Things had just been weird. That was all there was to it. Things were weird and Whisler had no idea how to really deal with them at the moment...not that he really felt like dealing with them at the moment either...but hey. He sat, his hair flowing down the plastic sliding board, the gems threaded in it glinting in the yellow light that came from the lone streetlamp in the park.

He sighed loudly, annoyed with how quiet it felt tonight. He wasn’t in the mood for quiet...he was in the mood for...well. For something. Anything really. Perhaps tonight was a night to call Virell over? Or maybe see if perhaps Arias wanted to hang out…? Eh. No. THere was just too much drama in that.

After letting loose another loud sigh, Whisler closed his eyes and rubbed them, just feeling tired. He knew what he wanted…who he wanted but. Hey. There was no miracle that could provide that, he was sure. But…

Opening his eyes, the knight frowned slightly. There was someone chaos like coming near him...of course. It didn’t matter. They were weaker than he was. There was no point in moving at all. He could take care of them if it came to it. He could take care of almost anything. Anything but, you know. Life. Life was hard.

“Every time I run into you, you’re wearing a long face. We should stop meeting like this,” called a voice behind him; after his last run-in with Whisler, he had a bit more confidence when it came to running into the more powerful Knights. He’d taken a chance approaching this energy signature—and it was paying off.

He had wanted it to be Whisler.

Amesite approached, a kind looking smile on his face. He stood at the base of the slide the Knight was lying upside down on tilted his head as if that would help him understand what was going on a little better. "You look like you're having...fun."

No, he didn't.

"Actually. You look like you need to borrow an ear and I just so happen to have two. You wanna talk?”

Opening an eye, Whisler looked at the owner of the voice and almost smiled when he saw Amesite. Not quite who he had wanted to meet up with…but close enough. Sort of.

“Of course I’m having fun. Don’t you like to revisit your childhood and all that jazz and play on playgrounds?” He let his eye close again and shrugged slightly, then shook his head so his hair danced a little and the gems glinted in the light. There was no use in not showing off a little. He had the stuff to show.

“You keep finding me, I see. I hope you’ve had time to see that you’ve made a terrible decision and you’re ready to purify out of that horrible Negaverse. I reckon I have a better idea of how to help you now, on account of I just helped someone else leave not too long ago, so I’m sure I could help you too, if you’re ready.” Whisler let his arm flop down off of the slide, wriggling his fingers and seeming to want Amesite to take his hand. Or food. Perhaps he just wanted food. It was pretty unclear.

Amesite tilted his head slightly and contemplated. “I didn’t spend a lot of time on the playground, unfortunately.”

Not public ones, at least. Most of his playtime was spent trying to improve himself, somehow. But personal information wasn’t meant to be divulged so early in any sort of relationship.

“Truly, I can’t see you as a grubby little child, Whisler. You’re far too elegant. Unfortunately, my mind hasn’t yet been changed about the Negaverse.”

He reached his hand down to take Whisler’s hand, wriggling his fingers to match the Knight’s. “You’ve avoided my question, though. Is everything all right or do you have something on your mind?”

“Well. Clearly you just need to get out more. Hanging upside down on the slide is great for your mind.” Whisler’s fingers slipped easily between Amesite’s and finally he allowed a smile to play across his lips. “Well. I’ll just have to keep waiting then. I’m sure eventually you’ll get bored or unhappy, and I’ll be right here waiting.”

Gently, his thumb slid across the lieutenant’s hand and he sighed at the fact that he was wearing gloves. Way to ruin the mood. He hoped the other male’s skin was soft at least…not that he’d get much of a chance to touch it.

…not that he really wanted to touch it or anything.

“My mind is perfectly fine. I’m perfectly fine. Just...chilling. It’s a nice night to chill, I think. Besides, nothing good is on television, so honestly, I don’t have anything better to do.”

Amesite hummed thoughtfully. “Well, I’m out now, so I’ll try to make up for lost time.”

He had noticed the sigh, but it took him a good few seconds to figure out what might have caused it. Whisler was still touching his hand so, after a moment of contemplation, he carefully slid his glove off.

