Aisha and her team pressed through to the War floor of Dusk. Their intel had been good and the assault was going nearly as planned. Nearly. It seemed too easy and she had the creeping feeling that every floor they were closer to an ambush.
Long ago she’d left Life Division and instead transferred to Mist. She and her weapon had grown in the ten plus years she’d been with Deus. At some point she’d decided to stop questioning herself so much, stop questioning what she wanted, and in her indecision she found that Mist was a better fit.
She liked to help people, no matter how, and preferred learning a bit of everything instead of feeling like the reject member of the science club. Mist was better for her, the people more like her people, and she’d even found people to grow close to.
“I don’t like this..” She didn’t know the young Sun Division trainee with her but when it came to horsemen it was all hands on deck. Deus never sheltered anyone from a real fight. At least in that honesty, they were straightforward.
“Feels like a trap..” She agreed.
Which was when it was sprung.
Horsemen dropped from the trees, wings rustling and movement fast. The young hunter at her side was young and new, fresh meat, and as a painted body dropped between them she aimed and fire. Her banshee sang, the guns sound waves bouncing the horsemen into the trunk of a tree with a sickening thud.
“Hey thanks-” He breathed, turning to smile at Aisha only to find her still and unstaring.
“Blood for blood!” Her slayer growled as wrenched the blade from the woman’s back.
Aisha fell in a heap to the ground, last thoughts of nothing really. Maybe helping someone new, someone with promise, but mostly she thought she had a good run.
