Physical Description: Mikhel's eyes are narrow, deep set and darkly framed, though light brown in color. He has near-black hair, longer and curling, and dark stubble. He is a little above average height, with broad shoulders, but not as hulking as some of his older brothers.
Personality: Mikhel isn't necessarily good under pressure. Or rather, he doesn't like it. He prefers low stress situations and dislikes conflict. He'll do what needs to be done, and usually do it well, but the life and death aspect of his job still terrifies him. Similarly, in a dangerous situation, he will act calm and rational, but on the inside he's freaking out. He gets through things by simply tuning everything out. He'll focus on a single task and not think about anything else until it is done.

Nonetheless, Mikhel is reliable and good in a pinch. He'd never abandon a situation just because it is difficult or stress-inducing for him. Because of his focused nature, he is very good at getting a particular thing done, just give him something to work on and he's there, doing whatever it takes to finish the task, but often leans on his twin to deal with the bigger picture stuff when he just can't handle so much at once.

Mikhel was always a serious child, a hard worker, and seemed to inherit none of the carefree nature of his younger siblings. Rather, he tended to care too much, worrying about many things that others would simply sweep under the rug. He feels a lot of responsibility for his brothers, which is a constant source of anxiety for him. Especially now in the wake of thread, it seems like the dangers facing them have doubled over what they were before. This can make him a bit of a killjoy sometimes, but he doesn't do it to be mean. He really just wants to best for his brothers, and to keep everyone safe. Something he's actually pretty good at when it come down to it, as he's always thinking of different scenarios and planning ahead.

When it comes down to it, Mikhel loves his family, and would do anything for them. He's a kind person at his core, who wants to help and heal and loves that part of his job because of it. Though tightly-wound, he isn't unfriendly, he just has a calmer energy. He's good with kids and good bedside manner.

History: Mikhel was born at a small mining hold beholden to Nabol, a distant relative of the Lord Holder. Though they were far from wealthy or important, this did at least save them from some of the harder jobs in the area. They weren't free to pursue their dreams, but each of them at least got a craft, most taking up blacksmithing under their father, and weren't forced to go down into the mines like so many other children in the Hold. Though he had no real love of the craft, not being one to kick up a fuss, Mikel just took to blacksmithing like his brothers had. However, when Mikhel was just a few turns into his apprenticeship, the Hold happened to need a healer, and his father put him forward for the position. The old healer had died, leaving only two young journeymen to take his place (the small Hold was unlikely to attract any from further afield).

Suiting his studious nature far better than smithing, Mikhel took to the craft well, walking the tables as a general healer, before continuing to study in his chosen specialty. Though they weren't the oldest in the family by a long shot, by the time Mikhel and Xanael were 16, two of their next oldest brothers had been Searched to be riders, and the other joined a mercenary guard, leaving the younger two feeling responsible for the rest of their siblings.

This feeling only increased after their mother died, followed shortly by the Lord Holder, heralding in a new wave of chaos through the Hold. It was then that their father revealed a secret, admitted to on her death bed, though a part of him had always known. The woman had been having an affair with the Holder. And there was a good chance his youngest 'sons' were not his. While the sons of the Holder were rowing for leadership of the Hold, their older brother, who had been working as a guard for the youngest son, caught wind that he was plotting a coup. Afraid that the younger boys were in danger if their identity was found out, Mikhel and Xanael were ordered take them as far from the Hold as they could go.

Their older brother, Ha'el, had kept in touch despite impressing a dragon, so they made for the coast, hoping the boys would be safe with him in Western. Unfortunately, another kind of chaos was soon to descend on Pern. And just as their ship was setting out from the port, thread began raining down from the sky. The seaside town was devastated. The ship turned back, and Mikhel spent the next month or two just tending to the wounded from the first Fall.

Since then, the brothers have been stuck. The price of passage tripled in the wake of thread, and there were no refunds for their incomplete journey. They stayed along the coast, moving around to throw off those that might be following them, while both Mikhel and his twin worked to save enough money to buy their way to Western. Since leaving, their old Hold has become a black zone of information. It still produces, sending regular tithes to Nabol, but no messages or flitts have made it out with news of how things are going otherwise.

Recently the brother finally made enough to resume their jouney and continued on to Western continent. They're currently bound for the Weyr where they hope to meet their brother, if he's still alive.

My only concern is this "black zone of information" concerning the minor Hold on Nabol. Was that in reference to what your character would know, or what Gansley would know?
