Personality: Bold, and somewhat stubborn, Zhen exhibits an incredible level of self confidence that borders on arrogance, growing up in a life style very reminiscent to that of a hunter, mostly due to Zhen being raised by a certain old man into being his own man rather than someone else's property, taking a great emphasis on his sense of freedom to do whatever he likes without someone telling him otherwise. This makes him rather difficult to handle one-on-one in terms cooperation or personal interactions due to his sassy and defiant nature, a result of his upbringing that emphasized dominance over mutual understanding in a relationship, effectively giving him an barbaric mentality; however if one earns his trust the right way then they will have a loyal soldier on their hands willing to do whatever it takes to ensure their goal comes to fruition. Having spent most of his childhood growing up on the streets, Zhen learned the the most basic rules of survival, implanting a "survival of the fittest" mentality into him, making him a natural survivor; as a result, Zhen always acts and thinks like a survivor, always keeping his guard up in all instances while allowing himself to be guided by his instincts whenever it's time to move or fight. With the unique circumstances behind his childhood, he is well honed when it comes thinking on his feet, taking things as they go while demonstrating a great sense of resourcefulness in the processes. As such, he is perfectly aware of his capabilities, priding himself in his ability to discern when to fight and when the battle’s already lost without stubbornly refusing to acknowledge results. But that doesn't mean he isn't ambitious in his endeavors.
In more than one occasion, Zhen has been known to take things too far at times, such as taking on more than one opponent or challenge enemies of higher caliber than himself in order to test the gap of power between himself and that of his opponent. Much like the rest of his personality, he can be known for having an extremely blunt or callous toward others, always saying what needs saying or doing what needs to be done without taking into account how others feel, mostly due to his reasoning of willingly keeping emotions out of the equation and doing it for the greater good. However, as cold as he may seem, he isn't entirely heartless in his endeavors; Zhen does show genuine care for his friends and allies in his own way, always taking into account everyone’s strengths and weaknesses and evaluating what they can and can't do, always showing a great deal of care into knowing their limitations so as adjust his role to better aid them, making him a decent team player. Preferring to keep to himself most of the time, he is willing to help others when they're looking for a helping hand, mainly due to his somewhat empathetic nature for those in need. This aspect of his does serve as a type of weakness at times. With such an objective and decisive way of doing things, and the simple fact that he is too strong-willed a man whenever he does chooses to do something, Zhen hardly, if ever, backs down from a fight or a challenge.
Unfortunately, this does bring along its own set of problems, one of them being the fact that he thrives on the thrill challenge. On a more positive note, Zhen is rather persistent when he commits to something, being very picky whenever he decides what’s worth his time and sticks to it until the job is done, powering through until he himself is satisfied. This dedication he has toward pursuing something only greatly emphasizes just how on point he is, even if sometimes it is irrational. Zhen can be distinguished as being rather bratty or a head-strong person, giving him an obstinate opinion whenever he takes a stance on something, making him unyielding to change. Zhen can be rather sarcastic and humorous in his own way, often cracking jokes at the expense of others while maintaining some semblance of balance between being serious and perpetually relaxed, creating a tendency of saying or doing things in a controversial or adversarial manner.
Extremely prone to violence, this man always finds himself in a fight with someone else as most of the time he will often be the instigator. Zhen does however show a level-headed sense of cautiousness when fighting, always taking into consideration his enemy's fighting abilities and comparing it to his own, measuring the gap of power between himself and them in order to estimate the amount of strength he should use, along with how he should best move about to give himself the advantage. Zhen is a very angry and vindictive person by nature who takes great delight at the suffering of those who have wronged him. He becomes excited very easily, showing a psychotic smile whenever he is enjoys a good fight, and enjoys taking risks, living for the thrill of the moment as he dives in head first into a battle, taking down multitudes of enemies single-handedly with maximum force. Still being a young man at his prime, his attention span, the amount of concentrated time one can spend on a task without becoming distracted, is very small; easily able to lose focus on the task at hand, he tends to do things his own way rather than follow directions, believing that his way is the only and best way to do things. This on contrast makes him rather hard to control as he's more than likely to go do something unexpected than follow the plan made. With this kind of habit, Zhen is more of a wild card than an actual player when it comes to plans and strategies, screwing with the natural order of things until it meets his specific standards, which in other words means completely throwing out the old plan and going with his, making it up as he go's. Even as unexpected as he is, it isn't necessarily a bad thing, as his experience with doing these things has sharpened his natural instincts, allowing him to think on his feat even win the heat of the moment, making him perfect at improvising quick details to anything he's doings or going to do.
