Doing her best to force her heart into a more sedate pace, Orcus pulled her knees up under her chin and stared up at the moon. She'd done the best she could to set the stage for the confrontation that she knew must be, but still. No plan ever survived the first encounter with an enemy. Which was why she'd requested backup in the form of an overly flirtatious knight.
If he got here in time anyway.
Still, Whisler had promised to help her in trying to save her cousin so she really couldn't snark too much at him. Much as she might want to.
"Okay, Alodie," she murmured under her breath as she turned her eyes to scan her surroundings. "Time to come out and play."
----------------------
It must be a trick, Strytha hissed musingly. Kadyrelite couldn't argue as she slowly turned the taunting note over in her hands, letting herself feel angry.
"Maybe so, maybe no. Either way, we both agree that I am stronger than her and that she must be... eliminated. This is likely the best chance we're ever going to get."
Even if I don't want this. Not really.
Kadyrelite kept that particular thought buried deep so the tracker youma wouldn't even sense it. She was going to be a good officer. Even if that meant killing family.
Sweet Kadyrelite makes a good point. Since you are sure, lead on, little one.
Snorting a little in amusement, the young Captain crumpled the insulting note in her hand before letting the paper go and heading into the shadows.

With all of the s**t Whisler was dealing with in his own life, he couldn’t ignore a plea from a pretty girl. Especially when that plea involved someone shedding chaos from themselves. Of course, sadly it wasn’t the pretty girl who was shedding the chaos…she was trying to save her cousin. Which was…it was noble, sure…but he idly wondered just how badly this was going to go.
You couldn’t save people from chaos…you could only help them save themselves.
He very quietly came up behind the Dark Mirror Senshi and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Hey. I’m here. Like you asked. You doing okay, Orcus? You’re really sure this is all going to work, yeah? You have a plan?”
Because…he was really kind of lost on the details…but he would help her, no matter what it cost. This was worth a high price, wasn’t it?
…of course it was. Someone in this damn city should get a happy ending, after all.

In spite of tensing slightly at the hand placed on her shoulder, Orcus managed to muster a faint smile and reached up with a free hand to pat Whisler's. He was trying. She'd give him credit for that.
"About as well as can be expected. And, hrmmm, it's less a plan and more an outline."
They were a fully capable senshi and a fancy glowing Kinght. Surely between the two of them they could rid Alodie of the monster inside. Right? Right. Of course, they might end up killing ALodie in the process, but... Orcus shook her head to dispel that little thought nugget. She had to think positively. She had to...
Orcus froze, taut nerves jangling now as a chaotic aura brushed over them.
"I believe she's arrived, my friend," she murmured to Whisler. "Help me up, please and then, then," Orcus paused, not sure how to finish the thought. After a moment, she drew a shaky breath. "Please be careful."
-------------------------------
The moment she got close enough to sense auras, Kadyrelite knew that Strytha had been correct in its guess that she'd be walking into a trap. She could feel the youma writhing within her chest, aggitation pouring out in nearly palpable waves.
Pausing in the shadows where she couldn't be seen, the Captain lightly slapped her chest, wanting Strytha's attention to be focused.
"She's up there with someone else. She's not doing a very good job of it if she's trying for am ambush. Do you think she knows we can teleport?"
She could still feel the youma's distraction, though, to it's credit, it's focus did sharpen a bit.
She did not see any teleporting when you took her to the General. How would she know? Strytha is more concerned with the other up there. They are stronger than little Kadyrelite. We are going to have to move quickly and strike hard.
Kadyrelite sensed anticipation and approved. Though there was an edge of excitement that she didn't quite understand. And if she was honest with herself, she was grateful for the youma's distraction. It meant she didn't have to wall away the despair quite so strongly.
"I can be very quick. Well, we might as well get up there. It's rude to keep Mel waiting when she's clearly worked very hard to set this up."
That said, Kadyrelite teleported and found herself suddenly standing in front of her cousin and a... knight? She ignored that fact that he glowed and focused on the tiny form of her cousin before grinning.
"Hey, Melian! I'd ask who your sparkly friend is, but I really don't care. Tell him to leave. This is between you and I."

