EARLY CHILDHOOD Arry grew up loved by both his parents dearly. His mother was a kindhearted soul who took in just about any creature, big or small, if she thought it needed help. This resulted in Arry growing up surrounded by a strange assortment of magical creatures. Despite her loving nature, she didn't know how to care for most of these magical creatures in the slightest, resulting in his father doing research on each and every creature she brought home. His father was often busy with work, leaving care books for his wife on each creature she brought in. This was how Arry was taught to read, as he assisted his mother in caring for all the animals. As he grew older, he was the one taking care of more and more animals, bringing home a few himself, much to his father's annoyance.
Arry was as forgetful as his mother, so his father took to leaving both of them notes around the house for while he was at work, a habit Arry picked up over the years for himself. The only thing about him that wasn't disorganized was his note books and parchments, something his father was very proud of.
The only proper pet the family owned was a stray tabby named Snifflebottom who died by his 5th year in Hogwarts.
SCHOOL YEARS Arathorn was not the strongest student, or the smartest, but people did enjoy his company. The only subjects he seemed to do decently were Astronomy, Transfiguration and Care for Magical Creatures. His father joked that is was because his head was always up in the clouds, and he wanted to be closer to the animals he cared for. He often spent his down hours helping the Care for Magical Creatures professor in feeding and tending to the animals. At night he would occasionally sneak down to the kitchen for a midnight snack. The only reason he wasn't caught is the other students pets for the most part loved him, and as long as he shared his midnight meal, they would warn him of professors coming his way.
During his fifth year, Snifflebottom died, contributing to his poor test scores as he mourned over the animal he grew up with. It was also the same year he wound up raising a baby raven whose parents abandoned it. The raven never could fly right, and wouldn't have made it out in the wild. He kept the bird under his bed to hide it, much to the amusement, and minor annoyance of his roommates. As the raven grew, he started repeating back Arry's to-do list to him, helping out the poor Hufflepuff when he spaced out. This earned the raven the name Taskmaster from Arry's peers.
He graduated top of his class in Care of Magical animals, and poorly in just about everything else, earning just enough to graduate. He was happy, and for the most part, so was his family. His father was a little disappointed, partly due to his Ravenclaw nature. His mother was just happy to see her son was happy.
POST-GRADUATION After graduation, Arathorn worked odd jobs, living at home and squirreling his money away. He wanted to buy Magical Menagerie from the retiring shopkeeper, and he had almost enough money with his parents help to do so. He wanted to encourage the next generation of animal lovers in the proper care and maintenance of their wonderful pets.
