Luc had fallen asleep on the couch with a book and Sumi curled up against his side. They'd both been putting in extra work lately-- Sumi with his newly awakened Senshi charge and Luc with the extra time he'd been putting in at work and with checking in on his cousin.

On top of that, thunderstorms had been rolling along the east coast on and off throughout the week. It had limited the amount of time he'd spent out patrolling, both with the members of the Phoenix brigade and with Sailor Arsinoe. Staying cooped up inside for too long had made him restless, and he knew there was only so much more pacing around that Luc would be willing to put up with before he tossed him out of the apartment.

He leaned over the edge of the couch, shifting the throw blanket up over Luc's shoulders pausing in the kitchen long enough to leave a short note for the other man before slipping out into the night. The rain had cooled the day off, breaking the humidity at least until dawn. Drops fell from nearby buildings and gutters, the worst of the rain having passed into a barely there drizzle.

Arin made it a few blocks away from home before powering up, drawing the bright warmth of Mag Mell over him to become the Cosmos Knight. Once he'd done so he sent a message out, uncertain as to whether or not it would be received... Or responded to, in the event that it was.

To Sailor Arachne: I hope all of this rain hasn't washed the spider away. I would like to talk to you. I'll be in the park for a bit.

He had just finished dropping Thisbe off near her apartment knowing she would need a bit more rest than him after dusting a couple youma. It was good practice and it felt good to work with her again. It made things easier and it felt a bit more like home. He should have powered down and taken the bus or called an uber to take him home but something kept him powered up for a bit as he made his way back across town.

When his cell phone vibrated he paused, one foot hanging off the edge of a building he'd been about to drop from. The sensation was odd and he'd almost forgotten about the thing. The message he found when he pulled it out was more unexpected.

Arachne hadn't figured the Cosmose knight would want to talk to him again.

That was a book that needed to be closed though. One that had to be finished before he could actually get anywhere else no matter how much he wished he could just ignore it. With a sigh he pocketed the phone before changing direction and heading toward the park.

The sidewalks had almost dried by the time he arrived, just the trace of a darker tint giving away the rain that had poured on them, and he wandered down along the sidewalk along the more empty half of the park.

He hadn't wandered far into the park, avoiding the areas that he generally patrolled on his own as well as a spot or two that he knew Sailor Corvus could often be found. Not wanting to chance a run-in with anyone other than his intended powered individual, Mag Mell had drifted towards a spot that would have been more familiar for the two of them.

At the far end of Destiny City's primary park was a small lake and it was on a bench facing that lake that the Cosmos knight had made himself comfortable. He'd unhooked his cloak to spread it out over the bench before taking a seat, glad that the fabric seemed to be keeping things dry enough. It was a good thinking space; peaceful for the time being, with many of the animals that generally found their way around during the day gone to rest for the night.

He honestly had no idea if the Senshi of Spiders would get his message, or if the other man would even find his way here in the event that he had. He just knew that he would at least wait things out for a fair amount of time before heading home again himself.

Arachne wandered along the path for a bit before taking the turn that hooked toward the pond. He knew there were places other senshi patrolled and he had a feeling that if Mag Mell was here somewhere he was going to avoid those places. The lake though was usually empty so if the knight wanted to have a private conversation that woudl be a good enough place to have it.

Part of him was expecting to not find the knight, that it was some sort of trick, but as he left the saftey of the trees he saw a stock of silvery hair and the broad shoulders of the knight.

"You know. If you're trying to be discrete sitting around under a practically full moon when you're that bright isn't a good idea." He paused a few paces behind the bench rather than walking all the way around.

"If I wanted to be discreet I would have checked to see if you had the same telephone number and sent you a text to meet me somewhere public during the day. Or I would have talked one of the cats that I know into coming along with me and dimming down the energy I put off." He tilted his head back, glancing over his shoulder to where the other man was standing.

"Honestly, we're both less likely to get attacked by anyone other than each other out in the light like this... And I've been trying not to spend as much time hiding away in the darkness anymore." He shrugged his shoulders lightly, flashing the other man a soft grin as best he could.

"Going to join me?"

"I should say something about you getting a nice cloak like that dirty and wet..." He walked over, fingers running over the fabric for a moment, before looking at the Knight again. "But it will be clean and dry next time you put it on anyway." It wasn't like their clothes could stay dirty or damaged for long. Which was a good thing given all the youma dust they could get on them not to mention their own blood.

He wasn't quite sure he wanted to sit down just yet though. At least not until he knew exactly why the Knight had asked him to join him.

"Better the cloak than all of the white, don't you think? Cloaks are supposed to keep your clothes dry and clean anyways." He touched on the mystical, magical aspect of their attire as well and that was, honestly, the main reason why he didn't worry more about what happened to his white knight apparel. None of the grass stains from their last waterside tumble had lingered, after all.

"You don't have a whole lot of white to worry about yourself. Must make things interesting-- probably a little bit confusing for whoever you might run into." For Senshi like Arachne and Corvus he was certain that was the point; just enough visible white amidst all of the shadows of midnight to throw things off and leave questions.

