pretty cool!

That description of aquarius with pisces moon is one of the things that most strongly said to me "Look at me, astrology works!" - It just fits SO well. I'm not a money-maker either, though - sometimes I think they put that in descriptions to cheer people up or something (I usually skip right over the business/financial section of most descriptions, I just find the stuff so boring). The description of the combination in Sydney Omar's sun, moon and you doesn't mention finances in any particular way, at least.

It's amazing how airy that family is. Is the atmosphere in the house reflective of that? And, she's an accountant?! That's not a profession I would have thought lended itself to aquarian/pisceans! But, if it works, then fair enough.

Yeah, they seem to throw the "good with money" thing around a lot. Exception for Taurus, Cancer, and Capricorn--those people I can say from experience ARE good with money, though perhaps the better term is good at hoarding. =P Pisceans are actually notoriously BAD with it.

I need to get that Sydney Omarr book sometime. After I read the rest of my astrology books.

I know, I knew her job before I knew her birthday, and then when I did up her chart I was like "wtf?" All of her personal planets are in air signs except her moon, and the only earthy (which is totally an "accountant" element to me) planet is Saturn in Virgo. She only does it part time, though. I suspect she'd rather spend more time painting rocks. =P

I only saw them all interacting together once (for the Gemini brother's birthday). They are all very chatty and witty and so on, especially the Gemini brother. Actually, the Libra sister works at an embassy, which amuses me to absolutely no end. Things weren't always so rosy; my fiance's childhood was very tough, he didn't get along with any of his family except his sister and also the Aquarius brother, the other one used to beat him up rather a lot and he and his mother had some issues not related to astrology as much as specific personal issues. Things are okay, now, though. He's especially close with his mother and sister and they get on very well. I also haven't met the Aquarian brother, as he is. erm. in jail. And will be for quite a while.

And of course they're all fluent in Dutch and English as well as their native tongue of Swedish. xp
