Coiled neatly under a tree, one purple haired Naga reclined against the smooth bark. Her eyes were on her hands examining them casually. All outwards signs displayed a calm and perfectly at ease naga. Playing with her trophies displayed another sign, either herself or her male were not to be underestimated. Her male was a bad statement, the hissing pile of leaves earned an eye-roll. Laying flat against the ground and covered in fallen fronds existed one very miserable male. He hissed constantly with the tip of his tail shifting from time to time. Everything he tried thus far had failed to evict the she-demon, so he was taking a rest. He was not pouting, he was NOT! No just resting and grumbling hidden well beneath the fronds.

Kahina wasn't the strongest of the females of her clan, nor was she one of the weakest. Not the smartest, nor the most idiotic. Just about all of her attributes could be considered to be, in a word: average (for her clan, at least). In being so rather mundane, she was able to avoid attention from either end of the spectrum and could mostly act as she pleased. There were few expectations for greatness, but there was also limited reasons to earn others' scorn.
To her, it was just the place she wanted to be, a point of relative freedom that allowed her the comfort and safety of her clan.
And so she relished in it.
Perhaps she could have risen in position if she'd ever felt to do so - she did consider herself better at this point than some of those ranked above her - but saw no need to do so. Too much effort for too little reward, really.
Today was like any other day; she was out searching for a medium-large beast or two to capture and bring back to the clan. Same old, same old. She even used the same hunting ground, one she had used without coming into trouble with another clan for seasons. By now, she considered it her - if not her clan's - territory. While alert, she may have been less actively paying attention en-route than normal. It was a lazy sort of day

A few birds took off unexpectedly earning a glance from the lounging Naga.Something was moving into her territory, this was interesting. Smiling she strengthened herself and threw a small rock at the hissing fronds, "Show time, great emperor" Sarcasm dripped like venom coated in amusement. Striking out on her own she expected to be an empress of her own clan by now. Instead she finds this lump of muscle and not much else.
It was a shame, this would have been prefect but the Emperor did not live up to any expectations. At least he was reactive, the hissing was funny. The rock earned an irritated hiss, but it was hard to tell among the stream of them earned whenever he was near Mystic. She was pushy, and annoying and...did she say show time?
Oh ho someone invaded his territory.
Smiling, something wicked this way comes and he was eager for it. So much pent up aggression and irritation to take out on some inspecting something. Maybe it was a tasty harpy? The chick he had last week had been so sweet. Or it was one of those hoofed things? Licking his fangs, the fronds made way for the full form of a rising emperor. Hood flaring out and narrowed eyes glaring towards one particularly offensive tree he did a great job of looking intimidating. Mystic rolled her eyes at the show, such a drama queen momma's boy.Takshaka took off towards the smell of another, following the disturbed birds. He could taste the hunt already, feel the ache in his coils to take the life out of his prey. Just seconds from bursting out upon the movement source he activated the Eris given power, his scales turning into an armor all its own. With his hood flaring, a frond dancing stuck in the cobra hood dancing ridiculously, he did his best hiss with fangs bared.
In his opinion, he was quite scary.
Only the whole look deflated upon recognizing the other as a female naga. Ugh, he did not need another girl around! "This is clan Panzer territory!" With a weak shooing motion he told her, "Shoo.." There was no fun in a female naga, he couldn't fight them, Momma said so. Meanwhile Mystic had followed but stayed back expecting a show. Upon seeing the female herself, she echoed the disappointed look. Well, this was no fun.
Or maybe it was, if the useless emperor wouldn't do something, she could have fun. Slithering out next to the emperor proudly playing with one of her harpy feather trophies. "You are lost little princess, better turn around now." Grinning she waited and watched the pretty little female. This wasn't competition, just a bit of fun.

