On the whole, Ever wasn't the kind of guy who took people under his wing. He liked newbies, even liked being there to help when he could -- but somehow, even as social as he was, he'd never seen himself much as the teacher type. He wasn't a good influence on people. He didn't know as much as other people did.

His interactions with trainees, as a result, were relatively limited. Friendly, but not close. So it was strange that he found his way through the infirmary in search of this particular lost lamb, both hands shoved down into his pockets as he paused in the doorway and shot a look toward where Zeke was maybe working.

Instead of heading that way, Ever flagged down someone else to find out which room Chase was in (which was a trick, since he'd never actually gotten the kid's name) and wound his way to his door, looking uncomfortable.