It was clear that Amesite must have taken good care of himself; his nails were well maintained and his skin was perfectly smooth, sans a single blemish on the side of his hand, between the pinky and wrist. It was a faded scar, and one Amesite caught with distaste, as if he had expected it to disappear while he was in this form.

“Mm. Are you telling me that the best thing you have to do on nights like these is watch television? No, no. Life as a Knight must have made you boring. Where’s your sense of adventure, Whisler?”

The glove was off…and for a moment, Whisler paused then lifted his head to look at the lieutenant, raising a brow and then shaking his head, laughing softly. “Well. Good. I guess.” He drew the hand closer, drew the agent closer and inspected it, tracing over it with gentle fingers and pausing at the scar, tracing that with his index finger, before placing a kiss on Amesite’s palm.

“I mean, what else am I supposed to do? Knit? I love it when Dancing with the Stars is on. And right now, it isn’t so. Here I am. Forced to mingle with the common folk. Common folk and chaos infected folk alike.” Whisler let his eyes close again, keeping Amesite’s hand held loosely in his own.

“Why? Don’t you watch television? You’re not a DwtS fan, hm? To be honest, I'm not either. It was just the first show that I could think of.” He was quiet for a moment. “I suppose I’m not really the adventurous type much anymore. It’s no fun to adventure alone.”

Something about what Whisler said, or perhaps even just the way he said it, struck a chord in Amesite. He seemed interested; the cogs in his mind were turning.

He tried to ignore the attention Whisler paid to his scar; it was just one more imperfection in his life. He’d have to try a stronger crème; the scar was old, he’d had it for years already but he wasn’t going to give up.

“Who said anything about adventuring alone?” he asked. With a single fluid move, he gripped Whisler’s hand tightly in his own and gestured for him to get up. It was clear he intended to help him up and he seemed to be trying to lure him to an open space away from the slide.

“Come dance with me. Whether you like Dancing with the Stars or not. It’s not quite an adventure, but it’s a start. Can you dance at all?”

He seemed genuinely curious; a smile had drifted onto his face and he seemed like he wanted nothing more than a good time. His entire demeanor was friendly enough; it was almost as if they weren’t even enemies.

But then, Whisler made the mistake of not attacking him.

The more Amesite had gotten to know him, the more he was convinced that Whisler just didn’t have it in him.

Whisler seemed surprised. He had been more than content to lay there all night if he had to, but slowly he scooched himself upright and slid down the slide, getting up, only to be led away from his perch and told that…well.

Asked to dance.

“Oh.” A laugh came from the blonde and he shook his head, seeming amused. “Nooo, you don’t want to see me try to dance or anything…I’m terrible. I have no rhythm.” There was an excited look in his eyes though…dancing sounded fun. And perhaps he did need some fun right now…and besides. It was good for Amesite. It would allow him to get to know the lieutenant better and keep trying to convince him to make the change and get out of the Negaverse before being in there changed him…

He was a really sweet guy, or he seemed like one, at least…Whisler didn’t want him to become a monster…a killer. Trapped. Whisler didn’t want anyone to become trapped. Not like he was. “…What kind of dancing did you have in mind? Nothing too fancy, okay?”
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2017 9:38 am

Amesite once more seemed bemused. “Nothing too fancy? I don’t know what counts as too fancy. Tango? Foxtrot? Salsa? Cha-cha? –What do you know how to do?”

He kept Whisler’s hand capture in his own, lacing fingers firmly. Whisler was taller, though not by much; Amesite had only to raise his eyes slightly to meet his gaze.

“I can teach you any of them, though. I don’t know any of these hip-hop dances, but I know the good ones. Here, we’ll start out slow. Put your hand on my waist,” he commanded, resting his hand on Whisler’s shoulder. He took the opportunity to brush his thumb over the Knight’s cheek while he moved, winking.

“Watch my feet. You’re my follow, so step backwards when I step forward. Your right foot is going to go back first, my left is going to go to your right of it, all right? Here.”

It was an excuse to be closer to Whisler; he moved forward, nearly chest to chest, still looking up at the man.