A growing sense of animosity had stopped Kahina in her path, her eyes narrowing as she awaited its source. Perhaps she would had been more intimidated if 1) it hadn't been another naga that'd appeared and, 2) he hadn't deflated before her very eyes. Judging from the hood, he should have been an emperor, but such weak actions was very unbecoming of one. Disgusting, actually. And if one didn't command her respect, they were worth less than the fungus beneath the soil.
"Your territory? Ehhhh?" She raised herself in a threatening manner as she placed the backs of her hands on her hips, a single eyebrow raised. "Da'fuq you mean by that? These been my huntin' grounds for seasons; don't remember turnin'em over to some skink-patterned skank and some no-name clan. Panzer? Reaaaaaly? Given the lack of notoriety, the two o'you are prob'ly as threatenin' as a harpy chick fresh outta the shell. Where you get off talkin' to me like that?" Raising one of her hands to pull up her nose as if there was something disgusting before her, she used the other to mock the male's 'shooing' motion.
She paused after a moment, her eyes looking the male up and down more carefully.
"Oh wait a damn! I KNOW you!" Her lips twisted up into a smirk as she moved to cross her arms "Ain't you one of the Angwi babs; and the one that got beat silly by a harpy too! NOW AIN'T THAT RICH? We had to go save your sorry asses 'cause of how weak the lot'o you are." Her voice had turned from a mocking to an irritated tone. "Then ya had the nerve to not even send one of the females over as thanks! An' now your in MY territory tellin' me to piss off? EHHH? Just how arrogant can one clan be?"

Mystic pursed her lips, chest shaking as she tried not to laugh at this hatchling. Were all the clans in this area so touched? Maybe it was the stench that came of the ones that lived to deep in that forest. It was sad really.
Usually this would be funny, watch the emperor hiss and steam but the uppity child thought to try and insult her. It was a weak insult, and the poor thing was visibly touched in the head. "My you are awfully plain for such language, hatching." Rolling her shoulders back, the she-naga purposely hung back leaving Takshaka to defend himself. This wasn't truly her clan and as long as the lizard kept to attacking him she could sit back and watch. The drab girl could use something shiny but if she could back up that attitude she might even be good for the clan.
Once she learned her place, or rather earned it. Great, another mouthy female. She wasn't a sister and Momma wasn't here, so there was that. Just thinking about his mother pulled the male into a sour mood. Puffing right back up, hood out and glare on set to seething, he took her challenge but made no move to get near her. His mother holding him back.
"If you heard of me, someone escaped to tell the tale!" Mystic had explained over and over again why his clan needed to be known. Other clans could come to challenge him. That was fine with him so long as they weren't girls. Girls were Mystic's task and she was failing at even that!
Oh did she just? Hissing so deeply it sounded like a grown he glared at her harder, "We held our own! Most of you turned tail and ran! Some 'saving'" Not that he had a clue who she was, his focus had been on the loudest of the ugly birds. That had been a good battle, he held his own and showed up his father.
It didn't make sense why his mother wasn't more impressed!
They were also a bunch of teens and his loser of a father. "The weakness of Angwai's Emperor was to blame for that." Not his mother, the Empress was a flawless warrior weakened by her useless mate.
Females? With a raised eyebrow ridge he added, "You could have had all of them, you'd just send them back." Snorting at the very idea of it, why would any clan want one of his sisters?
Rolling back his shoulders he added, "This is MY territory. I claim it in my clans name!" His if it was hers then she lost it by virtue of not defending it. That was almost impressive, if it hadn't come from him. The question was, was this one a spit-fire enough to entice to stay? Coiled at ease, she was ready to fight if she had to, but was more interested in if this one figured out that she had no hood.

Kahina seemed to drip with sarcasm as she very fragrantly rolled her eyes. It was the sort of thing children would say (not that her own reaction was particularly mature). Oho~? It seemed like she'd said something that irritated him. Good. Smirking, she raised a hand to casually play with a piece of hair hanging near her cheek.
"If ya consider utter defeat 'holdin' your own,' then yeah, I guess you'd be right." She shrugged, her smirk holding out. "Why should our clan risk its safety over somethin' stupid that ain't even our problem? It was a gesture of goodwill, if anythin'. Not that the lot o'you deserved even that much. What a pity. At least I took down a harpy in the process." there was venom in that statement directed sorely at him, intentionally meant to provoke him. It was a tactic taught to the middle-to-low position females of the clan; males were always quick to anger, after all. Most of their kind were. And ones that were angry were all the easier to read and manipulate. It was an essential skill for the ones that lacked top-tier fighting abilities.
Cackling, she crossed her arms. "Send em back? Why? Even if they ain't your top females, I'm sure our males would relish the thought of multiplyin'. Strength in numbers, wouldn't ya say." A paused. "Maybe we'd send 'em back after a couple of clutches, after they outlived their use. Or, better yet, we could always push the trash off to another clan to be used as cheap breedin' stock." Baring her fangs, she softly added in one further jab she was sure would piss him off.
"Bet that empress o'yours would look quite the sight after our males had their way with 'er; wonder how long she'd last? You know what they say?" She made eye contact with him as she finished, unflinching, daring him to come.
"If done at the right time, a female can produce a clutch from many males; do you suppose we could get her to have one with four... five...? Sixxxx...?" A throaty hiss escaped from her as she finished, her body tense and alert.

