Ahhhhhh. A large sigh of relief left Hadithi's mouth as he quickly scrambled into the cave. There was no hesitation in his movement when Xing had pointed out that there was enough room for them to go in. He had been out in the cold for far too long. But...where was Xing?
His ears flattened as he swiveled to see her come in after him. He had been so focused on getting into some warmth that he didn't even realize that he had left her outside. Even though their entrance was milliseconds apart, he should have still let her in first. Not only was she female, but she was the one to have all the bright ideas. He just followed. Xing deserved this more than he did. "Sorry," he gave her a sheepish grin, tail flickering.
"It feels so nice here," his eyes roamed the cave. There was nothing that made it unique or special other than the fact that it was the only shelter that they could see in the middle of a snowy nowhere. Yet it held so much significance to him. He looked towardsthe walls, wondering what history laid there. Were there others like him? Or were they the first living beings to enter into this den? It was one of the rare moments where he wished that the walls could talk.
This whole encounter was so important to him. Without Xing, he wasn't sure where he'd be. Meeting her felt like some sort of lucky chance. His gaze went back to her curiously. He didn't know much about her. That just wouldn't do. "What brings you to these parts?" There had to be some reason why. Who wanted to wind up here? He himself wasn't planning on the long trek in the snow.

The yellow lioness padded in quickly, ignoring the stinging in her paw for the moment. It could wait. She just wanted to warm her fur up right now. Sighing in relief, she felt the tension in her body melt away when she was no longer being greeted with biting winds in every direction, and sidled over to where Hadithi was.
She cocked her head to the side, confused over why he'd be apologizing. "Why? You did nothing wrong, and we're both out of that storm now." Her ears flattened against her head, "I don't know if I'd have found this place without you too." She was a tiny bit panicked back there, she'd admit. She didn't want to know what would have happened had they not found shelter. She'd probably be a lion icicle by this point.
Xing slowly relaxed down to the ground, careful of her paw. Although, it didn't seem to be bleeding anymore... or it was just frozen over. A quick glance at her paw showed that yeah, it was probably just frozen over. Hopefully it wouldn't start bleeding again once she's warmed up.
Ah, warmth. She didn't know how much she missed it until now. She should go somewhere tropic after this.
Her ears perked up when he spoke up though. "Oh," she gave an embarrassed laugh, "I was actually just traveling through, but when I saw it start snowing... I've never seen snow before. So I started walking through it. By the time I realized that it was just the start of a storm, it was too late." She sighed, "I think I've had my fill of snow now though."
With a shake of her head, she turned to look back at him, "What about you? How'd you end up here?"

Why? Wasn't it obvious?
Hadithi cocked his own head to the side. "You were the one to do most of the hard work," His ears twitched guiltily back, brows drawn upwards. All he had done was push on the rock--and wound up nearly crushing her in the process. In short, he felt like one of the worst creatures on earth. "You should have been the first one in." A sigh left his lips, face lifting. Xing did have a point. They were now out of the storm and into warmth.
A sudden bark of laughter left him at her next words, quickly shaking a paw in denial. "Kidding me? That was just a stroke of luck," he beamed, sincerity in his voice. "All thanks to you. Told you you were my lucky charm." She was the reason he was able to find shelter, he was sure of it. Those days in the wet were all up to bad luck, not chance. She was the one to give him the luck in finding this hovel. "Or maybe we're each other's lucky charms.". Yet he was pretty sure it was because of her.
Hadithi's eyes never left her. But...the usual grin on his face fell. Why was she looking at her paw. "Are you hurt?" he took a tentative step forward and craned his neck in order to see. Man, if she was, he'd feel so bad. He really should have been more careful and observant out there. Getting inside wasn't a good enough excuse. No reason would be valid enough for hurting someone. No matter how small the wound is.
The lion didn't get a chance to see the wound, though, momentarily distracted by her voice. "Just traveling through huh?" He grinned. Maybe they were meant to meet each other. "So was I! Well---I kind of walked into the storm. " he chuckled, bringing his paw up to go through his mane. Couldn't say that regretted it though. Xing sounded like an interesting lioness that he'd like to know more about.
He plopped down in front of her, legs splaying. The more surface his body covered, the better. It might be cold now, but he knew that the ground would soon warm his still soaked fur. A loud groan fell from his lips as he nodded in agreement. "Yeah.. I think I can live without it from now on." Unless there was a good story to be had, but he doubted it. Who could live in something so icy and cold? He doubted fish could even survive in it...but that did bring up an idea. He'd have to try it later if he found a lake or a stream nearby.
Blue eyes moved towards the roof of the cave in thought. " I was hoping for a good story, to meet someone interesting." A slow, fond smile came upon his face, his soft gaze moving towards her. "I wasn't wrong."