“I can wiggle my hips to the music sometimes. Badly. And I am great at looking like a fool.” Whisler kept his eyes on Amesite, the smile back on his face in full force. “So, you’re seriously skilled in all of those dances, hm?

He watched the darker haired male for a few moments longer and sighed, placing his hand on his waist. “So...tell me honestly. Am I the girl in this? Because, I’m going to be a little offended if you’ve made me the girl in our little dance. I’m very, very manly.”

Whisler’s eyes closed as his cheek was brushed and his heart felt as though it skipped a beat...or possibly two. “So...You step forward and...I step back. Perhaps...Maybe I’ll give it a try.”
PostPosted: Mon Jul 03, 2017 10:52 am

Amesite laughed. “It’s called the Follow, and I am the Lead. It is the easiest to teach you. After you know how the dance goes, I’ll let you lead. There doesn’t have to be a ‘girl’ in it, so feel no threat to your masculinity. I have to ask, though—you? Look like a fool? You’re far too handsome. You could fail splendidly and your good looks and charm would save you,” he assured.

He moved again, encouraging Whisler to watch where his feet were going. He spent a few seconds describing how he intended to move, and how Whisler should move to match him. Each step was slow and careful, but he kept himself pressed near to the Polaris Knight at all times.

“You’re not making a fool of yourself yet, though,” he said after a moment. “In fact, I’m rather proud of you. Not everyone is willing to try new things.”

He hoped that by being so close to the male it would simulate some sort of intimacy. There was plenty that Amesite wanted to know, wanted to discover. But more than that, plenty that he wanted to taint and twist.

He was convinced that Whisler wasn’t happy with where he was with the Knights—and if he were, why did he always seem to be brooding or pained? Amesite wanted to uproot it, wanted to see the vulnerabilities.

He wanted to bring him back into the Negaverse.

“May I ask you a personal question?” he asked, fingers squeezing Whisler’s hand just slightly.

“It’s been eating at me since we last spoke. You’re the only Knight I trust, and I was wondering…what does it mean, to you? I mean, being a Knight…what are you fighting for? What’s your end goal?”

The dancing wasn’t half as bad as he figured on it being, and being so close to Amesite...it really felt nice. The slightly unpleasant tingle of chaos felt nice. Familiar. Home. He drew in a breath, letting his eyes close again, now that he figured out what his feet were doing...it was easy.

“What it means to me? Well...that’s an interesting question. I suppose...it just means that...the people I care about stay safe. Both around me and in general...I have the trouble of caring about an awful lot of people, so...it’s important to me that I can protect them all.”

His lips were close to Amesite’s ear as he spoke, and he half hoped the other male had as many butterflies in his stomach as he did...though he figured that wouldn’t quite be the case.

God, why did he have to end up liking so many people? It was stupid. He was stupid.

Amesite hummed thoughtfully but seemed to take a moment to consider what he wanted to say. They were still moving, fingers entwined, legs entwined. “It isn’t that it doesn’t make sense, when you word it like that, but…”

He feigned further contemplation, carefully curling some of Whisler’s hair around the finger, hand still resting on the blonde’s shoulder.

“Who do you have? You must have lost so many people when you left the Negaverse. Do you have a lot of Knights, of Senshi, supporting you? A lot of friends, who just aren’t involved in this war?”

“Honestly, I don’t really remember who I left behind in the Negaverse. I lost all memories of being with the Negaverse, save for the flashes that I had remembered that one time...and they weren’t...they weren’t good flashes…”

He swallowed, the hand on Amesite’s waist curling to pull the agent closer. “I’m pretty sure I have more friends here and now, all of them are involved in all of this, all senshi and knights...they’re quite wonderful.”

There was no need to mention those that weren’t senshi and knights. No need at all. “Of course, now you and I have become friends, so I have you to worry about as well. Not that worrying about you is a bad thing. I don’t want you to get hurt, so...just be careful. You keep saying that I’m the only knight that you trust...I know that most of the others...some of them at least aren’t so eager to just talk. There’s a lot that would just as soon break your neck and be rid of one more person from the Negaverse...so, please be careful. I don't’ want anything to happen to you.”
