Bows, bows, bows. Lottie had a huge order to make, and while she was super glad that her etsy was starting to actually bring some money in for her…making forty bows might just end up being the death of her, or something.
She had already run out of ribbon three times, and now she was on her way back from the craft store once again, swinging the plastic bag full of new ribbon and glitter and rhinestones as she walked. Honestly, she had bought more supplies than she needed, because she had some…well. She thought that they were epic new designs for some bows that she desperately wanted…so.
Charlotte was so deep in her own thoughts that she didn’t see the green haired ruffle clad girl until she ended up walking right into her, and falling back onto her butt, giving a little squeak of surprise.
“Oh! Oh gosh, I’m sorry I was thinking about…”
She looked up at the girl, mouth agape. “You’re so pretty! And that outfit is amazing! My sister would love that so much, where did you end up finding that? And that bow in your hair…who made it? It’s flawless!”
Moving to push herself up, the girl leaned on the bag that held her supplies. There was the sound of straining plastic, then a small popping sound, and a small puff of glitter escaped the bag. “Oh…oh no.”
Well. There went the glitter.

Xenia normally paid more attention than she was right at that moment, really. She was just...distracted, with thoughts of her possible future, of what she could do right now to make herself look better to the Negaverse and to Wavellite. Fighting youma was definitely right out as a thing for her to do, but...ah.
So she was completely distracted when someone else bumped into her, and she spun and gasped, a little guiltily.
“Oh no, are you okay?” She asked, feeling utterly terrible. Here she was, vagueing out, and she knocked some poor civilian over.
She was used to her outfit getting at least a little attention. She was, after all, kind of a mess of cutesy ruffles and bows, and sure, she was old enough to want to be taken a little more seriously, but it did look pretty cute, generally.
“Uh,” she said, because she was an elegant speaker, really, and she completely had every bit of her s**t together. “The outfit was a gift, so I don’t know who made it, I’m sorry!” That was not a lie. It was not the entire truth, but it was not a lie.
“Do you need some help?” She offered a hand. “Is, um, your bag okay?” It didn’t look like it.

Charlotte sighed and looked into the bag, giving another long sigh when she realized that not only did she lose the glitter that had caught her eye in the store, but that everything was now absolutely covered in it. “Well…it really is cute, and I’m okay, yeah. I just broke some glitter and now it’s on everything…the bag’s fine I think, just…everything’s messy. It’s like a killed a fairy or something.” The girl withdrew a glitter covered hand and held it out for Xenia to see, then laughed a little. “At least it’s pretty, right?” One by one she began to draw out the supplies she had bought, shaking glitter off each in turn, until the bag was empty. At least, until it was empty of all she had bought. “What the heck is this? I only bought one kind of glitter I thought…” Reaching into the bag, Charlotte took hold of the small glass jar of glitter, and when she did a warmth spread throughout her body and her own clothes changed, leaving a page of cosmos in the place of the teenager that was sitting there. For a minute, she blinked. “Wh-what just happened…?” This was…this was not normal.

Xenia frowned. It looked like a terrible mess, and she started to kneel down to help clean it up - she’d partially caused it, after all, it sort of seemed like she ought to help out.
“God, and you’ll be cleaning up the evidence forever,” Xenia said lightly. That certainly was a whole lot of glitter, and Xenia prayed that if it got on her,. It would go away when she powered down. “But yeah, prettiest murder scene I’ve ever seen.” She laughed a little herself.
She also took half a step back, just to get clear of any flying sparkles.
“I..” She started to say something, and then stopped. Because. Oh, god. “Oh, wow, uh. You’re. Magical, now. That’s. Oh.” She looked left and right for any sign of a cat, but nope, no dice, which meant that this was….proooobably not a Senshi like her? Maybe?
Her face lit up as it sank in.
“You’re magical now. Like me!”

“I’m…magical now? What?” Dinara stood up, brushing what glitter she could off of her…her dress…and her…thigh high…strappy…shoes? And elbow length gloves…what the heck was going on here? The small bottle of glitter that caused all of this was still clutched tightly in one hand and she looked at Xenia rather helplessly. “What do you mean I’m magical? You’re magical? What do you mean by that? I don’t…nobody’s ever told me that this could happen…is it a disease? Or were we abducted? Are there aliens here?”
The page was staring at the other girl with wide, frightened eyes and her breathing had sped up to the point that there were small spots of darkness at the corners of her vision. “What the heck is going on, why did my clothes change…and why do you…” She took a step back from Xenia and promptly fell back on her bum, wincing slightly from the impact. “You…I feel you. You’re like…I don’t know what it is…but I feel you. Oh my God that sounds so deranged! I’ve utterly lost my mind I just wanted to make some bows…”

“Hey, whoa, whoa, it’s okay!” Xenia extended her hands, hoping to offer some form of soothing...anything. “No aliens, not a disease, nothing like that. Just....magical girls exist and are a real thing, and I’m one, and I’ve been one for about a year, and now you’re one too.” God, it had been a year; just after she’d turned thirteen she’d become Xenia, and now she was fourteen.
She offered a hand to help Dinara up, feeling terrible. She was not, exactly, making for the best introduction into being a...whatever this girl had become. Not a Senshi. Something else, because she didn’t feel like a Senshi.
“I’m Sailor Xenia.” She said, trying to keep her voice calm and even. “You’re...something else, you’ll have a magical name. The new clothes are like your superhero uniform, y’know? So people won’t recognize you when you’re out kicking butt. You haven’t lost your mind, you’re feeling my magical aura. It’s how you’ll be able to identify other magical people and whether they’re friend or foe. I promise, you’re not crazy, and I’m not crazy.”