"Thanks... For meeting me here tonight," he added on after a moment, looking to the other man briefly once more before looking out over the lake again.

"It's not as useful as you'd think, most spot the power signature before anything else so they already know what side I'm on." Except, apparently, little Lovejoy. She still seemed to think he was on her side somehow and for the moment he didn't have any reason to correct her on it. It would be easier to get her to change sides if she thought ht was her 'master' anyway right?

He shook his head slightly so he could focus back on what was actually in front of him. "It has it's uses though but I doubt you asked me to meet you so we could talk over the finer points of fashion and color schemes."

"No, I didn't,even if debating the workings of magically appointed fashion is far more fascinating than I might have originally though." A light smirk turned the corners of his mouth up as he watched the other man for a moment longer before shifting to sit comfortably again. He wasn't going to put a strain on his neck and shoulders just to keep eye contact with Arachne if the other man was going to insist on looming behind him instead of coming around to the other side of the bench.

"Thought I'd get out while there was a break in the weather. There's just enough static still lingering in the air that I can't sit still-- thought if anyone would understand that you would. We didn't exactly leave off on the best of terms last time... Or any of the times that we've left off, really." He snorted softly as he leaned back, tilting his head towards the stars.

"Magical clothing is more useful than one would think first hearing about it." Now if only his real clothes could survive the things this outfit had, that would be fantastic. Artfully distressed was one thing but torn was another. "Even so does make me wonder why there's so much white going around. You'd think the cosmos would know breathing on it would get it dirty."

He walked around the bench and a bit closer to the pond. He wasn't sure he wanted to sit next to Mag Mell, not after everything, but he wasn't enough of a d**k to keep loitering around behind him.

"Bad habit for us to have, don't you think?" He wanted to say it was Mag Mell's fault, blame how the knight had worded things on how their last encounter went down. Saying that would just make things worse again though.

"Terrible habit. Not one of my worst, but not a good one either." That slight smirk was still lingering on his lips, although it didn't quite make it the whole way up to his eyes. He remained silent for a moment before shifting to stand, figuring that if Arachne wasn't going to sit down he'd at least put the two of them back on the same field.

"I owe you an apology." He cast a glance at the Senshi of Spiders before looking out over the lake again. "My memories are still pretty scrambled when it comes to a lot of what happened after I was recruited into the Negaverse. I'll never get the memories of what happened while I was Richterite back, but I've pieced together enough about Rik that I know I wouldn't have made it as far as I did without you. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be a better person for you-- a better friend, or boyfriend. I was drowning and I didn't want to pull you down with me. You had your own issues, but you were never anything other than supportive."

He looked over for a moment when Mag Mel joined him, half expecting the Knight to keep his seat, before looking out at the water again. The other man's words were surprising. Probably because he was still kind of a jackass he wouldn't have been able to apologize like that.

Given what Rik went through he's probably used to having to apologize. He thought to himself before pushing a chunk of hair behind his ear.

Letting out a slow breath he looked over at the Knight again. "It's not your fault I'm pretty sure the universe is determined to not let me have a happy relationship." There was a slight smirk on his lips. "But you could have told me who you were a bit better, so thank you. I'm ... getting over it. And you seem like you're in a much better mood than you were last time."

"You're the first person that I've told on my own, so it's not something that I'm all that used to." The were only two other people who had known him in his life as Rikard Colby that still new him now. Cordelia had been there the night he'd purified and then she'd been the one to break the news to Lucien first.

"A lot of this is new to me... And I also think you're giving the Cosmos too much credit, and probably looking in the wrong places for happy relationships." A light smirk touched his lips as he cast a sidelong glance at the other man. "Sometimes you also learn a lot more about yourself by not being with someone for a while."

He shook his head as he brought a hand up to run fingers through his hair, letting his hand rest on the back of his head for a moment. "When I started to try and find myself again, before everything happened leading up to the side swap, I thought about you. I thought about how you always seemed to live for yourself and enjoy the moment and how disappointed you would've been to find out I'd just been spending too much time cooped up in my flat hiding from the world."

"I had a whole five years of looking in what should have been much better places than I was as a teenager." He looked over at Mag Mel for a moment before shaking his head. "Besides. You can't fight who or what you're attracted to. Never end up happy that way, you'll just be settling."

There was no point in trying to go after 'good' guys. He knew what his type was and he knew what sort of person he liked being with. It just meant he wasn't likely to ever find something more than a temporary thing.

"If I'd been around I'd have been dragging you out so there wouldn't have been anything to be disappointed in. You just might never have had a reason to join the right side then."

"I'd like to think that I wouldn't have been able to keep things hidden from you forever-- you would have found out and you would have helped me make the decision I came to anyways." His hand dropped from his hair as he looked to the other man again.

"You did what you could for me, L-- Arachne. You looked out for me and I was too much of a mess to be properly grateful for it then, but I just wanted to let you know that I am grateful for it now... So thank you."