Honestly, she didn't think that she'd done very much. Mostly just followed him to this place and started digging. She felt herself heat up under her fur at the compliments though. There was that endearment again, a "lucky charm", and she wasn't used to being called it. Most avoided her after they saw misfortune following her, and to have someone who didn't think that... It was nice. A little embarrassing, but nice.
She shuffled her uninjured paw against the ground, "You were just as cold as I was. I don't really mind who got in here first." She looked back up and smiled, "Yeah, I'd say we were each other's lucky charms." After all, she would have been buried alive had she stayed in her previous shelter, and it was much better being with someone in this situation. It helped ease her nerves.
Xing grimaced when he asked if she was hurt. She briefly thought about lying, not wanting to worry him, but if it did start bleeding after it thawed out.... With a sigh, the lioness shrugged and decided to play it off. After all, it really didn't look that bad. Just stung a little bit. "Don't worry, it's just a scratch. Not even bleeding." Hopefully. "A few good licks and it'll be good as new." She paused here to stare at him for a moment. Then, with a tentative smile, she leaned forward and bumped her head briefly against the side of his, "Thank you for caring though. And thank you for helping me while we were out there. I think you were incredibly helpful. So we'll have to agree to disagree on that."
His explanation for being here made her giggle. Birds of a feather, then? Well, they'd both learned their lessons. Why anyone would choose to live in the snowy regions, she had no idea. Was there even any food to hunt? Or did they just live off of plants? It sounded horrible.
Focusing back on him again, her ears pulled back in embarrassment, "Well, I don't know if I'm all that interesting." She hummed, "Although I suppose you did get a good story this time around." And so did she. This was an experience that would be interesting to tell people later. Well, it would be to warn others of not doing what she did, but regardless. Still a good story. Good because she's alive and she's found someone worth meeting.

Xing may have not faulted himself for not letting her go first, but Hadithi still did. It was wrong, shameful. Females and cubs should always be taken first. It was only right. Yet, his ears did perk up slowly at the lionesses comment. He guessed it was fine as long as she thought it was. A feeble grin reached his maw as he decided to tilt his head towards her, nodding. "Hopefully the luck will last and end the storm." He could only hope. As much as he enjoyed her company, the snow wasn't his cup of tea.
So she was hurt. Hadithi winced, both of his eyes squeezed shut. Definitely should have been more careful. "Does it hurt?" his eyes roved the barren cave for some sort of plant. He didn't know much about medicine, only a few tips and tricks that he picked up from his travels but he could still be of some help. It may be a small wound but it was still a wound. One that he might have been responsible for. Unfortunately, there was no sign of plant life anywhere inside. He sighed, eyes moving back towards Xing. "Once the storm dies down I can go out and grab some herbs that might help any pain." he offered, tail flat against the ground in guilt.
The sudden touch had his eyes as wide as can be. Blood ran to his cheeks in slight embarrassment. However; the touch wasn't unwanted. Just what he wasn't expecting. Made him feel...loved? Appreciated? It was amazing how strong a feeling was when it wasn't felt for so long. "I---" he gulped as his voice wobbled. "Y-yeah. I just found the cave, you did all the tough work. B-but, agree to disagree." he laughed lamely, jaw snapping shut. Hadithi was usually good with words. It was odd to not find the words right now. He shifted just barely out of reach and tried to collect himself.
Her giggle was a fortunate good distraction. It made his grin wider, shaking his head. "You are interesting!" he beamed. Not anyone would be so chipper in these dire circumstances. "Even if we weren't looking for shelter, meeting you is a better story." He tilted his head to the side "Where were you traveling to?"

Xing glanced down at her paw, turning it over to take a look at the wound, and barely stopped herself from grimacing at the unfortunate sight of blood beginning to bubble up. So she was right about it thawing out. Well, nothing a few licks couldn't fix. Shaking her head, she replied back with, "Not really." It stung just a little bit, but it wasn't worth bothering him over. She didn't want him to start blaming himself over it, although she wondered if he wasn't already, with the way he was acting. She swiped at it with her tongue a few times, hopefully cleaning out the wound enough that it would close up on its own just fine.
At his offer, she purred. He was a helpful one. Just another reason she was the lucky one to have come across him! "Oh, if it's too much trouble, don't worry about it." She was sure that the stinging would be gone long before the storm stopped. At least, she was pretty sure. Relatively sure.
She giggled again in amusement, not expecting the stuttering to come from her new friend. He sure got flustered easily, but then, who was she to judge? She also got really flustered really easily, especially when she was distressed already.
"Oh," the yellow lioness cocked her head to the side. Honestly, she didn't have anywhere in particular that she was going... she just wanted to see what was in this region. She snorted to herself, 'Snow, apparently.' She'd certainly learned her lesson. She was clearly made for warmer climates. Shaking her head, she mumbled back, "Nowhere in particular. I'd heard about snow from other rogues, and when I found out it was in this direction, I decided to take a look. Aside from that," she paused to hum in thought and then continued, "I don't know. I might take a look at the area for a bit when the snow dies down, or I might just leave. Maybe go somewhere warmer." The last part was said with amusement.
Ears tilting up in curiosity, Xing leaned in closer to Hadithi. "What about you? I know you're looking for stories, but where will you go now? Still going to search the area for more?"
