Personality:
To many and all, Matilda gives off to be very energetic with her own unique way of conducting herself and her work, it scares some of the other co-workers but others have gotten used to this. When she's not coming up with theories or zoning out with shower thoughts (deep or doesn't make sense). She's quietly observing what's going on around her. She may seem to be the free spirited type but that is mostly when her mood swings into hypomania or something that she's interested in. But Matilda is usually calm and sometimes serious, she is blunt when it comes to her opinions.
Fears:
All of world's mystery being solved. But at the same time she want's to know.
Backstory:
Born in Edinburg, Scotland (Origin of her middle name). Matilda is the oldest of four children. There's her, her younger brother Allister (5 years younger) and her younger twin sister Alisa and Alleah (15 years younger). Their parents both worked as scientists; mother is studying astronomy & astrology and father is studying marine ecology. Different subject but they help each other with their research. That was the most of Matilda's childhood, watching her parents working. Not in a bad way where it seems that they were too busy working than spend time with their children. Some nights she'll spend time with mother writing notes about the zodiac signs or going outside at night and find the asterisms (constellations are regions in the sky). And on other nights she'll be spending time with father taking notes on specific marine life and its relationship with their environment including notes on how global warming is changing it. A lot of exposure to science as a child, no wonder it became her fascination, the unknown. The information everyone is after.
From when she was a child, she was the science nerd. But wasn't the only thing that made her stand out as a kid. It started with Matilda would get sudden boosts of energy out of nowhere, loud speech and exaggerating confidence which soon follows up with a degradation of that energy, fatigue and even a loss of appetite. But it wasn't in that order, it changes sometimes and the time between the two phases varies each time. The first time it happened was in school when Matilda was around nine, they thought it was some sort of sugar rush and waved it off. But over the course of several years, it recurred a few more times at random which was when teacher had to tell her parents about the odd behaviour. By then, she was brought to a doctor where she was officially diagnosed with Bipolar II at the age of fourteen.
Her highschool years were not eventful despite that she spent those four years to build her interest in the science department ad reputation as "That science nerd". Soon after she graduated, Matilda moved onto the univeristy she applied and was accepted for her high grade average and even recommendations from her teachers. University wasn't that much different, minus the countless numbers of days where Matilda went without sleep, this was the time coffee become her best friend. Long nights working on assignments. Okay, maybe not that indifferent. Let's just say that Matilda has a lot of mood swings in those four years. This was when she was percreibed to lithium.
During university, Matilda mostly went through her depression phase and was given a prescription for prozac. She took a few various forms of science which was molecular biology and environmental biology. Following her parent's steps into the world of science. Nothing much happened during those years except for endless nights, staying awake for days to finish important assignments. This was when she discovered coffee.
The apocalypse happened and she was some of the lucky ones still breathing. Unfortunately, she had no information if her family was alright. That depression phase was one of the worst compare to the rest. It may have gotten her a twenty-four hour watch after she almost starved herself. But years has passed and she hasn't been that down since but it stayed at the back of her head. Is her family alive? Being recruited on the research team by the Ravens did help a little with keeping her busy.
Goal: Finding her family.
