He had found himself on a mission, which honestly wasn't that unusual. Being a specialized hunter in the Mist Division often meant he was called out on a lot of missions. His expertise in being good at just about everything, at least in his opinion and perhaps somewhat in the opinion of Deus Ex, was often needed and called on.

It was unusual to end up directly in The Dusk, with the Horsemen, but that was where the mission had taken him this time. It was highly dangerous, being there. He was directly in a FEAR-laiden world with creatures that most assuredly wanted him dead. Very dead.

And he had few people to fall back on.

It was an infiltration mission, and in theory so long as he wasn't noticed by many it should have been an easy in-and-out. Of course, as a Hunter, and especially as a Mist Hunter, nothing was ever truly easy. Everything was a struggle.

What he wasn't expecting to be a struggle, though, was the thing that he could always fall back on.

At first, he hadn't noticed it. At least, not immediately. The vague panic coming from his weapon was honestly pretty normal, especially in a tense situation like the one he was in. But eventually it started reaching a fever pitch. The panic was hitting him in waves, before it took over like a tsunami, like something felt like it was truly in trouble.

And it was.

Ignacio watched in alarm as the weapon he had relied on so long suddenly started blinking in and out, before the runes on the weapon completely gave out. He suddenly felt weaker and his head started swimming. It was oppressive. His heart was pounding in his ears, and it felt like it was choking him in his panic. He fell to his knees, trying to grab at something, anything to make this stop. What was happening? What was this?

For a moment, out of the corner of his eye, he caught his weapon on the ground next to him.

It no longer looked like a weapon.

It was a tablet.

And Ignacio was gone.
