Even their own rooms were dimly lit with the faint glow of red as Harper pushed the door open stepping in leaving Mial to follow her as she shoved a few things that haphazardly lay on the floor out of the way. It wasn’t as if the war clan were well known for being rather organized, and Harper had far better things to do that didn’t involve making sure her place was immaculate.

Instead she bit her lower lip and began pacing some, or at least as far as she could before running into something else, the look of concern shadowed her face as she looked back at Mial. “Something feels wrong.” The words were slow as if if she was still trying to decide to say them, or that she meant more than just the crystal breaking.

---

For a moment or two he'd just watch her pace, that same look of unease and concern on his face, but it wouldn't take long for her nervous energy to transfer, and even as she was glancing back at him he was reaching for her. His hand circled her bicep, drawing her into the circle of his arms, his chin coming to rest on the top of her head. She was so small. He often forgot, with how larger her personality could be. The over abundence of energy she could exude.

"Something is wrong." Though he probably meant the crystal, the spreading cracks that were over taking the bottom of it. Nothing like this had every happened before, he didn't think. At least not that he could remember...

And that was another point of anxiety. The spottiness of their memories. What was the incident they had heard famine whispering about, and what had happened to everyone?

---

It took a second for Harper to finally wrap her arms around his waist as he held her, she kept her face pressed into his chest trying to sort out the mess in her own head. It was all wrong, the memories, the crystal cracking, yet the only thing she felt like she could be sure of was when he held her. That had at least felt solid, like it had always been that way, or at least that way for some sort of time when things went to hell.

“I don’t like it.” Her voice was almost cracked as she said them, it was more like hated to be exact. There was no control over this, nothing that she could simply defeat, beat to death, give impression of skill to surpass it. It made her feel almost vulnerable and even worse it felt like this had happened before, the feeling of losing home.

---

Be didn't like her like this. She was such a strong made, so energetic and passionate, that seeing her as other set his anxieties into over drive. All he wanted to do was fix it, but there was no quick fix for this. If there was even a fix at all.

So he held her to him, almost crushingly tight. Giving what comfort he could in that moment. "I don't either." No less unhappy about it, but if she needed strength, he would be strong for her.

---

Harper didn’t move for a few moments, letting the pressure of Mial’s hug sink in before returning a faint squeeze of her own. Finally, looking up she let her teeth rake over her lower lip in thought before letting her cheek press to his chest. “I’m sorry, I know I should be strong, that I should be doing something then just whining or even thinking about it.” She wanted to say she must have looked like a fool and weak to him but the words wouldn’t get past her lips as she swallowed.
“We should help…”

Mial just held her, stroking her hair and the sleek feathers of her wings as she clung to him. He knew she was scared, he was scared too. Nothing like this had ever happened before, and what were they supposed do about it? How long was gathering Fear going to keep the crystal going? The stallion just didn't know.

And what if it didn't fix it? What if it just kept getting worst?

Lips pressing together, he held her a little more firmly, head turning to lay his cheek against the softness of her hair. "Yeah, we probably should." But he wasn't letting go, not yet.