Fears: Dying a death unbecoming of a Martial Artist
Backstory: There was once a child who had grown up in a rundown apartment complex along with his older brother. Their Mother, Zhenya Song, was a beautiful woman who had at one point worked hard to become a police woman, believing her martial arts would help her greatly. After getting coffee at her favorite park during her routine jog, she had met a rather handsome young man with black hair and blue eyes. The man had decided to help to a lost child find his mother, he was shouting for the child's mother so loud that Zhenya was convinced it echoed all throughout the park. Wishing to help the man, she had joined in, yelling out as loud as she could for the lost boy's mother and eventually the son and mother would be reunited but only after Zhenya and the man had wore their voices thin. The handsome man had thanked Zhenya on helping him and the boy, going so far as to call her their hero. This had warmed her heart a bit, urging her to want to know the man's name. His name was Zexian Xai, he worked as a private investigator and evidently he had at one point wished to be a man of the Military, believing his mastery of Baji Quan would indeed help him, but thanks to his family he wasn't allowed to enlist. The two had spent a few hours exchanging stories and pointers on Martial Arts. Their like-mindedness had urged the others to want to see each other again and thus scheduled days where they could go on jogs together. Eventually these meet ups would become dates and they had expanded from simply jogging. Soon after the usual pace most couples go had begun, they went on dates, got to know each other better, spent every now and then at one another's apartment, moved in with one another, and then eventually got married and had their first child. For a while everything was well, but then the man she fell for had changed. He had become a horrid monster that had become an addicted gambler and she had gotten a terminal illness. Both she and their son, Guanyu, would often receive his anger whenever he came home after losing. Their second son, Zhen, of course was not safe from his abuse either. Every time he was hit, Guanyu would take on whatever beatings or punishments his little brother would receive following the initial hit. Thanks to Zexian's addiction, barely any money had ever gone towards supporting his family, only himself to further his greed. This would lead to the brothers to have to sell their possessions, do odd jobs, and even sometimes steal, all for money and food. Whenever they were caught, Zexian would beat them both and keep the money for himself, simply telling the original owners that they spent it on candy.
The only things that kept Zhen sane and full of hope in this horrid life were three things, his Mother's love, Guanyu who Zhen admired greatly, and the various Martial Arts Programs on TV that Zhenya and her sons would watch whenever Zexian had left on his week long Money Quests. His Mother and Aoisei had also decided to properly teach Zhen martial arts during these weeks. Those weeks were the happiest those three would be. For just a short amount of time they were free from that man's abuse; during that time Guanyu would play Martial Artist with Zhen as the Martial Artist and him as the Villain/Monster while their mother was the civilian that needed to be saved. During these play sessions, Guanyu had always insisted that he was the Villain/Monster, the reason why was simple: he wanted Zhen to aspire to be a Martial Artist one day so that he could be far away from their Father and even perhaps get the justice Zhen and their mother deserved. Eventually a new member would join the family, a beautiful baby girl who would be named Jingyi, but within a year of her birth the terminal illness that plagued her mother would take her away from her children. The death of their mother had great scared Guanyu, but Zhen had felt the true impact of this. The two had raised Jingyi by themselves, teaching her what they could as their Father no doubt had no interest of having her go to school. The brothers would take on any and all beatings or acts of abuse Jingyi might receive from Yokudō, no matter how severe it was. She was a flower that needed to be protected, she was a slight left behind by their Mother that will never be enshrouded by the darkness.
Eventually Guanyu had left the house more often without Zhen for a job he had recently gotten into. According to him, this job will help them rake in more money to take care of themselves and may even help out with their Dad. Sadly this lack of time Zhen would get to spend with Guanyu would slowly start affecting his little brother. He had become much more depressed and his grasp of what little hope he had started to loosen as time went on. It was during a week where their Father was gone that Guanyu had noticed how badly Zhen needed hope. Even though they were watching Sentai and Martial Artist programs, he would not smile and when they played Sentai Martial Artist this broken look in his eyes would not fade and no enthusiasm or happiness had surfaced during that whole week. On the day before their Father got home, Guanyu had taken Zhen and Jingyi out to a toy store and would buy them whatever they wanted. Zhen had depressingly requested a action figure of this famous Martial Artist while a four year old Jingyi had asked for some crayons. The day following would be known as the last straw for Guanyu. The little sister, despite the abuse her brothers had gotten, had taken the crayons and drew a child level drawing of her Father and his children having a picnic on a sunny hill, all four of them smiling. The fact she had crayons he did not recall her having before, Zexian had been angered and slapped his daughter so hard it gave her a nose that was gushing blood. When Guanyu and Zhen had found their little sister this way, the eldest brother had started a brawl with the father, only to lose thanks the difference in experience Zexian had more experience with. After this loss, Guanyu had decided it was time for his siblings to be free. The following week, Guanyu had gotten his hands on a gun and had his siblings hide in their room. Then Guanyu shot a begging Zexian in between the eyes, but unfortunately his siblings had came downstairs just in time to watch the bullet go through the man's skull. This had mortified them both and the only thing Guanyu could do was call the police to turn himself in.
The two siblings would eventually be put into an orphanage where they would at one point be adopted by a renowned General of the Chinese Military. This man, Yijun Tan, was watching over the Chinese Military's efforts to create AMS'. It was after witnessing Zhen's talent for Martial Arts that Yijun decided to build his adopted son up as a potential pilot. The young man at the age of 14 had went through various combat simulations, he was taught how to survive in the wilderness, how to kill someone, and most importantly of all how to pilot a AMS. It was naught but a year later when That incident had shook the world; his Adopted Father, his Little Sister, and mostly everyone that worked under Yijun had all disappeared. He had one last shred of hope, that if anyone knew what to do it would be Guanyu. Taking his training and worker AMS, Zhen traveled to the prison in which Guanyu was locked away. But unfortunately, he too was gone. Eventually Zhen would find himself as a member of Raven and the pilot of the Brawler type AMS Karna.
Goal: Get Jingyi and Guanyu back
Extra: He has a tendency to correct people if they say his full name starting with his Family name, he simply believes saying "Xai Zhen" is cooler than "Zhen Xai."