Whisler helped the Dark Mirror Senshi up though kept his attention on the chaotic aura that they were both focusing on now…of course it didn’t really help that his ally and the enemy were of chaos…and for a moment, Whisler idly wondered if this was just some sort of impressive trap designed to ensnare him. Perhaps an order from that orange haired General King? Or something that Ashanite had cooked up?
No. That was impossible. Ashanite was far too interested in himself to send lackeys. Besides.
If Ashanite knew him at all, he should know it wouldn’t take lackeys to get him to come out.
“I am happy to introduce myself, my lady Captain, I am Whisler, Knight of Polaris, and Orcus here seems to think that you are trapped in the Negaverse, I can assure you that isn’t the case…I wasn’t trapped by them. I got out. And I’m quite sure you can too, this doesn’t have to end in any fighting, my dear.”
The fact that she had teleported to them had unnerved him just a bit, but he wasn’t going to let her know that. If anything, he had to act brave…for Orcus if not for himself.
But, if this was a trap to ensnare him…
Well. He could deal with that later.

Alodie could teleport? Somehow, in all of Orcus' planning, that particular ability had never been a factor. And this, she thought, is where all those plans just unravel. Still, if Alodie was talking rather than resorting to immediate physical aggression...
"Alodie, don't do this," she whispered, casually placing herself before Whisler. While she was grateful for his aid, she really didn't want to have him hurt or worse. "Please, Alodie, Whisler can help us. He can help you."
For half a breath, she thought she could see her cousin staring out at her from those angry, limeade eyes. And for that breath, she was certain that her poor, sweet, idiot cousin was just as scared as she was. Then, that glimpse vanished, replaced with icy scorn.
Well, so much for peacefully talking things out.
----------------------------
Kadyrelite could feel Strytha's scorn and shock when confronted by the Knight. He'd once been part of the Negaverse? He'd escaped? Deep within, she could feel the youma's hate burn. She cast a look of lost despair at her cousin even as she felt Strytha seize control of her voice.
Traitor!, the youma's voice, bursting out of the girl was harsh, sibilant and furious. How dare you turn your back on the Dark Kingdom! And you ally yourself with another traitor... Strytha will take such joy in ripping out your heart. Or better, taking you back and letting lovely Laurelite deal with you.
Kadyrelite's rib cage rippled and bulged as Strytha gave a furious wriggle, the sounds of cracking bone and ripping cartilage echoing in the night.
Then, abruptly, Kadyrelite's voice was once again her own and she responded to the youma's prodding by leaping forward, leg already swinging out in a kick. If Melian wanted to protect the knight, fine. Then, she'd get the first taste of spur.
"Sorry, Mel," she cried. "This is my duty."