Utter defeat? Had she even been to the same battle he had? It was his mother, the great Empress she was, battling an entire hall of harpy and other food. She was held back by his pathetic father and his teenage siblings, "Your clan might have well not even been there, for what good it did! Mine did more damaged and held out longer than yours! Taking down a harpy isn't impressive, my teenage sisters managed that one." They showed up and turned tail like cowards. What was the point to even show up? Besides he went after the biggest ugliest of the birds hat gave his own mom trouble.
Irritation drained from him replaced by utter confusion. "Males can't force a female to do anything or harm them." The lessons of his life conflicted with the taunts and the poor hamster running the wheel had stopped to. "Can they?" He wasn't even able to get mad about his mother, to busy trying to figure out how the males were able to do that.
His mom would turn them into stew, most of his sisters probably would as well. But females were the top of the clan, right? Mystic stopped being amused about the time she started talking about forced breeding. Even worse was she was giving Takshaka ideas. The very idea of a clan like that was infuriating.
"Your clan isn't worth being called a clan!" The outburst flew so suddenly it surprised even Takshaka. Moving with purpose she got in front of the Emperor and glared down the mouthy female. "You aren't impressing anyone with your cancerous poor excuse for a clan. Any Empress that allows that doesn't deserve her hood. Our clan of two out matches that diseased pit." How could she call herself a naga and be proud that exists in her clan?
What sort of weak females exist there? None that belong here, any entertaining thought of allowing her into the clan died. Now she just wanted her gone and to get sense back into the emperor.

"Huh?!" an eyebrow shot straight up as this less than expected retort. "The actual hell? The hell's the matter with you?! If he's strong enough, a male can do whatever he damn well pleases; if a female's stronger, then she can neuter the idea on'da spot. That's the law o'the land! The only way to survive out 'ere!" Her eyes narrowed.
"Use or be used! That's it. The strong command, the weak submit. If one's gettin' a head on'em, ya put em in their place; if you ain't to par, you seek out protection from those who are. Figure out your place in the hierarchy and stick to it for your own good."
"Usin' sex as an excuse is just a pile o's**t. Disgusting." From her expression, she truly was disgusted from her very core. He should have been an emperor, right? He had the hood and all. Why the hell was he letting such strength go to waste? The Angwi really was a pile of rejects from what this shown. Their leaders were strong, rivaling even her own's in strength despite their young age, and they'd managed to produce another hooded one in their first clutch. To think it held such a restricting ideology though... There was no room for growth.
Glaring at the female who came before her, she made a 'tch'-ing noise. "What, so now the little 'Emperor' back there can't even speak for himself anymore? The hell; how is that supposed to make his clan strong?! I don't see no hood on you; what're ya, some b***h takin' advantage of that stupid mantra of his, EHHHH?" This had somehow gone beyond just them getting into her hunting ground. It had gotten on her personal nerves. Looking at the male again, she raised her voice. "Don't just stick some female on a pedestal because she happened to be born one! If she ain't strong, she ain't worth your respect. If she ain't worth respectin', she's 'bout as good as swine."
Just like her. She wasn't strong, so she was useless. That was why the males never approached her with gifts for her affection. Why the females ignored her. Why she could spout such nonsense without batting an eye. To her, this was the absolute truth

