Riley was on the ground. She'd been barraged by something so inhumane she couldn't even guess it to be a Horseman. She'd never seen anything as ugly in her entire life, and she'd seen a lot of strange things. But this.. this tentacle covered abomination that attacked her with a shower of sharp things had to have ranked top on her list.

Even giant horses seemed a little more realistic than this.

She got up, and immediately sat back down again. She could feel her shield flickering, threatening to break after just one hit. How the hell could this thing be that strong?

She heard Andeon laughing. Laughing sinister, and deep, like he'd never laughed before. There was something about his laugh that made her think he knew more than she did, and it chilled her to know even her weapon was turning against her. She'd never put him in a golem, for just this reason. Now, he was proving her right. And he just kept laughing. Cold, like he was glad this was happening. Like he was glad they were both going to die.

Well she wasn't giving up that easily.

She stood and snapped her whips, preparing yet another attack on the monster in front of her, and she could feel Andeon make contact yet another time. It felt like she stood a chance, for a moment.

And then, that moment passed.

Something had punctured her, under her ribcage where she couldn't immediately see. She let out her last gasp of air, and looked down. It was the tentacles. So many of them, rigid like rods, all bunched together and disappearing right under her ribcage.

The last thing her mind registered before it blacked out, was that this monster in front of her, the one with a smile that looked like Andeon sounded, had a hole in her body. Right under her ribcage.

And now, she did too.
