Life Hunter BATTLE ARENA General Information The portal opens up into an observation room, and down the stairs, an odd chamber for something like hunter training. At the center of a piranha-filled pool stands a solid stone table and several chairs. The Life Arena was built underneath the demolitions and ballistics testing areas, and the chamber rumbles with the occasional explosions above. Pinpoint red lasers sweep across the room regularly, as if hidden snipers are searching for a nice target. In the center of the table sits a wooden tower, made up of smaller wooden blocks. Yes. That's right. The Life Hunters prefer to train via Jenga.
Note: Distraction techniques and Yo Momma jokes are considered viable weapons when playing competitively.
If you fail: you have knocked down the tower! A small dart hits the back of your neck. You come to several hours later, and hope Dr. H didn't do anything to your body while you were unconscious. When you look into the mirror...
If you win: you have reached 50 points! You get a sharpie marker to do with as you please. peen points go to those with the highest scores.
Group Play Playing in a group on any course means certain things can be shifted to make it a better experience for multiple people without holding anyone back. An approved group play alteration for the life arena goes as follows: When someone knocks the tower down, they are shot with a weaker dart. They will wake up 5 minutes later, the game can be reset back to the point before it fell by placing their hands on the table and saying the word, constructum. This allows them to start again where they left off instead of the beginning. They can take up to three of these darts before passing out for an hour, the game will not reset for them and they will need to try again from the beginning.
Mechanics - by carefully removing pieces of the tower, you earn points and advance to the next round. As the rounds continue, the odds grow steadily against you. Rolling a 1 at any point means you have knocked down the tower. Please do enjoy your mystery dart. Anything after reaching 50 points is purely for peen.
- you may roll pieces individually (suggested for group play) or in batches of 5 (basically, a full round.)

Two missions in the Sahara. Two massive missions in the Sahara. That was what it took for Terry to finally get around to getting himself approved for runic gear. Or at least make the attempt to get approved. If only he would have been allowed to do these courses unobserved but that sort of defeated the point, wouldn't it? His sole consolation was that he wouldn't be alone.
"Did you choose this schedule or were you assigned to this time slot?" Terry asked the other hunter in his default monotone.

Despite his protests, someone had dragged him off and dropped him at the training grounds, citing something about training that he hadn't been assed to listen to.
Yawning, Zane rolled his shoulders back and blinked blearily at the man who approached him. "Think I was assigned, dunno. Maybe someone signed me up." He shrugged, hands pushing back his coat to slide into pockets.
"What's up with it? You know what we're supposed to do?" If he cared enough, he could have figured it out on his own, but the ginger didn't see the point because there was someone else to do the detective work for him.

As much as Terry would have wanted to be like the protags (alright some aspects of the protags) in the animes he'd watched, the Life Trainee absolutely hated going into things unprepared. Which was why there wasn't a hint of sarcasm in his voice or in his deadpan when he gestured with his arm at the empty table, "Ready, Steady, are ya," before resting his palm on the surface, "Time to play Jenga."
It wasn't the catch Time to Duel! cheer from Yugi-Oh and it was certainly longer than Beyblade's Let 'Er Rip but Terry felt he did it justice. Even with the complete lack of emotion or enthusiasm.

Zane's stare was blank, as slid into the seat across from the man who greeted him.
"Wait. Seriously?" His lips perused as he looked at the tower of blocks.
Lerna hummed at him. "Um. Okay." Zane put on his best game face as he went for an outer piece and pulled it out with ease.

"Good job," Terry said in monotone, taking a block from a steady portion of the tower. "It also appears that we can play competitively." he added. The stoic, almost blank look suggested Terry had no preference between competitive or casual play. Admittedly, he would prefer casual because his goal was to just pass be granted access to the runic tech.

His companion didn't seem very invested in the game and he wondered if he had been expecting to play this on his own. Which, he totally could have done, easily but it seemed silly to have training where he was doing it himself.
Then again, didn't practice make perfect.
"Yeah? Well, so far it looks like we're doing pretty good." Green eyes flicked up as he successfully moved another piece. "This is kids play though."

Terry's second attempt had the tower wobble a little and while his eyes widened in horror, the rest of him froze. Thankfully, he managed to pull the tile out and smoothly placed it on top.
"It should be easy at the start. Unless you decide to be terrible on purpose." Was that an excuse, a rationalization, a joke, or all three rolled into one? "So I can hopefully make a pun on my name about being Terry-ble."

As they both pulled pieces from the tower, Zane was forced to consider what he wanted to take and from where. He had to play it smart, couldn't rob himself of simple pulls later just to try and screw over his opponent.
He picked a piece and had to carefully extract it, nearly regretting his choice when he thought it might stick. In the end he was successful.
"Pft, like I would ever do that." No, Zane Walker came to win and succeed at everything he did. The pun made him wince and he frowned. "Bro, that was bad"

The edge of Terry's mouth quirked up ever so slightly. "Is your name pun-proof?" he asked, in his own way issuing a challenge on top of their current game of Jenga. He managed to pull a third tile and deftly placed it on top.

"Hardly," he grunted, working on another piece that he carefully tapped.
"Could say I get a little zane-y" It was not true at all, or in the least bit, but he went for the pun before it was jacked from him. It sounded horrible, but distracted him enough that he could focus on sliding the piece out and placing it atop the tower.

Terry quirked a brow at his opponent slash companion before his eyes set back on the gradually increasing tower. "Better zane-y than in-zane, yes? Some of the puns can leave you all Terry eyed." And it continued as the second to the last piece for the round was pulled and evenly placed.

It was time for the last piece in the first round and so far, Zane was pretty confident that he could finish the round off. That was a good sign.
Until Terry continued with his puns and he rubbed his eyes beneath his glasses with a groan. "You're encroaching on some bad terry-tory. Like come on man. At least be more creative."
The piece was removed with success and Zane felt pretty great about how this first round turned out. Status Round: 1Pieces Taken: 5 Total Points: 5

"I'm afraid I don't quite get what you're zayin'." Terry said with his usual monotone despite how clearly he was scraping the bottom of the pun barrel. But at least the last tile for this round of Jenga was pulled and done with.
"Round two, then?"

Grateful round one was over with no mishaps, Zane gave Terry his best I'm disappointed in you look. Rolling his shoulders back he stretched a few limbs to prepare for round two.
"Alright, here we go..." He mumbled, opting out of any more pun-related quips because he wasn't willing to scrape the bottom of the barrel like his companion. Not when he had a round to win anyway.Status Round: 2Pieces Taken: 1 Total Points: 8
