Aodan placed one hoof in front of the other and plodded across the grasslands. The grass was high this time of year but it was not green and lush. Instead the tall grass was dry and almost dead looking in appearance. Looking at the grass was almost looking at a personification of the feelings Aodan contained inside. However the grass was dry and brittle looking because it hadn't rained in some time. The summer months were dry and sweltering with a humid heat that stole the energy of all soqs, animals and most living thing. Only the ticks seemed to be thriving amidst the humidity . Aodan hated ticks, hate was to mild of word perhaps loath would be more accurate. Aodan had been taught to love and appreciate all the spirit's creatures however he had never been ably to appreciate or even like fly's, misquotes, or tricks. He was just not a fan of anything that had the ability to bite him. Insects were one of the annoyances that would briefly bring him out of his severe depressed state. There was noting like being bitten to surprise you. Unfortunately the winter moths had been very wet which had let to a rise in the insect population. The grasslands were a hospitable habitat for many insects though he was realizing why he hadn't seen many soq in the grasslands. Clearly they were more wiser then he was and stayed clear of the long grass. The air was humid as if the sky was trying to keep all the heat packed down on the ground. If he could fly he would fly far from here and far from the heat. Looking for some possible source of rain, Aodan gazed at the sky his eyes squinting as his pupils adjusted to the light. The sun was high in the zenith position, so after a few seconds he hurriedly gazed far into the horizon at the clouds that slowly moved across the sky. Aodan remembered watching the clouds when he was a young foal. He and and the friend would gaze in wonderment at the sky. They would look at the clouds and try to attribute a shape or characteristic to the clouds. Some clouds they would say looked like small rabbits. The one of them one make up a story about a bunny and what that cloud bunny had been doing. Was it a good cloud bunny or was it a mischievous bunny. Both of them would tell the other stories and they used to compete to see which of them came up with the most creative story-lines.Now Aodan was not in the mood to play fantastical games. He did not have the desire and his heart did not have the lightheartedness it once had. Instead he only looked at the clouds to gauge if it was going to rain. He wanted it to rain and for the chlorophyll in grass to make the grasslands once again green.

It was if this day had been made for the stallion that wandered the grasslands. The heat did not seem to bother him at all, the scales on his back greedily absorbing it. His horn glowed with nothing but heat keeping the bugs from his face.
The few that attempted to crawl past the scales protecting his legs met the whiplike tail. He grinned to himself. He was powerful, bred as a machine of war. He stood taller than most stallions, heavier than most, and his scales had protected him well just as his body was made for this heat. He was truly a giant of fire. But...he also was lacking something important. A purpose. His mother, with her stinking herd behind her, saw the destructive capabilities in him and chose to drive him out to keep them safe. She was the one who made him so why not keep her creation?

He stamped a hoof with an angry snort scattering knats into the air. Sending him away was better than trying to kill him. He hated bleeding. It attracted things like wolves or walkers. He had been lucky.

"I wonder who's lands I am in now?" he rumbled to himself. It was too still to be wild lands. Sure, the bugs were annoying but he should have run into something else by now. Like buzzards, two leggers, wander soquili...his burnt orange eyes squinted against the waves the heat was making.
Was that another soquili? Did he finally run into something else? He stood still, hesitating for a moment before acting.

Ears cautiously back, he plodded forwards, "Oi! Are you a mirage or living?" Better to ask now than loose the opportunity. His body tensed ready for something hostile in case he had wandered into a herd not fond of vagabonds. He secretly hoped not though since he had traveled some distance. Blood attracted things.

It looked like the spirits would not try to fulfill his wish for rain. Aodan only hoped the spirits would listen to his inner plea but he had no expectations . He had been forsaken by his love and his herd. Though he could fathom the reasons behind his expulsion from the herd. He had broken herd law, and he was being punished. It might not seem fair to him that he was being used a an example to others about the perils of breaking herd law. However once he pushed back his turbulent emotion, he could understand his herds need to uphold it's laws. They had given him chances but he had not been flexible. The herd had not been against same sex relationships it had female pairing before but since it was a heavily dominated female herd it was expected that any males would act as sires. He had clearly flaunted herd law through not acting as a sire to his herd. He had felt like acting as a sire was betraying his love but his partner had no problem acting as a sire for the herd. When Aodan stood up against herd law and was expelled he had though his love would also leave the herd. He waited for months near the herd boundty line him but his childhood friend and love never showed up.
Aodan felt more betrayed by his love then he did by his herd. Aodan head slumped as he once again thought of negative thoughts, he couldn't seem to shake them . His mind always drifted back to his loses and he wasn't able to break free from his spiral of depression.

He suddenly got the feeling that he was no longer alone in the grassland. His ears wildly flicked from side to side trying to pinpoint a source. His eyes scanned the grassland but the sun was bright and it was hard to see. The sun was high in the sky and was almost blindingly intense at this hour. His intuition was seldom wrong, he narrowed his eyes trying to find where the other soq was. The soq was big and brightly colored and for a moment he almost thought it was his partner coming to find him at last. However the voice that came from the soq was not familiar and while his love had a bright coat he was not huge like this male. Aodan looked at the nearby male he was not in the mood for company but felt like he should at least make an effort not to appear like a wraith or spirit creature, " I am not an illusion and am still of this world, though the heat might hasten my demise."

Hauk snorted, waves of heat swirling around him. This was an odd looking stallion, his pattern helping break his form among the trees such as a big cat or some other creature did. Thinking only for a moment, Hauk decided to approach the stranger slowly. His hoofsteps cracked against the dried ground,
the kirin still not showing any signs of heat exhaustion.

"I do not come to fight," Hauk stated as he grew closer, "I just need information on where I am. I am avoiding my old herd and hope I do not travel in circles.
Where am I....ser?" He looked the stallion, his burning gaze almost judgmental. This male looked strong the closer Hauk got to him. The giant stopped just short of ten feet away. There he waited, lowering his head to seem less threatening but not taking his fiery eyes off the other.