Whisler was kind of annoyed when Orcus moved in front of him, and he gave the girl a rather exasperated look, reaching out for her shoulder to move her behind him when…when something happened with the Captain that made him pause.
Well now. That wasn’t normal. Not normal at all. “Interesting. Let them deal with me all you want, but I’m sorry, you’ll have to get to me first.”
There was a flash of something sharp on the heal of the Captain’s shoe, and Whisler finally pulled Orcus aside, shoving her firmly behind him. She wasn’t going to get hurt so long as he was around to prevent it. He raised his chain in the air and gave a small hiss as the spur dug into his arm, but. That wasn’t going to continue for long.
Quickly, his one hand still holding firmly to the dark mirror senshi, he began to swing the chain, tapping into his power as he did so. “You brought me here to fight Orcus, so please, let me do what I’m here for. You don’t have to protect me.”
Turning back to the Captain he tried to talk to her, not…not whatever was inside of her. “Tell me now, Captain. Do you want help?DaisyMilk When Whisler uses his Knight magic, his is given the choice to use the magnet to repel his foes, or attract his allies. The range is upped to fifteen feet due to the lengthening of the chain and the size increase of the magnet, and the maximum time he can hold the spell for is one minute. HIssing in displeasure as she was shoved back behind the Knight, Orcus let out a tiny, startled shriek when the youma spoke and Alodie's chest audibly broke. And a much louder one when Alodie attacked and she could see one of those spurs hit Whisler's arm.
"You idiot! We're supposed to do this together! You're not supposed to get hurt on my behalf!"
Voice cracking from strain, Orcus jumped a little as Whisler's grip on her shoulder tightened slightly. What was he doing...?
Then, she was witness to Knight magic. She watched as Alodie was repelled and kept at a distance from them. Okay, she had to give Whisler credit for having rather impressive defensive abilities. But how could this help?
"Tell me now, Captain. Do you want help?"
Whisler's question rang out and Orcus understand (or thought she did) why he was taking the fight in this direction. Had he seen her cousin's stricken eyes too? Moving slightly to stand at his side, Orcus added her own voice, speaking gently as she'd never done before.
"You don't have to be this, Alodie. You can purify and never have to host a monster again. Never have to hurt anyone ever again. I know you, cousin. You like silly alien theory shows on History. You like playing your guitar and relaxing. You love people and making friends. This isn't you. It's never been you, no matter how that little beast inside you tries to convince you otherwise."
She paused, trying to think of how to best convince Alodie of her sincerity. All her life, she'd had a decided lack of empathy. She was terrible at understanding emotion. Still she had to try, didn't she.
"C'mon, Alodie," she whispered encouragingly. "Let us help you. You don't have to pretend to be a monster anymore."
-----------------------
Though she'd kept quiet at Strytha rampaged within, Kadyrelite hurt. And this time, the pain was far greater than anything she'd ever felt before. Which was a testament to the youma's anger. Usually, it tried to keep her mostly whole and functional. And though she felt a small welling of pride for having struck the Knight, deep down, she was relieved when his magic kept her at a distance. She could prowl at the edges of it and try to catch her breath.
Still, Strytha raged, demanding she find a way through the magic, fight and kill. And the youma's blinding fury allowed Kadyrelite a few blessed moments to herself. Which meant, even as she paced warily, that he could hear the Knight addressing her. Did she want help? Possibly. Certainly, she didn't want to go through the rest of her life with a tiny monster inside.
She was so caught up in the Knight's question that she almost failed to hear Melian's soft voice promising a better life if she let them help. Blinking, she realized that she hadn't played the guitar in a long, long time. Nor had she exactly been free to make friends. But purification. Strytha had been the General's punishment for daring to even ask about the forbidden process.
She wanted to answer the both of them so badly, but Strytha had taken control again. And really, when it came right down to it, she was so tired of having a tiny, homicidal voice always in her head. And stealing her voice.
Stealing my life, she thought as she stopped and really felt the damage it was inflicting on her in it's anger. Surely this can't be right.
"Little Kadyrelite doesn't need help", Strtyha bellowed from within. Hissing in pain as she felt the youma extending it's barbs and tearing through muscle, Kadyrelite felt a sudden resentment of the beast. Who had died and appointed it the sole arbiter or how she felt? "She is a proud Captain of the Dark Kingdom, how dare such abominations ask if she wants your help!"
For a moment, the night stilled as slow realization that that last word had been purely Kadyrelite's. Somehow, in some way, her desperation had allowed her to rip control of her voice back from Strytha to make her plea.
"Help me, please help me," the Captain whispered feverishly, desperate to be rid of Strytha, to feel clean of soul.
And then, she shrieked in horrified pain as Strytha, burning with white hot rage, attacked her from within, determined to punish her for daring to rebel. Falling to the ground, she continued to scream even as she flailed and writhed.

Cosmos was not a force that could appear for just any occasion, but sometimes— sometimes—she could hear the desperate plea of a willing starseed. When she could manage, she never ignored them. It took only seconds for the woman to arrive in a burst of starlight; she flew through the sky and landed in a rush of pure energy. Her signature was undeniable unique, and undeniable Order. She may not have understood the entire situation, but she knew that someone was begging for her help. Cosmos was not a fighter by nature; she would not hurt anyone that she could not avoid. Her energy was best spent trying to move starseeds in the Cauldron, and help those who were lost find their way home. She did not like to fight youma, but she understood necessity. Her magic was special, unique, but it was a blinding pulse of good that flowed through the woman before her. She was going to kill two birds with one stone, if she could; she would pry the youma from her body and give her the strength to fight the Chaos altogether—if only it was a path she chose to follow.

