She had napped. And she had not woken up late, thanks to the half dozen alarms she had put on her phone to make sure she got up on time. There was no way in hell that Kari was going to ever be late for her meetings with Epidote. Not now, not ever again. There was far too much at stake.
As the super senshi made her way to their meeting point, she idly wondered…dreaded? Hoped? If Stella was going to be there…Honestly, she wasn’t sure she could deal with the both of them right now, and besides, Epidote had seemed angry the last time she had mentioned the other agent, so she wasn’t in any hurry to bring her up again. Not in front of Epi, at any rate.
She arrived at the rendezvous point fifteen minutes early and was relieved to realize that fact. At least…at least tonight nobody would die because of her. Unless he broke his promise…which that was always something that could happen…he had done it the last time…he crushed the starseeds and…
No.
No she wasn’t going to think of that. She couldn’t change what happened…she could only do her best from here on out to make sure it didn’t happen again. Hopefully.Ghouliboo I hope this is okay, I can change it if you don't like it

Captain Epidote was in a delightful mood. He was taking his time making his way to the park, boots feeling lighter than ever before. The previous week had only improved as the days passed on since he'd last left Sailor Kari alone on the playground. He'd not only met his quota for the week (or two weeks, seeing as Kari's contribution had provided a week's worth in itself!) but he'd managed to score himself a lady's number (not that he really knew what to do with it, now that he had it) and a job interview with the local Gamestop at the mall (which he also had no clue what to do with, but it sounded fairly adultish). The aura met him before green eyes laid sight on the girl in the park. He knew she'd come - she didn't want to disappoint him, after all. Epidote had watched the news for any blurb on the murdered child and mother but it apparently lacked the scandal that the other crimes about Destiny City had that evening. Pft. Whatever. He'd just do better next time. There only appeared to be one aura, which was a relief in itself. If she'd been stupid enough to bring backup, he'd be out in a flash - but then again, she wasn't smart enough to bring someone else, either. Poor, poor little Kari. His voice rang out as he passed from the grass onto the playground gravel, the rocks crunching beneath his boots as he drew closer to the woman standing at a distance. "Did you miss me, sweetheart?"

Kari stood up when he arrived and swallowed hard. She wasn’t quite sure how to answer that question, figuring she would be mocked no matter her reply…honestly if there was one things she regretted about all of this was the fact that she had seemingly turned Epidote into a monster…the monster of her nightmares, honestly.
“Not really, but that doesn’t really matter. I’m here all the same.” Her voice sounded tired even to her own ears and there was no hint of any sort of smile on her face.
She wished that she had kept at least a little of her old…charm? Something. Spirit maybe, but honestly she felt as though the old Kari was gone forever, and now she was nothing more than…what had he called her last time? An energy slut. Yes, that was about all she was. She hadn’t left her apartment in days, had hardly been eating and sleep was about all she could muster the energy to do.
So she was a depressed energy slut, but, it wasn’t as though she liked this…she just didn’t want anyone to get hurt. Again.
“I made sure to sleep before coming here, so there should be plenty for you to take, Epidote.”

"You know, if you're going to act all sullen and sad about it, this won't be fun for either of us." Well, that wasn't exactly true. Epidote planned on having fun, regardless, but having some simpering little crybaby for an energy source was annoying, to say the least. Where was the spark? The excitement? The resistance? Granted, she'd resisted once and it had cost him dearly. No, maybe resistance was too strong of a word - but having her standing over there glowering did nothing to entice his playful side. Boots closed in the distance between them as one glove moved out to take hold of her arm. His grip wasn't rough, but it was firm as he moved to stand behind her. "Can't I even get a smile? Surely you gave one to Themisto earlier before you came here, right?" He offered a wicked grin at the mention of the senshi's boyfriend. It delighted him to no end, knowing the pompous jerk was receiving payback... even if he didn't realize it yet.

“I don’t understand what you want from me, Epidote. I’m just here to give you energy, not to amuse you. That wasn’t part of the agreement.” Kari didn’t quite like him behind her like that, but she kept her discomfort quiet, flashing what she hoped passed for a smile, though it didn’t last for more than a moment or two.
“You’re assuming I spoke to him at all since the last time I saw you. For your information, not that you need it, I haven’t. I haven’t really talked to anyone. Haven’t felt up to it.”
She didn’t want to let him know how upset he had made her with the death of those two civilians…but she wasn’t going to just lie and say she was fine either. If she did that…what would stop him from just killing more people just to see what would break her? That seemed like something this…this psycho would end up doing.
“I do have a lot to get done tonight…so if you just…just wanted to take the energy now and us not talk…that would be great…”

