He had dug into Mik rather harshly the night before and wanted to talk to him about it. He'd been malicious and snapped back at him for no reason and when it wasn't justified.
That morning, he wandered the beach until he spotted the blonde and slowly approached him. "Hey. I...wanted to say I'm sorry...about last night."

Mikael just kept building his sandcastle as if he couldn't hear the other man.

"Okay. I guess I deserve the cold shoulder." He knelt down to look at the castle. He had heard his reasoning of imaging a happy family when he build them.
"I didn't mean to hurt you, but I'm sorry I did. I was out of line." He looked over at Mik. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Mik said matter of factly. "I'm always fine. It was nothing I didn't already think."
Except it had been fine when he'd felt like Melvin only had a problem with his dad, hearing how he spoke about Rodney hadn't been fine and hadn't made him feel good at all. He didn't want to talk about it though.

He stared back. "Is it really fine or are you doing that thing where you put on a face. I snapped at you. I really don't think that's fine, but I want to hear what you think."
He looked as a crab moved across the sand. "You said a lot of stuff last night."

"I'm fine." he said. "Literally fine. You said some mean things but my dad is Lawrence so I dunno what to tell you. I'm used to mean things, I don't feel them or anything."
He shrugged. "You were horrible about Rodney. I like Rodney. He's never done anything to anyone."

"He has done plenty. I was dating your father and he passed off blame when he ******** him under my nose. I wasn't told but walked in on them ******** in a tent. He and your father then booted me out and he made me out to be a evil icon of temptation. A corruption because I jepordized a weak mariage. He picks and choose accountability and what can and can't be forgiven when it suits him. He might even let Lawr get away with murder. Just because he flinches to violence doesn t mean he can't be a cruel son-of-a-b***h. Just because he talks softly and gently doesn't mean he isn't two-faced."
He stared back at him. "You can like him all you want but that doesn't mean I don't hate him."
"You do feel though. Lawr was and is a b*****d and you want pain with interest. You said it yourself last night."

Mikael gave Melvin a look that wasn't really certain. Rodney had always seemed nice to him, and even when things happened he seemed to try and make the right choices. Mikael didn't understand the gravity of ******** someone underneath someone else's nose, to him it just sounded like a kinky thing rather than a bad thing. Still he had a feeling it was more than that, he just didn't understand.
"Didn't you leave?" he said sadly. "I don't remember you being kicked out, I just remember you leaving. I remember that a lot."
He sighed. "Yeah. You hate a lot of things. What things do you even care about any more?"
He frowned a little at the final question. "I said a lot of things last night. I love my dad."

"I needed a moment outside of the house. I left the house but I wasn't leaving for good. I even said that. I said I needed a moment. I left my things in my room. I wanted distance to give me some perspective and to clam down. I couldn't process anything while I was there. It was too much. Okay?"
"I still care about people, Mik. I care about people living and surviving and trying to make the fact we all gave up our past lives for something we believed in at one point to actually mean something rather than to feel like a throwaway. I want people to be like that too. I want so much for people to just - be like the home I had that I left behind."
He slowly sat down. "If you want something more simple. I like fishing and swimming. I like holidays. I like aliens, hockey, sci-fi and cats. Just because I hate being lied to over and over when I put my feelings into someone doesn't mean I hate the whole world. But yeah, I'm a bitter pissed off person. I've got a lot of hate in me, but that's not JUST me."
Breathing out, he stared out into the water and back at him. "Your dad left you and your mom like he probably left plenty of people. He wants your years and is jealous of you because you are young. He killed your sister. What part of that do you love?" He said, looking over at him.
"Why are you even lying right now? For show? What changes if you just say it? I know what i heard."
