After a massive failure with her own projects in her attempt to disengage from the human world altogether, Riley decided to rally and give life a second chance. This came with some caveats, however. For one, she was going to have to deal with the fact that another Hunter, specifically Andrew, was clearly trying to court her and she was not interested. She could barely handle being human herself, but to have to deal with one trying to be around her in a companionable manner? And give her things, and expect her to talk to them? Or worse? Like be nice?

It was out of the question.

That did not mean she had to be cruel about it. Despite their earlier conflict, Riley felt comfortable with having punished Andrew fittingly, and did not hold further contempt for him. She was simply very uncomfortable about her hypothesis concerning his - ugh - feelings for her.

This problem had come to a head when she'd met him at the fish shop, and the first thing he'd tried to do was offer to give her a bird. A gift. Unacceptable.

Something had to be done about this immediately, and Riley was nothing if not direct when it came to confrontation. She would clear this up at once, and hope that Andrew did not act out in anger over his feelings being unrequited.

Men were so weird about that sometimes.

She tapped out a quick text, one of many that would come within minutes of one another, giving him time to reply between them. The first one was simple.

She waited. Her face looked very tight, very expectant, as she stared at the phone.

She absolutely was expecting an apology back, and she was very dissatisfied at his reply.

She was starting to see why Sammy had went straight to the punch.

She knew what was wrong. And she had to address it. She wasn't getting an apology out of him because he didn't want her to stop talking. This was ludicrous. His illicit fantasies had to be stopped.

There was no getting through to him. The mere idea that someone would just throw an apology back in the face of someone and continue to try and upset them simply because - because -