He frowned and the grip on her arm got tighter as a result. "You have plans for tonight? What in the world makes you think that you'll have enough energy to do anything after I'm through with you?" It was true - he'd been assumptive in thinking about Themisto, though he couldn't help but secretly crow to himself over the notion that she was even avoiding him because of Epidote's presence. Assumptions aside, though, she was getting sassy with him and he found the grin curling back across his face. "Maybe I planned on keeping you busy for a while. What then, baby doll? You gonna try to escape?" His other hand rose up and he moved to pluck one of her hair ties out from her short bob, as if to prove that he could do whatever he felt like, whenever he felt like it. The hand on her arm slowly began to seep the energy out from her skin, the blonde Captain musing softly into her ear, "Y'know, for someone who works for the Negaverse now, you don't act very grateful that I'm sparing the lives of several people, tonight."

Kari made a sound that was almost, but not quite a scoff and tried to shift her arm so it was at a more comfortable position. “Maybe I’ve stocked up on energy drinks so my life can go on, maybe I’ll just drink a few cans of Monster to fill my night with them, since I’m already hanging with the biggest monster that’s out there.”
She was almost surprised with the bite that her words still managed to have, honestly, she had figured that there was no fight left…figured that…
No. He was right. People weren’t dying tonight because she was here. Because she was being a good girl and listening to what this…this a*****e wanted. “I don’t…I don’t work for the Negaverse…I just help you out. Because I have no other choice.”
She didn’t work for the Negaverse…that would make her a traitor. This was just duress. She was under duress and she was doing what she had to do.
That was all.
Right? That was all.
Kari’s nose wrinkled as her pigtails fell away, her hair tickling her neck. “Really? You ******** up my life and you have to ******** with my hair too? I hate it on my neck.” There. She definitely sounded pissed now.

"You should probably work on your comebacks, baby doll. I think you've been hanging around your lame a** boyfriend; his sense of humor seems to be rubbing off on you." She was irritated that he was playing with her hair - good. At least it was invoking some kind of reaction out of his wilting flower. The hand that twisted the tie around its fingers moved into her hair, stroking it gently as his pressed closer to her face, resting nearly cheek to cheek with her. "You do have a choice, Kari. That's the most wonderful part about it. You choose to work for me - the Negaverse - for the sake of your own conscience. You don't owe anything to these people, but you have your cute little heart set on saving strangers who wouldn't do the same for you, when push comes to shove." The first energy orb was nearly gathered, Epidote adding a little extra to the first orb's size, just for fun. "They'd sell you out in a heartbeat to save their own life - and you'd risk yours for them?"

For a moment, Kari wasn’t quite sure what to say. It was a strange question, in all honesty, and she didn’t see the purpose behind him asking it. “So, Epidote, you’re telling me you’d just not work for you? You’d just let people die?” The fingers in her hair felt nice and she almost relaxed with the touch, but instead gritted her teeth slightly and tried to not get distracted.
“Because if that’s what you’re saying, I suppose you’re right. Why am I bothering myself with their lives? Fine. You wanna kill them? Then kill them. Why should I care.” But she did still care, and even though that feeling of caring was fading…and quickly…it was still there and the senshi faltered for a minute. “Maybe I won’t come to our meetings anymore. Maybe I’ll just let you kill them. I’m more important than they are, after all. I should be worrying about me, not about people I don’t know.”
But that just…sounded so selfish and awful.
And as much as she wanted it to be the truth, she knew she’d be back. Kari didn’t have it in her to abandon people. It wasn’t fair to them.

"Oh? Is that what you really want, Kari?" An eyebrow arched as she worked on calling his bluff - or tried to call it, at least. Epidote didn't believe for a moment that she was willing to let other people suffer for her own comfort. It wasn't in character for her - not for any goody-goody little senshi - to not play the part of a martyr with a bleeding heart. Of course she'd be back. He'd seen the way she'd looked at him after their last meeting and the way her eyes had lingered on the bodies that had been left in his wake before. Strangers were just that - strangers. The less you thought about them, the less important they became. It was the way he had to look at things online; trolls went out and trolled to gauge a reaction - you had to ignore the people that didn't matter because at the end of the day, they didn't matter. Releasing his grip on her entirely, he tossed the single orb into the subspace, disappearing with a golden flash. "Alright then, if that's how you feel - be my guest." Both hands rose and he made a shooing gesture. "Take off. You're relieved of your services. I'll find my starseeds and energy elsewhere, as soon as you're gone."

