Solomon sighed and sat down on the bench. He always hated assignments that you had to get to know your classmate. However they often turned mean when they met the fallen hybrid. Something about how he took things too seriously and he was boring. The problem was he got plenty of socialization with his family and well he didn't see the merit in hanging out with them or trying to explain himself to his classmates that hated him anyways.
Unfortunately you couldn't say that to a teacher. So here he was waiting for his partner to show up. His section of the class had gotten the zoo as a meeting point and for some reason his partner was late.

Viaresu was running late. It was like everything in the known universe was out to get him. First his alarm didn't go off so he had over slept. Then the kitchen appliances stopped working and he was forced to go with out breakfast because you really shouldn't have desert for breakfast. When he finally got down to the portal, the line to use it was insane and this old grouchy nightmare was stopping everyone up.
Viaresu believed that first impressions where important, while he normally didn't care this was for a school assignment and those always went better when your partner liked you. So being late would be determental to that. Unfortunately because he was running he tripped and skinned his knee. This day was great....not.

At the sound of labored breaths, Solomon looked up from his book. It looked like his partner had finally arrived. Or well Solomon assumed that he was his partner. It was the place they had agreed to meet and they were both the same age and at the zoo. Plus with the heavy breathing, the slightly razzled appearance and the way he was leaning down to rest his hands on his knees meant the freshling had most likely run here because they were late.
Solomon did have to give them pointers for not instantly launching into excuses. They seemed to be owning up to the fact they were late. So Solomon himself would just get on with it.
" I assume you're Viaresu?" He asked.

" yeah that's me. I am guessing back that makes you Solomon Asuka right? Sorry I am late. Shall we start this assignment." Viaresu pointed out. He wasn't going to make excuses why he was late. You should own up to your actions after all. If Solomon wanted to know he would ask and Viaresu would tell him then.
"Okay so looking at this questionnaire. I guess I should start with what is your favorite exhibit here?" He started jumping right into the assignment. There were a bunch of other questions but considering he already knew how old Solomon was and what house he as in, figured he should jump into something a bit more non standard. " and I guess we're supposed to go and get pictures of this exhibit?"

An apology and then just straight to work? Solomon could handle this. In fact it was almost refreshing in a way, maybe he wouldn't be dreading this assignmnet. He nodded when Viaresu asked his name and got up from the bench, dusting himself off from the light dirt. The other hybrid was right in that they also had to take pictures as proof. While they were at the zoo rather early, he knew by now the big cats would be out.
"Favorite exhibit has to be the snow leapords. They get rather closer than the other big cats sometimes due to the construction of then enclosure and it's nice not to be able to squint and try to see where they are." Solomon answered.

Snow leopards were an interesting choice. Perhaps not one Viaresu would normally associate with the serous hybrid in front of him. He had heard of the hybrid of course. Even freshlings were known to gossip and start rumors on occasion. Personally Viaresu tried not to take too much stock in rumors. He hated most of the ones about his dad after all, however some times he supposed he couldn't help wonder for a brief moment.
" snow leopards are pretty awesome and it's not really that far of a walk to my favorite animal either so I suppose there is that. Mine is the jaguar." Viaresu answering knowing it was on solomon's list as well.

Solomon wasn't too surprised at the answer. After all cats were dangerous, powerful, and well often pretty to look at. So to here Viaresu liked jaguars want out of the norm. As they walked towards the cat alley, which was of course on the other side of the zoo, a sort of light conversation fell over them. Viaresu would ask questions from the questionnaire and Solomon would answer them. Occasionally Solomon would ask one first so that his partner wasn't doing all the work.
" ah surprisingly they aren't out yet. Then again the leopards always seem to take the longest to come out" Solomon pointed out. leopards were temperamental after all. He remembered when the female had cubs one year. It was extremely rare for a few months to see the snow leopards at all.
" do you want to see if the jaguars are out?"

Some of the answers were actually kind of surprisingly. Just from the rumors or even just looking at Solomon you would never expect half of his answers. Such he liked the supernatural and he extremely was fond of mysteries or that he liked to play the violin. Viaresu had some how managed to get an invitation to Solomon's house one day to actually hear him play.
Sure the other hybrid was a bit stiff but Viaresu was having fun. If his house wasn't so chaotic he might have even offered a visit to his own house. Maybe Solomon was just insecure and shy. Red heads were apparently supposed to be notoriously known for being introverts and maybe it was the face too. Solomon always looked serious.
"No we can wait a while. I mean we have almost all day here after all" Viaresu pointed out taking a near by seat in on bench.

Solomon joined the hybrid on the bench and stared at the enclosure. Today had been surprisingly toerable. Perhaps, by the end of their association he could say he had fun. Viaresu hadn't once tried to insult him or make fun of him. In fact he followed along with the topics Solomon had brought up. He looked down to where his hands where laying on his lap. It would be something he could tell his mother at breakfast tomorrow, perhaps maybe he could even turn Viaresu into a friend.
Other than family, he didn't really have any one he could call a friend. "Okay, then we'll wait"

Viaresu nodded, leaning back in the bench. it wasn't that's long of a wait. There was a shuffling of the the inside cage door being open and the two leopards came out. One sat up on the rock farthest from them. Obviously catching some rays but the other one prowled around the enclosure until it found that Rocky edge at the wall of the cage. They were mere feet from it and Viaresu had to smile.
" you know when I come the leopards are always the farthest away from our viewing port they can be. You are right seeing it up this close is rather amazing." Viaresu admitted. Solomon just gave a smug smile and Viaresu just had to laugh. This would definitely be an investing trip.
