Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr

Previous Rank/Craft: Heir to Fairburn Hold
Physical Description: Darcir stands a solid 6'0" with fair, pale skin. A thick mop of dark black hair has been tossed upon his head, the locks long enough to reach past his waist with ease. It's always brushed and often tied loosely with a ribbon or cord. Thick eyebrows overshadow a long-lashed gaze, the envy of many a woman. His eyes harbor little light or amusement, and his dark-hazel gaze often stings others with serious ferocity. Paired with thin, pale lips that are carved in to a endless, unwavering scowl, and a delicate and sharp nose, Darcir is a model of an aloof beauty. Everything about him has become sharply chiseled and pointed with age; there is nothing soft about this beautiful man. Though covered in clothes, D'cir is not an overly strong or physically imposing man. He's thin, too thin really, and takes great care to ensure he never over-eats.
The young man is spoiled in the fashion department and prefers to the fineries of life. He often sports cool tones as his attire - rich blues and dark blacks and greys, set off by creams, whites, and occasionally gold. Many find him impractical in his attire, or at least far too formal. He's almost always in what some might think is Gather Best, and Faranth forbid him to think of wearing anything less suitably so.
Personality:
For all his achievements in the appearance department, Darcir's attitude is seemingly beyond repair. As the eldest in a small but prosperous cot-hold outside of Tillek Hold, it is no surprise he could be considered spoiled rotten. And rotten is indeed what many find his personality to be - a proud sort to be sure, who doesn't know the definition of fun.
Though he himself takes pains to keep up his appearance he harbors a great vanity, or at least great pride. When he looks at himself all he can see are the flaws; he'd give anything to fix them, and has a rather unhealthy idea of beauty. It's been bred in to him that appearances mean everything and, according his family, is where his only true talent and potential lies.
D'cir also harbors a strong work ethic. Laziness and idle hands are not permitted in his company, and he often fidgets if commanded to do nothing - deep down, he's a class-A workaholic! Though he doesn't often do much physical labor (at least before he was searched), there were records to study, archives to memorize, business to attend. To see one idling their life away and spending moments doing nothing is but a waste of energy and potential - those that get caught up in dreams and fantasies should be properly scolded and shown some work to do! There is no such thing as 'play'. . . at least not when one grows of age to be of real use to a family.
A hardened spirit, the man rarely smiles or finds much joy in anything - what is joy but a distraction to the work at hand? Though he often keeps to his own council, he isn't completely unsociable - just a bit out of practice. If one truly looked they would find a shy man who doesn't easily speak with strangers, a man whose serious countenance isn't made up completely out of vanity or belief that he is somehow 'better' than another, but by insecurity. Though quite serious and grave, around the small few he does trust, he is loyal and generous to a fault.
Though he'd work himself to death on a project, he would also be the first to take time to help those most dear to his heart, regardless of the conflict of schedule to his own plans and ideas. He harbors no obvious temper, though he's stubborn and long carries a grudge against those that slight him. And deep down, he feels passionately about many a thing - such as music and art and all things beautiful.
If one believes him to be without hope for change, they need only catch him alone with his little green fire-lizard or dragon, Dionyth. The way he spoils both Liu and Dionyth with attention and tender-care proves he isn't without a heart. It's just difficult to get close enough to him to see past his serious facade.
D'cir also has a soft spot concerning children. As he's aged, he's found himself in company of quite the brood. Some have gone on to Impress, while others have been sent to various Crafts, or have kept themselves at High Reaches Weyr.
Positive Trait List Generous, Loyal, Reliable Worker
Negative Trait List Proud, Overly Aloof, Judgmental
History:
Darcir was the eldest child out of a family of five. His father had inherited a small, but wealthy cot-hold on Tillke's expansive coast, and one might believe that the man thought it as large and prosperous as a large Tillek Hold itself! His family was spoiled with all the riches his title offered, and they were taught the difference between men of their rank, and those 'beneath' them. Where Darcir and his siblings were taught studies by journeyman, they were kept indoors and away from the 'vermin' children that lived much more modestly then they. Where his father taught them with a heavy hand that foolishness was not to be allowed, that games were nothing but a downfall, and that nothing could be achieved without duty and work, Darcir's mother could only preach about beauty. If any of her children were to marry well and succeed, they need only look as far as their reflection - cordiality, etiquette and social-graces [even when placed with the vermin] were honed in to their thoughts and beliefs.
Though the children had everything they could desire, it was affection and fondness they were lacking. True emotion and feeling was frowned upon to be shown, and while the girls were known to be the weaker of the two sexes and able to break, the men were to be strong and allowed no cracks in temperament.
In reality, Darcir's life could almost be considered plain. He was protected, he was spoiled, and with age he made his father proud by becoming exactly what they had wished him to be - handsome, intelligent, cordial, and cold. Though he could think on his own, he had his family's honor to uphold - so long as they stayed pleased, nothing else quite mattered. He had long since learned that personal gain meant nothing if he didn't have his family or minor Hold in mind.
At turn 15, the young man was sent to various neighboring cotholds and Holds, often introduced to others of rank. His family began arranging potential marriages, in hopes that their son might choose a woman to their liking and ideals. Despite often courting many a lady, the dark haired boy refused to choose one and settle, and still managed to retain his bachelor nature.
As a gift from one family to his own at turn 16, he was offered a fire-lizard egg for his turning day. Surprised by such an offering (though he was quite sure it was an attempt of bribery to better look upon their daughter) in it was a petite and dainty green fire-lizard. Though he'd never thought of owning a creature, he found her companionship strangely appealing and has thus trained her to be a proper little lady.