Kari stared at the captain for a long minute, her mind struggling to really catch up with what was going on. “So. You’re serious. If that’s how you really feel, then don’t get pissed at me when you end up getting into trouble for chasing me away again.”
She crossed her arms over her chest, scowling as much as she could and took a step away from him. “I don’t care about them. They mean nothing to me, so, if you feel like really working for your energy, fine. Have fun.”
Of course, the idea of people dying was utterly terrible, and her hands began to tremble after only a few moments of resolve, but the only thing to do about that was press her arms closer to herself and scowl even harder. “I can’t change the world. If I give you, or Stella or that other guy that I gave energy to, there will still be dozens? Hundreds? More of you…you creeps taking energy and starseeds from everyone else! And who even knows what you do when I’m not around. You’re enough of a…of a scumbag that I bet you just like to kill people. It makes you feel big, doesn’t it? Well…you’re not. You’re just a jerk. And…I’m enabling you. And I’m done. So. Goodbye.”
Kari felt as though she had said all that she could, and she really wanted to just go, but her insides now felt like lead and she was pretty sure there was going to be vomit in her future, and she could only hope to throw up right on the stupid captain in front of her.

"I'll be sure to leave you your starseeds weekly, then. You know, in your honor, since you're no longer obligated to show up." He was thin-lipped, the strain of his concern only showing near the corners of his eyes as he watched her react to his proposition. She wasn't waffling, but he noted that her hands were shaking. Perhaps he hadn't given her enough credit - she wasn't as weak as he'd taken her for. Her words replayed themselves in his head - wait, there was a third person? "You've been donating to more than just Stella and me?" The question seemed to spawn from genuine surprise, followed by a rough laugh. "So you really are an energy slut. Wow. Here I thought I was special, baby, and I find out you've been cheating on me this entire time?" Taking a step forward, his hands moved to cross over his chest in mimic of her own movement as he peered down at the brunette. Her hair tie was still wrapped around his wrist - a souvenir for the time being. "So who's the new man?"

Kari scoffed. “It was before you or Stella. I don’t even know where he is or what’s going on. I’ve just.” She shook her head. “You know, it’s really none of your business. None of my life is any of your business. I am not an energy slut, I was just trying to help people in the only way that I could think of. And now, thanks to you, I’ll make sure to bash in some heads now. You wanted me to work with the Negaverse? Make things easy on you? Well, you ******** that up, Epidote.”
She had to swallow hard, looking up at the blonde captain. Her stomach was churning and she really thought her dinner was coming back to say hello. “When you’re trying to find someone else to drain from, remember that you could have had it easy, and when people are kicking your a**, remember that this is all your fault.”
Her hands were clenched into fists, arms still held tightly over her chest and the world seemed to spin ever so slightly. “If you hadn’t been such a jerk, you could have had me. So, just…get lost. Leave your starseeds wherever you want. Shove some up your a** for all I care.”
Because she couldn't afford to care anymore. It was them, or her...and right now, she just wanted it to be her.
Screw them. Screw everyone else.

"Are you implying that I couldn't have you, if I wanted you?" He scoffed as his head tilted, ignoring the fact that his unruly blonde hair was becoming exceedingly unruly as several strands fell in front of his face. "It's cute, you acting tough and all. You'll figure it out soon enough, once you realize it's inevitable. The human condition demands, demands, demands and you can only give, give, give until you've given everything you've got." Eyes narrowed before one glove finally moved up to brush his hair out of his face. "I'm proud of you, honestly. Figuring out that you can't make a difference, that you're being taken advantage of by a city that won't do you any favors for your sacrifice. Just puts you one step closer to joining the right side of the fight." He stepped forward, moving until he was shoulder to shoulder with her, the fabric of his uniform gently brushing against her fuku as he leaned over. "Maybe once you've joined the winning team, you'll realize that I'm not as much of a jerk as you took me for." Epidote's face softened slightly as he reached up to tuck a brown curl behind her ear, the length uneven from his earlier playing. "At least with us, there's more of a reward for performance. So give me a call, once you get things figured out, baby doll." With that last comment, he was gone, abandoning her once again to the same empty playground as he'd done before.

Kari didn’t have a chance to say anything, perhaps due to the fact that she didn’t know how to respond to what he said, and by the time she figured out a good comeback, he was gone. It took a good few moments of her standing there, confused, strangely lonely before she finally fully realized that he wasn’t coming back, and when that got through her head, she began to tremble and had to sink down onto the nearest bench.
She buried her face in her hands and sighed. Maybe he was right. Maybe she was just losing herself, maybe if…
No. No this was no way to think. She was done with this. With helping the Negaverse…She was done with being a doormat…but…
But…that was a thought for later, tonight she just…she just wanted to go home now.
She just felt…done.