Coiled back, the hooded male tried to digest a completely different world view than his own. "Empresses are stronger.." the made the rules, Momma's rules were law. It had always been law. Here she was telling him things weren't that way at all.
It was easy to let Mystic take charge of this one as his own battle was internal."You don't live in a clan." Mystic spat out infuriated by her very world view. No wonder this clan did so poorly when it came to the harpy fight. Working on her response, something the other said did catch her and cause a reaction. Mystic had to pat her smooth purple hair. The only empresses she'd ever seen didn't have much hair at all. Loose her good looks for powers she already had? Pah.
Much like the other's stance when they first met her, Mystic had the back of her hands against her waist. "There is no cause for respect in the way your clan operates, explains why you turned tail so quick. Your males have no respect for females, and the females don't respect each other. A clan does not exist as users. All that can do is rot out and get taken over by a clan that can actually function together." Looking back at Takshaka she just shook her head and looked back again, "If someone thinks they can beat me for Empress, they are welcome to try. I don't need a hood to make this clan better. An Emperor needs and Empress." Unspoken judgement against the young female spoke of her views of the other.
"Food doesn't deserve respect, but sisters stand together and any male willing to watch a female clan member harmed outside of sparing isn't a male. There is no place in this clan for that weakness." Once this clan got up and running, first duty was to take that clan out. Its one thing to think of food that way, but a complete other to speak of a fellow clan member the same way.
Dismissed and done with the weaker female, all Mystic wanted to do was go back and relax, let this one go back to that pit.

"Are they really? Use that harpy-feathered brain o' yours and tell me why then, an' it better not be just cause they're a fem--"
She had a mind to keep on going, but this damned female cut her off and was going on an on like she had the whole damned Dragnid figured out. Oh she was infuriating! Disgusting. "Don't you try an' act like you know a damn thing 'bout my clan. Unlike whatever rotten log you lot seem to have crawled out from, we actually earn our respect; it ain't no cherry-picked, bestowed right." she crossed her arms, eyes narrowing. "It's a privilege dammit."
"Clan? Oi ain't that a riot how you keep goin' on about that! What clan?" the laughter she'd been letting out cut off immediately as she scowled. "An Emperor don't need s**t. If he wants an Empress, he can go an' get himself a damn Empress. Far as I can tell all you're doin' is holding back his potential; tellin' him what to do, what to think, all for your sole benefit, 'cause it ain't for his. What hypocrisy!"
Ignoring Mystic at this point, she addressed the male directly, attempting to make eye contact. "You really want to let this b***h keep tellin' you what to do? Pitiful. You lot can revel in your clanless misfortune 'til the beasts feast on your rottin' carcasses." She looked truly disgusted by the pair before her.

There was something rolling around up there, memories of his mother ruling his clan with pride. His sisters were nothing but his mother was the pedestals from which all others fail to even touch. "An emperor is now, and Empress is the future, eyes out and eyes in. No amount of strength protects a weak clan. The only one to strengthen the clan is the Empress.." It was unfortunate then that his mother was forced to do both because his father was so weak.
The battle would have been won if his father had been half the naga his mother was. Rolling her eyes Mystic coiled back, this child wasn't worth being riled up over. Her world view was so polluted one could only imagine how toxic her clan structure was. That empress, if she existed, didn't deserve her hood. "Privilege? Drop a boulder on your nest and every sad little worm would scatter. You earn respect by hunting, sparing and collecting trophies. There are reasons we clan up instead of hunt lone, reasons you can't fathom."
This was wasting her breath, more for the emperor then for the child. Even though said emperor was clearly losing interest. Twitching an eyebrow, Mystic had to resist swatting him with her tail. "Clans are only as strong as their weakest link and it sounds like your clan ravels in creating weak links." In an attack those weakened females would be useless, and a male only in it for the breeding has no reason to stick around and fight.
This girl didn't have what it takes to lead a clan, no brains in that little head of hers. If she thought about it even for a second, but that was asking too much of a parroting child.
"You think small game, hatchling. Have you ever seen a balanced Empress and Emperor in battle?" Probably not, no strong empress could hold over that clan. It was the clan she left that proved what power meant. The naga could be so much more if they didn't have to battle two fronts.
There was no point in mentoring the worm, she had no potential to think. For Takshaka's sake, there was no reason to inform her that none of this was her doing. That mother of his messed the boy's head up into noodle. Well, that was if his head was ever right in the first place. For his part, the now bored and irritated emperor had one question, "Do you think you could do better?" Not that he wanted another one to hang around and squawk like par of harpies he couldn't eat. Both should go away, but that didn't seem to be in the cards. Mystic looked down right horrified at the question, her arm falling from its crossed position as she stared at him a moment. The desire to tail whip him was about as much as she could handle.