At Turn 17, it was at the suggestion of Darcir's uncle that perhaps he follow him to High Reaches Weyr. It would do the family well to gain some allies (despite his father's view that most dragonmen were lazy and no good demanding tithes when they did nothing to deserve such fineries). Assets and allies could be made, and befriending one with such honorable transportation might do the family well. Furthermore, a previous beau of his had been Searched three turns previous; from what news the family kept, perhaps it would do them well if the two reunited. His uncle could help teach him the art of being a trader, which required a shrewd business-like mind.
His father agreed, and as such his eldest son was whisked away in hopes of making allies, rekindling anything with his former beau (plans had fallen through due to her Search) and should return in a few months time all the wiser.
Surprisingly, despite his cool and grim nature, it was after a month at High Reaches Weyr a blue sought him out as a potential Candidate! Writing back with such news, Darcir was surprised when his father and mother decided it was for the best for him to Stand - he was to Impress a bronze and inherit the Weyr upon graduation. Wouldn't that be something to be proud of! No, he needn't worry about the inheritance of the Hold - he did have a younger brother that was growing up just as well as he! And if Darcir failed to attract the attention of a proper dragon, well, he would return at once to his family. Though they weren't set in stone, arrangements had been made about his future and bride; if he found no proper Hold-bred girl while at the Weyr, there were 'other' arrangements made waiting for him.
Darcir did indeed go on to Impress, though it took roughly a few Turns to find his match. At Turn 20 he locked eyes with a dark blue dragon named Dionyth. The blue absolutely changed his life forever -- where he had once been a horribly lonely man, with walls to keep others out -- his blue dragon slipped into that emptiness and loved him like he'd never been loved before. They were a close bond -- perhaps too close, and edged towards codependency -- but he knew that he could never go on without Dionyth.
Unfortunately, his family didn't really want to be associated with nothing more than a blue rider. While they didn't cut him off, they certainly wrote him off, and encouraged he stay at the Weyr. In other words, they didn't want him to return. Though he was heartbroken -- devastated even -- D'cir leaned all the more on Dionyth. They would do just fine at High Reaches Weyr and someday prove themselves to his family! Shortly thereafter his father, a bitter and cross man, gave his son his share of his inheritance in marks, and cut him off from the family for good.
They graduated weyrling training, D'cir dabbled in relationships here and there. As a closeted man, the Weyr opened up new opportunities. He made friends, albeit slowly, had a few more serious relationships (some that ended quite dramatically) but he eventually fell in with a bronzeirder by name of J'ser.
Without a family or Hold to return to, D'cir fostered and adopted some within the Weyr. Two Turn's prior, he found out Thread devastated his family, killing most of them, and wiping out most of his Hold. A sister survived, and she took over the Hold, after D'cir declined to return. While his relationship with her is strained, his squabble with family was with his father more than her.
Other: He may or may not have an eating disorder. At best it's a terribly unhealthy relationship with food and his weight.
DRAGON
Name: Dionyth
Age: 23
Color: Blue
Size: 33'
Egg: Panther Egg
A deep, rich, almost black color, it's impossible to tell whether it's an extremely dark brown or blue. Faint speckles run across its surface, and a sense of calmness seems to radiate from the tough shell. It's a bit on the 'bigger' end of medium-sized. Rebelliously, this egg has tipped away from the rest of the clutch, the very tip of it just barely brushing against the Jaguar Egg. It seems rather indifferent as to whether its noticed or not.
Physical Description: Big for a blue, this dragon is sleek rather than bulky.
Personality: There is something notably charismatic about blue Dionyth. Even as a hatchling, he is confident and almost suave, never needing to draw attention to himself--people just focus on him naturally. Because of this, he always seems to be a little smug, like he knows some joke he'd prefer to keep to himself. He's a mysterious fellow, silent in the presence of company and preferring to be alone with His most of the time, but perhaps it's because he's so secretive that everyone wants to get to know him a little better. Whenever he's pressed to speak, he does so confidently, and it will be extremely difficult to upset or convince this blue that he's ever wrong.
While Dionyth doesn't exactly look down on anyone, he makes it clear he isn't really interested in making friends, either. It's nothing personal--he'd honestly just prefer to be by himself. However, there is one dragon that he's bonded to without question; his brother, Naguath. This dragon's personality does a complete 180 when his sibling is around, and Dionyth becomes surprisingly affectionate. When he's younger, it's not uncommon to see him huddled up against the other. Naguath is the one creature, besides his rider, that Dionyth would ever drop his mysterious exterior and confess his real frustrations and problems to. He prefers to be with Naguath at all times if possible, and enjoys lightly teasing his brother; Dionyth softens visibly when the other blue is around.
Wildly possessive of those he deems 'his', it isn't uncommon for Dionyth to bristle over little things; if his rider has a flit, well, it won't be uncommon for the blue to snap at the poor creature until it goes away for a while. He excels at Flights, his powerful build allowing him to quickly gain speed and to turn sharply should he need to. Any green he catches won't be welcomed in his wallow for long--he'll chase them out firmly, if politely. Getting romantically attached just isn't for him.
Big for a blue, this dragon is sleek rather than bulky. He'd prefer to sit back and let Naguath muscle his way around for the pair of them, though he can more than easily hold his own. As far as Dionyth is concerned, his rider should be honored that he's their dragon, and he will make quite a name for both of them as a competent and trustworthy pair.
Why Me Darcir's clever wit and keen mind, as well as his self-isolation is what attracted this blue to him immediately. Dionyth is not interested in loud, proud, and showy. When things do get rough, Dionyth needs someone he can privately lean on so that he can appear strong and confident for the rest of the world, and will relentlessly chase away any of Darcir's self-doubts and insecurities so they can grow powerful together.
