The last thing that she remembered was settling down to sleep for the night. It lead to confusion for a moment when she found herself within a half formed world where the lights lit up underneath her and shadows walked proud. Her feet took her forward in the dream, following the same tempo and pacing as the silhouetted people that marched on to an unknown destination. She must have blinked because suddenly there was a door off in the distance that she was heading to. This was clearly a dream, after all she could remember going to bed, but maybe this was going to turn into a nightmare? She wondered this because as she got closer and closer to the door her heart raced like she was being hunted, or in this case corralled.
She couldn't stop.
Her feet weren't under her control.
A hand came up as she drew near to the door and no matter what she tried she couldn't stop it from opening it.
When the door cleared the doorway she could see into the room beyond. White walls and the only thing that stood out was the shape, the person, that was fragmented in looks. It took her a moment to realize it was holding something, a black fragment, and just as she saw it the figure started to move towards her.
Her heart pounded loudly in her ears and her eyes were wide as it stalked closer and closer. If she could have fun she would have but instead she was frozen as it in turn reached out to her then stopped.
The next day after having the strange dream she got told she was going to be sent on assignment to one of the bases they had in the Amazon as they were short on staff for a shift. She of course went willingly into it after sending her friends a quick text message of where she was going to be for the next several hours in case any of them were looking for her, as well as asked Spinar if they were still on for hanging out tonight. She arrived at the Amazon base while imagining spending more time with the handsome Hunter but after a short while shook her head to clear it of those types of thoughts. After all Meara was there to do a job and she was going to do it!
For the first few hours nothing special happened, just patrolling around the area keeping a look out. And then the cries started. Meara whipped around with wide eyes as a Hunter show had been behind her cried out and went down with an arrow piercing though his thigh. The Moon Hunter kicked into gear as some of the other's around her sounded the alarm about the Horsemen attacking and she hurried over to the fallen Hunter to help provide first aid as she was trained to do as part of the Moon Division. Once she had provided it for him and helped him get to safety she turned back around to the fighting.
For the next hour she was going from Hunter to Hunter to patch up wounds and to provide support, occasionally having to fight a Horseman here and there. It seemed like they were finally starting to beat the Horsemen back, to drive them off away as their numbers thinned. Meara knelt to help another Hunter who had gotten hit and just as she was about to reach out and touch him: pain.
Pain radiating through her body starting at her chest and going out. The Hunter she had been about to help had wide eyes and was reaching out to steady her as she wobbled. Why did she hurt?
Meara looked down to see the tip of an arrow sticking out of her chest as she tipped forward into the other female Hunter's grasp, not able to keep kneeling on her own.
So that's why.
The world started to swim and darkness started to creep into her vision as she coughed up flecks of blood.
Guess she wasn't going to be hanging out with anyone later...
Sorry Spinar...
She jolted up in bed with her eyes wide and heart pounding, gasping for air and grabbing at the bracelet that was her weapon in resting form. Her body shook as she tried to push back any sobs that wanted to come out of her. It took her a few minutes to calm down, her weapon's cooing helped a lot, and she relaxed once again though knew she wouldn't be going back to sleep.
Even if it was just a dream it had felt so real.
Finally she got out of bed, got dressed, and headed out to do some training to push the nightmare away.