This female knew nothing. This male even less.
Sure, they weren't all strong in her clan, but simple strength alone meant nothing; the Angwi had made clear of that in their failure. The clan had grown pampered and arrogant, and thus they fell when they should not have. They lacked the instinct for survival this hellhole brought and an awareness of their individual strengths and weaknesses.
In her clan, all were painfully aware of how weak each was.
She was painfully aware of her weakness.
But by being aware of that weaknesses, they could account for it. Adapt to it.
Survive.
She, too was growing bored and had a mind to try and lure a couple of dragnid beasts this way when the male posed a simple question.
Do you think you could do better?
Oh how that one line sent her competitive blood into a boil, bringing a cruel smirk to her lips as she crossed her arms. Seeing the look on that female's face sent the heat straight to her head. It was obvious that she was weaker than the female; this entire conversation had been a bluff, an attempt at intimidation to try and have them leave without a direct confrontation. She was weak, but she could talk a big enough talk to pretend she was anything but. It was always walking a delicate line of provocation, but she was generally able to get away without hardly a scratch if it failed. <******** if I know; it ain't somethin' I ever considered doin' before."
With that the corners of her lips twisted up into a twisted smile - was this her real smile - as a fiery aura seemed to radiate from her. It wasn't malicious as the one earlier, but simply competitive.
"But I could damn well try."

Takshaka eyed her for a few more minutes, the attitude was dropped and for the last few minutes she wasn't so bad. Maybe if there was another one Mystic could hiss at someone else for a change. So long as they don't unite this could actually work.
He needed to get stronger so he could challenge his father and beat him. Two annoyances working to watch the territory would give him more time.
Balancing this thought with the previous, the emperor settled completely back showing a more relaxed posture, "Fine with me, join Panzer and prove it." Or leave, either works he had hunting to do and if there was another mouth to feed it would be better to know now. More of the trophies he saved for his mother might need to be given away with another female joins.
That was great, time to work extra hard. Mystic was silent, jaw slack with shock. What was he doing?! She'd dismissed the hatchling and he just invited her to join? "What?!" Did he seriously make a call without her counsel? This thing risked upsetting her power. At one point there was potential but with all her non-sense spouting it was more like she'd undo her work.Flatly unconcerned with her protests, Takshaka partly turned to leave only waiting to hear her answer or for her to leave entirely. Daisicle What does the young snake chose?

Normally such a decision would require careful consideration about the costs versus the benefits of leaving one clan for another. How would this work? Was this even a proper male? What about shelter and other living necessities? What of her clan and family?
However, this situation was anything but normal.
Her smirk turned playful as she watched Mystic's reaction, wholly satisfied. With the heat and endorphins flooding her head from having survived that situation (and perhaps ended with the best possible outcome), the choice was clear. She was on top of the world right now and was gonna keep riding this wave. If it didn't work out, she'd just make up some story about dragnid beasts or something and head back to the Kisuni later.
"I mean, if you insist~☆"
Her tone was almost cheery as she sneered at Mystic, not breaking eye contact as she quickly slithered to the other side of this hopeless male, clearly taunting the older female. "Let's get along, shall we?"

Everything between the two were their own deal, females looked after themselves and all he had to do was defend the clan territory. Only question now was how disagreeable the two would end up. For once in his life, he questioned his own infallible sanity.
Nothing for it now, she was part of the clan until the Empress kicked her out. There was no Empress, how could any compare to his mother?
Another mouth to feed and adorn, there was that red harpy feather he had saved from an earlier encounter, it would do. Giving her a nod and fully settling his hood back, Takshaka mentioned, "We have the shelter by the water source, Mystic set it up." He waved towards the fuming naga behind them.
Had it been up to him, there would have hardly been more than a pile of leaves. Oh no, the first female wouldn't have it. She said it had to be a proper shelter for warmth, dry and store trophies. Only one part of that made any sense. The pile he had going to impress his mother needed to be kept in good care.
With that, he started off towards their shelter.Too angry to speak, Mystic could hardly believe her ears. Since when did that lump of damaged mommas boy make a call without her? Then that twisted hatchling had to smirk like she got away with some great game.
Just about then, her eyes widened as it started to dawn on her. The way that eggshell princess looked at her and spoke to Takshaka. Oh no, no no no no! That child did not just out play her!
Sputtering hisses followed as her eyes narrowed. Fine, you want to play games, she'd play games. Question was, was her pride worth keeping closer to the touched emperor?
Only soothing thought she had was the child would go running back to mommy before the next moon. Lowly a threat hissed out, "I am watching you little egg."
