What a strange looking dog!
Maji crouched beneath a sparse bush, watching the dark 'pup' intently. It didn't look like any dog he's ever seen! But then, he hasn't seen a lot. Usually, he's quite happy to follow his siblings around or even his father. But he couldn't quite find them at the moment. Perhaps they were back at the den already?
It didn't matter at the moment. He was more interested in the strange looking dog. In his excitement, his tail wagged, disturbing the sparse bush that already provided little coverage. Not that Maji was paying attention, eyes completely focused on the 'pup'

The cub had snuck off from his father's usually watchful eye. The larger red lion was napping, giving Al'Fin the perfect chance to go get water for himself and get up to some mischief. Pale eyes looked back at his den as he wandered out into the dry grasses of the little area that his father claimed. He never once thought it might be dangerous to go alone to the watering hole down the way. The dark cub finally found the edge of the small hole full of muddy water and just dipped his head down for a much needed drink. Summer was hot and so boring with no other siblings or playmates around. So he sat at the edge of the water, licking his muzzle before he got a great idea. "Swim time," he murmured to himself. Crocs wren't a thing he had to worry about this far out. So the little cub dropped himself in the shallows of the water and just let out a content sigh. What a perfect way to beat the heat.

Oh, he was swimming! And it looked fun. He wiggled further a bit, inching towards the 'pup' on his stomach. It was so interesting and he really wanted to get closer. He knew he shouldn't talk to strangers... but the other 'pup' didn't look dangerous.
"HI," Maji nearly shouted, excitement amplifying his voice. He stood up tall, watching the 'pup' with barely contained curiosity and eagerness. "I've never seen a dog like you," he blurted out with a large grin. "I'm Maji! Let's be best friends, okay?" Maji was pretty proud of his proposal. He wanted to be friends with the strange pup before someone else became a best friend with him. He heard the stories and of course, that was how it worked! Everyone needed one. And he wanted this one!

All of a sudden there was someone talking to him. The cub whipped around to stare face to face at this weird looking cub who apparently was a dog and thought he was a dog. That made those grey eyes squint hard at the other as he rose to his paws. He was wary. This one didn't seem to want to hurt him, even offered his name freely, but at the same time Al'Fin didn't know what to do! Poor socialization was part of his father's specialty. "...I'm not a dog," he started off with first. "I'm a lion. ...So you're a dog and not a lion. ...Ain't you ever seen a lion before?" He knew this was the first time he'd seen a wild dog.

Maji's eyes went wide, stepping back once. A lion?! He's heard of those before! "You're a lion?! Whoa..." Maji inched closer again, eyes greedily looking over the cub. It was too amazing, he couldn't wait to tell his siblings. Now he just had to be best friends with this lion. Could he be friends with a lion, actually? Was that allowed?
"I thought lions were way bigger and looked... different. Huh." Maji was astounded. Sitting back on his hindquarters, he gave a toothy grin. "Nope, never seen one! Hey, we gotta be friends, alright? That way, no one else can be friends with you." Maji let out a gleeful cackle. "Everyone is going to be so jealous!"

He squinted at the wild dog pup and just stared at him like he was the strangest thing on this whole planet. At this moment, to Al'Fin, he was. Just so, so strange. Pale eyes cleared as Al'Fin shook his mane out of his face before he snorted. "Listen here," he started. "I'll grow! I'm not an adult yet, but one day!" That dark chest puffed out playfully and he just snorted again. "I'mma be friends with loads of others! Having just one friend is kinda lonely, you know. Like... What if you're busy? What do I do then? Nothing? Nope. I'mma make tons of friends and always have fun with them. You should to!" To the lion, it was simple logic. If you had a lot of friends, you would never be bored.

Oooh. So this wasn't a grownup. That... made a lot of sense. Maji grinned, tilting his head. He wondered how big the cub would get... Maybe huge!
His grin dropped at the refusal, frowning. It... made sense but Maji had figured he would just play with his siblings. He squinted at the cub before sighing dramatically. "Finneee," he groaned before perking up. "But we can be friends, yeah?" A wild dog as a friend was better than another cub as a friend, in Maji’s opinion. They had to be rare, right?! A thought occurred to him and he stood up quickly. ”Hey!” he yelped, a bit offended. ”You never told me your name! I gave mine.”
