Harpies are creatures, usually female, who take the form of humans with bird wings and feet. They are generally treated as pests.
The males are solitary but the females (lead by a queen) live together and raise their young in a community. When the chicks grow up, the males leave the nest, but the females stay and contribute to the community.
They spend their days hunting for food and stealing. They like to nest by isolated areas, as its' easier to pick off travelers who are alone and can't call for help due to being so far away from civilization. As such, harpies are hunted and killed.
Their feathers are valuable in clothing.
When attacking, harpies will usually emit a high-frequency scream to stun their enemy and attack with their sharp talons. Their grip is strong enough to crush a human skull.
They like shiny things, which is why they prefer to eat merchants, who carry such shiny items.
