She was pretty sure she'd found him. The hunter that had helped the dead trainee. Fairly certain it was him, anyway. She had to make sure he was okay, and make sure her mistake in letting the bugs get the trainee hadn't left him dead. Sherry had asked around - given his description to friends in the infirmary and they'd given her a name. The name had led her here, to this door. So she knocked on it, and waited. and be blue He can be in his own room or somewhere in what's left of the infirmary, up to you!

The office he was working in now was little bigger than a closet -- the consequences, perhaps, of being off base for the better part of a year. It was also something of a mess, with books and notes piled on the very small desk in the corner, Ever's laptop set to one side, out of the way. In order to get the door, to crack it open, to see who had come a searching, Ever had to climb over a couple boxes and hold his breath. There probably wasn't room for her to come in, but he could stand in the doorway with his glasses pushed up into pale hair and a thoughtful expression spreading over his face as he took Sherry in. "...hey. How are you doing?"

Sherry looked at him, her first order of business to try and gauge his well being. He looked well enough. From where she stood thing in his office seemed small, so she was content to ask her question from where she stood. "I'm as well as I can be, I've been worse. How are you, though?"

Ever made a wobbling little gesture with one hand, just faintly amused as he looked down at her. He did look well enough, mostly recovered, leaning easily in the doorway. He was back at work, even, and that had to say something -- "Did I seem that fragile?" He shook his head the tiniest bit as he asked, eyes still bright with that flicker of something teasing, and something dry behind his tone. "Everyone seems to be so concerned that I might have dropped dead..."

Sherry saw the amusement, and had to smile a little bit. Good, she wasn't the only one checking up on him. That always made her feel better. "No," she said with a shake of her head, "you don't seem that fragile. I was worried though. That trainee you were helping... he was infested with bugs." She couldn't hide the sadness on her face at that. "I had to make sure you ended up alright even though he..." Sherry let the sentence fall. "You made it back alright? No bites or anything?" You could never be too sure.

"I got stung, sprained my wrist just a bit, but my boyfr --" The word was half out before Ever even could pause and think, and the second he realized it was coming he choked on it. The result was a long moment of silence, blinking down at Sherry slowly, his mind whirling. It meant he forgot about Chase and the strange attacks and his fingers just tightened around the doorframe. That was not a word Ever used. He licked his lips, slowly, trying to unstick his train of thought and continue the conversation, but now he looked a bit awkward, and the words came out stilted. "It was all taken care of."

Sherry's gaze had immediately gone to one wrist, then the other (or at least in the general area of where they should be), just to make sure they looked ok. Then her eyes looked back at his, her eyebrows slightly raised. He'd been about to say something, and she wondered why he stopped. Secret boyfriend? Or maybe not official? Of course she could be assuming wrong, but she was sure it was rude to ask, at least when she didn't really know him well. "That's good," she said slowly. "I was worried," she went on, because the silence was awkward, "that you'd been too close to some bad bug. So it's good that it was all taken care of." She was quiet for a moment. "So you do have someone watching out for you? That's always good to hear." Someone who can watch for bug symptoms, or just all the time. She always worried about the loner hunters.

At the moment, one of Ever's wrists was bare -- skinny and awkward, still, a bit smaller than it should have been, wrapped very loosely in an ace bandage. The other, however, was wrapped in a thick leather cuff with a heavy d-ring hanging off one side. It looked less like a bracelet and more like a restraint. He didn't shuffle it out of sight as she looked, however, just blinked down at her thoughtfully and considered his words. "...frankly, right now, I'm more concerned about you. You assaulted another hunter, and he's still in the infirmary, I believe." It was gentle, at least, without the sting of any true accusation. He shook his head just a little, dark eyes taking her in. "Have you...settled, some?"

Sherry was already beginning to frown with some concern. Mostly over the ace bandage. Ever's words caused her to blink up at him in some small surprise. "In the infirmary?" Her mind raced with the implication. Her heart tried it's best to keep up. "He..." she paused for a moment trying to organize her thoughts. "He was infested with bugs. That's why I attacked, that's why I was worried about you. The infirmary has him, though?" She paused, forcing herself to calm down. The infirmary would be the best place for him. They'd do what they could, they'd do what they needed to. "I have, I'm fine." Her gaze moved to the door frame. "I think. It's always tough after the Sahara. Especially when the bugs get trainees."

Ever hesitated over that, his eyebrows knitted and eyes raking over her in a thoughtful sort of way. Something about her expression certainly made him sure Sherry believed what she was saying, and maybe that was scarier than the alternative. Her earnest nature made him, honestly, just a little bit uncomfortable. "He wasn't infested with anything. Just a bit injured." It was the way he'd have talked to a spooked horse, maybe, gentle, but with something a little nervous behind it. Idly, he toyed with the ring on his bracelet. "Have you seen someone, since you got back?"