Whisler kept his arm locked around the dark mirror senshi, though when…when she came, he was startled and his magic stopped, his weapon falling to his side, rather useless. “Oh.” So the captain did want help after all. That was good. But…
He gently pushed the Orcus behind him again. He didn’t want…didn’t want whoever this was to think she was the enemy too. That wouldn’t do, and he was feeling very protective of this girl. Softly, he whispered to her. “I think…this is a good thing. This should help her. This…is it. She’s going to be saved now…”
It wasn’t Camelot…but she felt almost stronger than Camelot so… This was good. This was an answer. He only hoped now that she was strong enough to make it through this.

Orcus' first instinct as Alodie fell screaming to the ground was to rush forward and try to help. Somehow. She froze, however, when a tall, slender woman appeared in a literal burst of starlight. Eyes wide and jaw dropping open, the diminutive dark mirror was dimly aware of Whisler grabbing her and shoving her behind him. Again.
She was getting very tired of well-meaning Knights trying to protect her.
But given the sheer amount of power this strange senshi radiated, Orcus thought that she wouldn't let herself mind being protected. Whomever this woman was, she radiated enough power to make the senshi of drowning's knees turn to jelly.
Still. "Who is she, Whisler," she hissed. "If she can help, why is she just standing there? Alodie's dying!"
Managing to escape the knight's grip for a moment, Orcus ducked around and stared unblinking at the other woman.
"Please! Can you help my cousin or not?"
-----------------------------------
Kadyrelite, for her part, wanted nothing more than for the pain Strytha was inflicting to go away. She was dimly aware of a salty, coppery taste on the tip of her tongue and realized that she'd managed to shred her throat in screaming. The stricken Captain felt her eyesight going dim and wished with all her heart that if she had to go, there was a way to bring the youma with her.
When the sky lit up and an aura so very powerful and so.. well, good appeared, she felt the youma's frenzy ceases for a few blessed moments as Strytha muttered to itself, What is this? Impossible!
Taking advantage of the vile little beast's shock, Kadyrelite managed to drag herself across the rooftop until her fingertips could just brush the tip of one of the strange being's shoe. As her vision swam, she was only aware of how brightly this person shone. Whoever it was, this was someone even Metallia might fear.
Which made them aces in Kadyrelite's books.
"Please," she whispered harshly, coughing a little and hoping that she wasn't getting whovever-it-was all speckled with blood. "Please. I... I don't want this anymore. Please..."
Kadyrelite froze, barely aware of Melian speaking. Something inside of her was wrong. Well, more wrong than a youma sharing her meatspace. Strytha had recovered from it's shock and abandoned all hints of subtly.
The youma was trying to take over completely.
Bringing what strength she had left to bear, the Captain screamed again.
"Don't let it take over! Please! I don't want to be a monster anymore!"

Cosmos' eyes returned to Kadyrelite and a look of sympathy crossed her features. Her determination never wavered, though; she nodded to the woman. "I will do what I can," she promised, but no matter how hard she tried, it would be the Negaverse Agent before her that had to make her final stand. Cosmos’ abilities depended on Kadyrelite’s willingness to accept the purification. Cosmos drew in a breath and an energy suddenly seemed to glow around her; she focused her power as best she could before sharing it with the woman before her. She needed no words to explain the action; a flood of pure energy washed through Kadyrelite, colliding with the Chaos within her. If she truly wanted to be saved, Cosmos would see to it that she was.

