“They say you might be the oldest hunter..” A lifer had said to him at the start of the mission.
Borr had laughed, a deep belly laugh, and shook his head, “They say a lot of things.”
“You’ve got white hair, that’s something,” The hunter smiled.
“There’s been hunters with white hair before, but you’re not wrong. Could be just stress..” Borr had winked before nodding a thought to the other, ‘Stay On Task.’
Moon was here to watch the Lifers, guard and protect them while the assault went on inside. Behind him portals hummed for to make their return home simpler, but also the Moons were here to make sure the horsemen themselves didn’t gain access.
At the first sign of being run the portals had to blow.
The first of the bugs were nothing but drones, but when one came, many came and it wasn’t long before the hunters were battling for their lives. He was covered in slime and guts as he hacked through the hordes. It had been too much..
“We’re pulling back!” That same Lifer now yelled, one foot already through. “You have to retreat..!”
“If I run they’ll follow. Go!” Borr was hit by something, he felt it burrowing into the skin of his arm, “You gotta go!!”
The other hunter paused as Borr began to yell, to fight the pain burning his veins. It sapped his strength, his life, his bulk..
As the bugs drew his life away, as the moths swarmed his face and aged him- aged him so fast- aged him to death… he finally found the device and blew the place sky high.
