After the shower Zyk was not only measurably calmer, but some the wounds had healed some as well. The shallower ones had closed up, leaving only faint lines where they had been. The deepest were still very much there, but we no longer oozing blood. He wasn't entirely sure, but he thought perhaps one or two of the ones on his chest may linger in the form of scars, but only time would tell. But that was a worry for later. There was still the matter of the mess to attend to, but it would hopefully be more manageable now with Zyk's head a bit clearer. He would start by grabbing the bin from the kitchen, setting it beside the much smaller bowl. While he still intended to call someone to assist in the majority of the clean up, he felt better about sorting through the specimens when he could physically separate them. Kneeling on a folded towel, he started by carefully separating the wings of an insect that had probably stated life as something fluttery and vibrant, but had ended on Zyk's shelf.

Ever'd been afraid, perhaps, to walk around too much -- not just because of the glass, because he had boots on and he'd survive a couple pokes and slashes from loose glass -- but because of the specimens, loose where they'd fallen, still and silent. It was easy enough for him to figure out where the larger objects were (here, a table; the bulky form of a chair sending echoes back toward him) but when it came to Zyk's collection, it was an entirely different story. These items were, mostly, small enough and of a strange enough shape he couldn't quite get a read of them. Whatever his reasons, in the end he'd decided to wait Zyk out collapsed down into the bed, still wearing his shoes and smelling just faintly of the disgusting preserving liquid that had soaked into his pants, and his boots, that still clung to his hands even after a scrubbing in the shower. Maybe he should have put on fresh clothing. As the tinkle of glass resumed nearby, though, he levered himself up again to crouch behind Zyk. Following him should be safe enough; it wouldn't be the first time he tread in the other man's footsteps to ensure his own safety. It also meant he could listen for the low thrum of Zyk's body, to make sure he was okay, not too tense, no longer panicking... "How bad is the damage in the end?" He kept his voice light, finally stepping in to tangle arms around Zyk's waist and be a nuisance to his work.

Zyk had sunk into the task at hand, all of his focus narrowed to specimens on the floor and seperated out as many salvageable samples as he could manage. It was careful, tedious work, and he didn't notice when Ever got up from where he'd been sitting to kneel behind him, not until and we're wrapping around his bare your body. For just a moment he stilled, distracted, or maybe just enjoying the feel of Ever pressed up against his back. "Bad." Though he sounded calmer now, at least. "There is a lot that will need replacing, but I will not know the extent until I have finished sorting through everything."

For a moment -- chin settled down on Zyk's shoulder and face pressed into his neck -- Ever just thought about that. And then, carefully, he tipped his face toward Zyk's, choosing his words carefully. "Is it worth replacing?" His eyebrows raised over the sunglasses, questioning. "Or would it be wiser to start with something new?"

He mulled that over, sitting back on his heels for a moment and letting Ever lean on him. "Replace what can be replaced without too much difficultly. Some I do not think we will be lucky enough to come across again.". The majority, thankfully, were things they had access to.
Pale eyes flicked up to the shelves and what remained on them. "It is a heavy loss, but it could easily have been worst. At least the most important survived." Still sitting on the ground beside their bed, out of harm's way.
He tossed the remains of what had probably been some plant in the trash bin. He turned his head to look at Ever from only an inch or so away, scrutinizing his features, expression. With a thoughtful frown he leaned his he'd enough to rest his temple against a pale brow. "You are alright?"

Ever's reply was brief and dismissive; shoulders raised in a shrug that shook off any concern Zyk might have for him. Of course he was alright. It seemed like he was always alright, or if he wasn't, all anyone had to do was wait about ten minutes and he was back to easy-going. "What now?" His arms shifted loose around Zyk's waist, considering. "Do you want to run off in search immediately?"

Ever was a constant that Zyk found incredibly comforting after the memory gaps, the injuries, and the mess. That considering gaze stayed on him for a moment, an idea forming in his mind, but it'd have to wait. He resumed picking through the rabble, separating things until all that was left on the ground was the glass and the mix of solutions. "No, not immediately. There is still the matter of the crystal and the power." It would have been nice to simply head out, but Zyk was too concerned with the fate of the Dusk and the clans as a whole not to stick around to see what happened. "After, I think." Until then there was plenty to keep them busy.

"So forget about it for now." He made it sound so easy, and so simple. It was important to Zyk, and he wouldn't question that, but at the moment Ever dismissed it as unimportant. He hummed, instead, slowly letting go of Zyk so he could slide up to his feet, instead. "Let's go out somewhere. And deal with this when we get back."

There was a moment there, as Ever began to draw away from him, where Zyk had thought about catching his arms to keep him drawn in against his back. Then the moment was over, and Zyk was left looking up at the blonde. The bowl, with what he had managed to save, was picked up as the alchemist rose to his feet. As he set it on the work bench he also reached for a large bottle of off green colored liquid, pouring it over the contents until everything was submerged. He could divide it all up into new jars later. Which was as much work as he was willing to put into the clean up of their quarters. The bottle was returned to it's spot of the bench, freeing up Zyk's hands so he could hook a finger in the D-ring of one of Ever's bracelets. "Where are we going to go?" He could call for an attendant to give the apartment a thorough cleaning while they were gone.

"Have you eaten something?" It was a simple, mundane thing; normal and direct. They could go get some fear and do something a bit quiet, a bit domestic, to put Zyk back on his feet. Ever shrugged, slow and languid, hand hanging limp from Zyk's grasp.

"No." It would work. Zyk released the ring, the backs of his fingers gliding up whatever part of Ever's arm he could reach as he passed him to open the door. "That is a fine idea."