Dinara tried to calm herself and when the…when the other magical…girl…held her hand out to help her up, she took it, eyes still wide and rather fearful. Though, now that her questions were being answered at least…sort of…it did sound kind of exciting. “So…you’ve done this for a year? We…that’s kind of cool…I’ll have a different name? I…”
She stood up, brushing herself off and looking down at the ruffled dress that she was wearing, the fear in her eyes slowly being replaced by excitement. “So…So I’m a super hero now? That’s…That’s really cool! Really, really cool! Scary, I think…but cool!”
She had a magical name? A magical…name… “I don’t know, Sailor Xenia…but the word Dinara keeps floating around my head kind of…do you think that could be my magical name? What do we do? Are there bad guys? Are we really, seriously super heroes? That’s so…so cool.” Her eyes were sparkling now and Dinara reached up, adjusting the glasses on her nose. “You…do you want to be friends?” Clearly this girl who had been at this for a whole year knew what she was doing, and would be able to help her out as well!
Clearly they were meant to be friends.

Xenia smiled, broadly. She could see the shift in the other girl’s face, the moment it stopped being terrifying and started being what it was - unique and special and magical. She nodded along, and didn’t bother hiding her own excitement.
“Yeah, you’re a superhero now. It’s really, really awesome.” She said. It was….something special, to get to experience this with someone for the first time. Part of her wanted to hug the other girl and spin her around, but in practical terms she was too small to do that with...just about anyone, ever.
“That might be it! Dinara, that’s a really pretty name.” Bright, somehow, just like her. “There are...kind of bad guys.” Xenia bit the inside of her cheek, briefly, before considering how to lay it out. “People will tell you that Chaos - they’re like us, but they wear a lot of black, and they’ll feel different - are the bad guys, but...they’re not, not really.” Wavellite certainly wasn’t some villainous caricature. “And I’d love to be friends!”

“So...So there are bad guys...I was kind of afraid of that…” Dinara blinked as Xenia continued to speak of who the bad guys were. “So...Chaos isn’t the bad guys…? That sounds like a pretty bad thing...you know, ‘cause normally Chaos is bad just by default in some situations...but I’ll take your word for it!”
Clearly this girl knew a lot more than she did, so it was wise to listen to her, at least wise to try and listen to her. “Well...if we’re friends...do you want to come over and help me make some bows? You can tell me everything that you know about all of this magic stuff...I’m kind of nervous, but really, really excited now too so…”
She paused, once again looking down at her outfit. “...So...do I get to keep these clothes? How do...what happened to what I was wearing before…?”

Xenia nodded. “Some of them are kind of bad,” she said, “but I know at least one who...really isn’t.” She sighed, fondly, thinking of Wavellite and picnics and soft kisses, and then she blushed, realizing she probably sounded as sappy as she was feeling. “Um, but! Yeah, just because it sounds bad doesn’t mean it is? I guess.”
The offer was sweet, and clearly genuinely meant, and Xenia nodded eagerly. “I’d love to, but you’ll have to walk me through.” She said. “And I’ll teach you everything I know, I promise!” It was...exciting.
“You get to keep the clothes, but only when you’re powered up. To go back to normal, just...think about it.” She explained, and then took a breath and demonstrated, letting her Senshi uniform fade away. “Hi,” she said, extending a hand, “I’m Hayley.”

Dinara watched as the ruffles and bows and adorableness melted away, leaving a kid just like her. It was...it was so strange. “So...I mean. I guess...I guess this really is magic...how...how strange. I…” She drew in a breath and thought about herself. Thought about nerdy Charlotte, and before she knew it, her own white rainbow dress had melted leaving the clothes she had on before. “That is kind of...kind of really freaky, but I love it at the same time.”
Her eyes were shining behind her thick glasses and she pushed those up the bridge of her nose. “So...so...yeah! I’ll help you make all the bows you want okay? This is so cool! I’m Charlotte...but a lot of my friends call me Lottie, so you can call me that too. Do you want to come over right now? I’m sure my parent’s won’t mind if I have a friend over, and I’m sure they’d let you stay the night if you wanted to...I mean they’re always encouraging me to meet new friends and things like that so…”
She swallowed. Of course they were, she was such a loner but...still. This girl had already said she would be her friend, and there couldn’t be any take backsies in friendships, right?
...Clearly this was a very good thing. Even if the magic part was really, really strange...she was sure that Xenia...no, Hayley would help her figure it all out. She reached out and shook the offered hand, still grinning brightly.
