Physical Description: Pele has long red hair and bright amber eyes. Her skin is medium dark. She is tall and lithe, with a slender athlethic figure.
Personality: Pele is definitely not a model citizen. Loose morals were a part of her upbringing. They were raised in an environment where dishonesty and crime weren't punished, but rewarded. The better the con, the more you were praised. And Pele loved being praised. She has no real disdain or malice in her heart, but she views nearly everyone as a potential mark. Conning someone doesn't stop her from liking them, just like the fact that you're her friend won't stop her from robbing you if she sees the chance. She is secretly delighted when people are able to fool her as well, and she goes back and forth with some of her less-reputable friends from the circus, always trying to out-trick or out-cheat the other.
When it comes to true crime though (and not just card cheats or nicking her friend's stuff), there are clear boundaries. You don't con your own kind. That was beaten into them as much as their thieving and rapscallion ways. She considers the circus her family, and is loyal to them, to an extent. If she ever saw a really great opportunity to profit off their backs... She would have to think about it. But in the end, she would probably not follow through. Circus folk stick together. She feels a certain aggression towards outsiders who try to pull them apart. Threats aside, though, Pele is less reclusive than many of their occupation. She truly enjoys meeting and drinking and dancing with the people from the Holds they visit, even if she often ends up robbing them by the end of the night.
Pele is rarely satisfied where she is. Always striving for more, she's surprisingly ambitious for a street urchin and surprisingly industrious for a thief. She often has multiple business ventures going on at once, some legitimate, some less so. She's a careful person who doesn't like to put all her eggs in one basket. She'll never bet on a game she hasn't already rigged in her favor.

History: Pele is one of a number of street urchins that were taken in by the travelling circus. Lost and separated from her parents, she wound up begging on the streets of an unfamiliar Hold. And, when that proved to be largely unprofitable, stealing. When the circus rolled into town, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to loosen the pockets of some unsuspecting victims. She stole a coin purse right off a man's belt, but when she looked inside after running away, despite feeling marks in there before, the purse was empty. When she turned around, the man was there behind her. Instead of getting angry, he pulled a mark out of ear and gave it to her- then offered her a job.
Though she looked at the man as a kind of mentor, she didn't end up taking magic as a study. Instead she learned sleight of hand to continue her pick pocketing ways, while practicing dance and acrobatics as a performer. It would be many turns before the untrained street brats would be allowed to take part in a real performance (though she continued to earn her keep in other ways) and during that time Pele was able to try her hand at a number of different acts until she found her calling.
A bit of a pyro, she began to train in earnest as a fire spinner, loving anything that had to do with fire, and enjoying the thrill of performing. On the side, though, crime and thievery remained her true talents. Working with a partner, she began to execute various cons, from false fortune telling scams to the fiddle game. She found her niche after she was lucky enough to bond a gold flitt and began selling flitt eggs on the side. She kept some for herself and began to train them as well, wicked cogs already turning in her brain. She trained many of her flitts to steal for her, as well as starting a number of flitt-based cons as well.
Pele continues travelling with the circus to this day. Since thread's return, she does what she can for their small contingent, training her firelizards to help alongside the dragons.