For the briefest of moments, Kadyrelite thought that this brilliantly shining being was going to leave her to her punishment. She'd listened to her superiors in the Negaverse, after all. She'd brought their wrath down on her head and been burdened with Strytha.
And now Strytha was going to take over and who knew what would happen then. She felt bits of pieces of herself being eaten away as the youma fought to gain control. And then... and then, she felt something completely unexpected. It was like being broadsided by a shimmering wall of warmth. And in that warmth was a lightness that Kadyrelite wanted. Swallowing back a sob, she reached for the light, feeling as if it was pulling her one way while the darkness of Chaos pulled her in the other. And within that tiny eternity, she wondered if she was strong enough to walk away from the darkness.
Then, the memory of her cousin's voice reassuring her that she didn't have to be a monster anymore flickered through her mind. That Knight asking if she wanted help. She truly did want to be helped. To be free.
In that moment, Kadyrelite reached out eagerly for the light, using it to push the darkness away.
"I don't want to be a monster. I won't be a monster!"
It could have been whispered. It could have been screamed defiantly into the night. Or it could have been nothing more than a stray thought. But with those words, Kadyrelite felt the pure energy surge through her starseed, heard a faint scream as Strytha was banished from her body. Sobbing from relief, Kadyrelite allowed the pure energy to wash over and through her, closing her eyes and losing herself within the shining brilliance.
Within the light, a figure could be seen on her knees, swaying gently before toppling over. And when the light faded, the person who lay before them no longer had any trace of Chaos about her.
The Space Cauldron Ogygia says hi, space mom. And I hope I did this right. XD

When it was all over and a knight was revealed, Whisler let out a sigh of relief, finally leaving Orcus’s side and making his way over. They were all order now. All but one, and at least he knew that she was safe for the moment. He knelt down beside the newly purified knight and lifted her gently into his arms. “Thank you,” He said softly, glancing at Cosmos and standing up once again.
He sighed, wondering how he found himself in situations like these. Taking a few steps towards the Dark Mirror senshi, he sighed again. “Orcus, she’s not your cousin anymore…but she’s not trapped by chaos either…and until we get you out of the place that you’re stuck in…” His voice trailed off and he glanced away. “I’ll keep her with me, okay? I’ve been through this before. I know…I know what I went through, and I’m sure I can help to answer her questions…I’ll take care of her for now…and you and I…can meet up again soon, okay?”
There was really nothing else that could be done. It wasn’t safe for Orcus to know this knights civilian identity, and if they met on the streets, she wouldn’t recognize her anyway…so…
This was for the best.

Muffling a tiny cry with her hand as the light faded and Alo... no, she wasn't really Alodie anymore, was she?... fell, Orcus remained where she was standing for half a breath longer before darting towards Whisler and the unconscious form of her cousin.
She paused long enough to look up at the woman who'd changed her cousin and smile.
"Thank you," she whispered. "I... have a feeling I am going to end up seeing you again sometime. For myself."
She considered saying more, then shook her head and met Whisler in the middle as it were. Reaching out to gently touch her cousin's face, she sighed before shooting the male Knight with a poisonous glare.
"How dare you tell me she's not my family anymore! She's always going to be my family, even if... even if I can't take care of her right now. But that doesn't mean you get to spirit her off just like that!" she snapped her fingers for emphasis.
For a moment, she looked perplexed and downhearted before her face brightened and she reached into her fuku to pull out an plain black cell phone and an ink pen. Flipping it open, she tapped the keys for a moment and smiled.
"Here's how this is going to work. I am going to write this number on you. This phone is a little burner I bought when I had to abandon my apartment. When you get home or wherever you're taking her, you are to call me and let me know she's safe. When she wakes up, you are to call me so I can talk to her once before... well, before I follow some rumors about how to stop being a Dark Mirror."
She began to put action to words and pushed part of Whisler's sleeve up so she could scrawl the number onto his arm. Then, after a thought, she wrote another number down too.
"This one goes to Nereid. She's on your side, but she and I... well? We're close, okay? After I've talked to my cousin, please call or text Nereid and let her know I'm coming back, please. Cowardly of me, I'm sure, but I'd rather not give her a chance to talk me out of doing something so potentially dangerous. And I'd like it if the next time i saw her I was like her..."
Taking a deep breath and capping the pen, Orcus hid the phone away and took a deliberate step back.
"Don't you dare forget or ignore those two calls I asked for, Whisler. I'm holding you to your honor in remembering them. And if she wakes up and asks who she is... tell her we'll figure that out when I get back."
With that, Orcus raised her hand in a half-wave and turning, ran and leapt from the building top. She wanted to get back to her hotel room and wait for the first of her two phone calls.
