For many they said dreams told the future. Predicted the unpredictable.
An alternate reality.

At first there was no meaning.
Dull images, a speechless sky.
One by one a light lit up, merely casting more shadows on each indistinguishable face.

Nothing was out of the ordinary. Nothing overly extraordinary.
And yet when that door appeared and she found herself walking closer and closer, she couldn't help but worry.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
The sound grew louder and louder, each step more reluctant than the last.
"Stop!" she told herself. "Turn back!"
And yet she still found herself opening the door.
Creakkkkkkkkkk....

A figure greeted her, a figure that approached, closer, closer.

How did everything go so wrong....
It was considered a simple mission.
Retrieve an artifact. In and out.
Sure, it was in a haunted tomb, and there were traps but...

She had done her research. Had made sure she was prepared.
She spent a whole month familiarizing herself with everything, and yet...
It was a single slip-up.
She had missed, and fell.
The next thing she knew she was surrounded. The prickling sensation of teeth sinking into skin.
The numbing feeling of the poison coursing through her veins.

At least it didn't hurt too much. All she felt was tired. Drowsy.
The soft hissing was almost like a lullaby, slowly lulling her to sleep.
A slow, blissful, permanent sleep.
